This place used to have the silkiest, tahini-rich hummus anywhere, and they served falafel that was piping hot, tender with a delicately crisp crust and a savory flavor. The wraps were always soft and fresh. It had been many months since I had eaten there, and my mouth watered as we ordered, so the fall was steep: the hummus was grainy and tahini-scanty. The wrap was dry and chewy. The falafel nuggets in my wrap were dense and not even hot (falafels in a side order were hot, but otherwise similarly uninspired). Sitting off the side of El Camino Real, Mediterranean Delite might not look like much, but the folks here were super friendly and enthusiastic about their freshly made Mediterranean eats--and for good reason! The vegetarian combo plate came with two falafels, two dolmas, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, hummus, and Greek salad made of romaine, cucumbers, tomatoes, and crumbled feta cheese. The falafels were light, airy, and crispy (though a bit on the greasy side), and all the other components of the platter were perfectly balanced in flavor! My favorite part was definitely the hummus, which was smooth and creamy and perfect for wiping up with the falafel and pita bread that came on the side! I also tried the beef/lamb shawarma, made of sauteed strips of meat, topped with sliced red onion, tomato, and sumac. It was lunch time and this was an impromptu stop since I was picking up an ice cream cake across the ways at Baskin Robbins. I ordered a Kofta Kabob wrap which comprised of grilled seasoned ground beef with onion, parsley, lettuce, tomatoes and tahini sauce wrapped in lavosh. I opted with no onion and it came out to be a little over $11. The size was a little smaller than I hoped for the price, but then again everything these days have gone up in prices. There were a fair amount of options to choose from including various wraps, salads, plates, and desserts. Definitely vegetarian friendly. While I was waiting for my order a few people came in to pick up "phone orders" so that was smart of them. Parking is shared with several other store fronts. Staff was friendly and if I'm ever in the area again and craving Mediterranean food, I might stop by. read more

We have not been to Med Delite for a long time and I was happy to be able to place a 20-person catering order for an office party this week. This is the first time we've used MD since the new ownership took over and we were very, very pleased with the experience. The food was excellent as it always has been. What really impressed me, though, was the very thoughtful actions on behalf of the gentleman who helped me pick up the order and get it into the car. I wasn't sure if we would have enough food because, after we placed the order, it looked like we would have a few more people than we expected. Jamel said he'd be happy to provide some extra food immediately and it sounded like he would do so at no additional cost. I told him that I thought we'd be good but that I'd call him to add extra food if, indeed, we needed more. He told me he'd be happy to deliver any additional orders to our house where the party was. It turned out that we were ok--we had enough food. Nonetheless, about 45 minutes later I received a call from the restaurant. It was Jamel following up to make sure we were good. I was floored at the thoughtfulness of this simple act. He was thinking about us during the busy dinner hour and took the time to call to make sure we were ok. Who does that? Caring and thoughtful people, that's who. I'll be back to Med Delite very soon! read more

This was a chance discovery by the Redwood City roadside and gosh I'm so happy with it. While not really eye-catching right of the street but it surely is a wonderful restaurant with some truly delicious kebabs. Plus the people there are so nice, and give such generous amounts! The best hummus and babaganoush you'll find. I don't eat falafels anymore, because I'm not allowed fried food, but I certainly can eat dips. I've been meaning to write a good review for this place and wish I did sooner, they deserve taste bud respect. Went recently during our global lock down, picked up my two favorite dips listed above, 2 spinach pies w/feta, 4 dolmas and extra pita bread. Brought it home to my husband and it was such a treat. We were able to stretch this out for 2 days. You have to drive on El Camino to find the restaurant. It's located next to Baskin Robbins in San Carlos. If you are heading back north, make sure to take the first right and another right towards downtown San Carlos, or else you'll be going down towards Redwood City for a while. NEW OWNERS !!!!! So much nicer than the old place. He has put so many improvements into it and it's so clean and lively. From the moment I walked in I heard wonderful ethnic music playing. I always enjoy it when the music matches the ethnicity of the food. I was greeted immediately by two smiling people and asked where I would like to sit. I chose a table and waited for my girlfriend. OK I don't normally order lemonade because it usually is a powder mix or with high fructose corn syrup junk. But when I asked about the lemonade and he said " we squeeze the lemons freshly and add a little cane sugar with a sprig of mint" I was hooked. I had the fresh lemonade and it was the best I've ever had !!! No kidding! I ordered the moussaka plate with a side order of hummus. My friend ordered the Shawarma plate with lamb and beef. We stumbled on this one on the way back. We have ordered a veggies combo plate and a sharama plate. They both came out pretty fast. Falafel are VERY fresh, not overly fried and not hard like rocks! Chicken is roasting in their oven, pita bread came fresh and warm. Tabboulh is vibrant with fresh mint aroma. Their food is light and not too salty and greasy. We will be back! Absolutely recommend their chicken Kebab plate that comes with 2 skewers of chicken kebabs, tabouleh and pita. Add a side skewer of chicken or lamb which comes with a large pita. Ordered veggie combo plate takeout because I was craving falafel. I usually go to the other vegan place in Belmont to get the combo plate but decided to give this place a try. The combo plate has falafel, hummus, dolmas, baba ganouj, tabouleh, Greek salad (I opted out of the Greek salad for more falafel) and it even comes with pita. Let me just say each part was exuding flavor!!! Compared to the Belmont place, the falafel here is super crispy and moist flavorful inside. Hummus and baba ganouj was bursting with flavor and just screamed fresh cuz I could taste the ingredients, like I could taste the smoky eggplant in baba ganouj. Dolmas were so fresh too because the outside grape leaf wrap was just perfect amount of flavor with texture inside. Shockingly the dolmas tasted so different from the other place I realized maybe this is how they're supposed to taste because it was so much better. Always hear about this place and decided to give it a try. True Palestinian cuisine, the decor is full of what the old country is like - very cool. They don't do any of the phone app delivery services - NO SOUP FOR YOU! They want there food fresh and hot and do not want to take a chance on late deliveries. Owner is a little grumpy but whatever. The food is very fresh and good. A little light on the meat in the Gyros. Salads are fresh and green and the falafels are freakin great. The hummus is really good and has a unique flavor. I used to eat here all the time because the food is good and the service was good . I went last night 10-19-22 with a friend and it was her first time going there . It has been a long time since I've been here to eat since moving away. We showed up at 7:15 pm and the restaurant is supposed to be open until 8 pm . The lady that took our order at the counter (older brunette )was the rudest person I've dealt with in a long time. First she commented about me not signing with a tip at the initial payment with there new computer system when I was intending leave a tip after I eat like most any other place and I didn't even sign yet (she did the same thing to my friend) . We both left tips after paying but really shouldn't have because of the rude attitude and crappy treatment .Than she criticized my order because I ordered more than one item basically fat shaming me and I have a small gut at best , I'm not huge . She wouldn't let us eat outside and it was hot inside but awesome weather outside still . There was literally no one else there too ,not like it was busy at all. Food came fast . She gave us each one napkin and the smallest amount of pita bread possible even though I ordered extra hummus and falafel with my chicken shawarma plate. They literally started closing the doors , shutting down the register and turning off the lights at 7:45 while we were still eating and might as well have took our chairs from under us it was that bad . Never felt so unwelcome . I used to recommend this place and go often because I never was treated like that by the older and younger guys that ran the place before . If I ever go back it will be when that extremely rude lady isn't there . The food is still good but that lady is a terrible person to deal with . If that's how you're going to treat customers when you're open for another hour than you should just close up and not deal with customers in such a terrible manner . A younger version of myself would have told her off on the spot and not even sat down to eat . The salad is way too small for that price and the owner was rude to me when I asked for extra dressing and threatened he would be charging me for it. There was barely any chicken and like 2 pieces of feta cheese. Thank god I have my own feta cheese at home. Tonight was a disappointment there for sure. I will def. be going elsewhere for my Greek food! Wow, I am truly appalled at all the negative reviews about the owner! My bf and I received no such treatment here. Perhaps, they read these reviews and caught on quickly which is a good thing! We had the gyro for lunch which was good but not what I expected. It isn't traditional ground up lamb and beef slices with pita bread and tzatziki sauce as expected. It consists of shredded morsels of meat with red onions and lettuce (no cucumbers) wrapped in something more like a flour tortilla. They served some chili vinegar sauce and garlic jalapeño sauce on the side. We were all over the garlic jalepeño sauce. There was some tahini sauce in a tube available too. Regardless of which topping I put on my gyro, it failed to satiate craving for an authentic gyro. I must say the fries were hot and fresh and most enjoyable! I noticed there are a lot of other Greek delectables on the menu though such as couscous. The owner and other staff here were most polite and even came to our table to ask how we were doing. The space is pretty, quaint and tiny like a small coffee shop but comfortable with colorful landscape murals against golden rod colored walls. The table cloths offer a subtle contrast of a muted orange shade. Overall, I'm inclined to return and try some of their other dishes. read more

I am sad to say that my original review is no longer true. This used to be one of our favorite places. It has gone way down hill since Naz retired and sold it. Naz's kitchen was immaculate, the food always fresh and tasted great. We've now eaten here several times under the new owners and it was disappointing to say the least. The food Just didn't seem as fresh and didn't taste as good. Our latest experience however has ensured that we will never eat here again. The stuffed grape leaves this time were mushy and slimy. The Tabbouleh was so rancid and disgusting that there was no way they could have not known. How could you serve that to customers?? Really, really miss Naz. read more

Was here to pick up dinner last night, Friday, around 7:30pm. I love the food here and the falafel is the best I've ever had. The staff was nice and welcoming and they have a bottle of sanitizing gel by the register for customers to use. Thank you! What surprised me was that no one, not the two people making food, the cashier or the lady at the door, not one person was wearing a mask. What? Why? I understand that the County is relaxing some of the sheltering place orders starting June 1st but I felt uncomfortable with the lack of safety here.
