I don't normally order Chilaquiles unless I hear great things, or homemade. 7/10 for Flavor, Spice and Portion size The Breakfast Plate looked really good too. The breakfast potatoes that came with it had perfect amount of crunch and very tasty! Got in pretty quick on the weekend. The service and the Ambience is great. First timer! Upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly gentleman. I took a quick view of the place and it was nice and clean. It was during the week so there were only like 4 other people in there. I ordered a breakfast with a vegan bacon that included a pancake. The pancake was huge that I ended up sharing with my daughter. All the food was fresh and cooked well. The coffee was delicious and I ask for almond milk which they served. I ask asked for habanero sauce which was more like a paste that is made there and delicious to my taste buds. I learned that their jelly and Paste are all done there from scratch double plus for this! Needles to say I would definitely come back during the week when there is no wait time. 5/5 totally would go back again!! First of all, I love this restaurant's name! It's a nice location in Bixby Knolls, you can walk across the street and grab coffee or just walk around take a look at all the other shops and restaurants around the area. The TV was playing Scooby Doo and all the other vintage looking decor made this place feel welcoming and cozy. The staff were all very kind and attentive. The food was great! This restaurant is so darn cute with all of its vintage memorabilia including an old TV playing classic cartoons. The service was very friendly and efficient (Ty Taylor) and the food was pretty good. We had the Chilequiles with spicy sauce (mild option also) and Steak and Eggs. The eggs on both dishes were very "farmy" lol with orange yolk. They have an impressive variety of pancakes. I tried just a plain one first. It was ok. The texture was good but it had a boxed taste to it - not that it came from a box mind you. It was just something about the flavor. Meema's was a tremendous find in Long Beach to add to our ever-growing list of quality breakfast joints for our Sunday morning excursions. Walking inside takes you inside an older era filled with nostalgia and really feels like being inside grandmas house. Old school/vintage style furniture, classic cartoons and television shows (Jetsons, Tom & Jerry, Wacky Races, Mr.Rodgers etc...) and light pastel colors really set the tone from the start. The menu is filled with classic combinations such as pancakes, two egg breakfast plates and sandwiches as well as more modern fare such as breakfast tacos, chilaquiles and steak and eggs. The service is great, the food is full of flavor and very reasonably priced and he portions are ample. My first visit I went with the breakfast tacos and they were delicious, full of flavor and very satisfying. On my 2nd visit I opted for the chilaquiles and they to were delicious with just a little kick and the portion was quite large. We had the same server both visits and she was very friendly and attentive to everything you need throughout the duration of our visits which is often hard to come by. This is the type of place I look for and will continue to frequent for many visits to come. Parking is on the street and it resides in a great little area of LB not far from the Bixby Knolls area. I definitely recommend checking them out and judging for yourself. I do recommend arriving as early as you can because it is quite small but definitely will not disappoint. read more

This place I stumbled upon by accident and let me tell you I am so glad I found it. I did feel like I was dining in Grandma's kitchen. The coffee was fantastic, the steak burrito was delicious and the fresh squeezed orange juice was so rich. The staff was incredible and super friendly 10/10 recommend. read more

I ordered the Chorizo Bean burrito that came with some spicy salsa on the side. The portion was nice because it was not huge, just enough for 1 person. I prefer smaller portions because I can't eat too much... but somewhere always gain weight... The service was nice quick and always around.... We 4 were like the only ones around.... Counting the waiter too. So this might have had something to do with the speedy service and attention. Lastly the ambiance was probably the best part since everything inside was really old school and cool. I didn't want to post too many pics because it's nice to look around and spot some hidden treasures that will remind you of past times... I'm not that old just want to clarify but still cool. When we arrive we were so excited and thought it looked so cute. There is probably 25 tables in the whole place. There was a 30 min wait which we were fine with. We ordered and then waited .... And waited .... And waited .... And waited for 55 min for our food. When we finally got it it was cold. Our order was wrong also. The server tried to offer us ketchup to make up for it. We expressed our disappointment and they didn't charge us TAX in order to appease us. Good looked better than it tasted. It was my first time and I went with my boyfriend on an early Sunday morning. I ordered the orange mimosa, a breakfast combo, and added a pancake. It was such good quality and the potatoes were especially crispy and flavorful. Taylor was the sweetest and kind server. I truly didn't know what to expect when coming here, I wanted breakfast and saw some pictures online that looked good enough and came up to this place. WOW! This place was nostalgia all over the place. My partner and I mused over the old grocery ads boasting 2 dz eggs for 69 cents lol. The service was impeccable. Maya made sure we knew what was up and checked up on us the right amount during our visit. Beyond the decor, the food was absolutely amazing. Food was okay but customer service was not great. We went in with a large party and anticipated long wait times. We were quoted an hour and decided to stick it out. Our waitress came out about 40 minutes into our wait and asked if we would be willing to split our party in half and sit at 2 booths. We reluctantly agreed to it as it may get us seated faster. She comes back out 5 minutes later and says that actually, the large party before us chose the booths so we will have to keep waiting for a table to open up. We continued to wait as now at least we would get seated together. Two tables opened and they were pushed together and set up for a larger party so we expected to be seated there since we were next. Nope! They move the party that had already chosen the booths and ordered all their food and drinks instead. Mind you this party had already been seated at the booths for 10-15 minutes at this point. Also the restaurant a/c wasn't working and it was very hot. I don't mind so much if they tell customers before sitting down so they can decide to stay or not. Lastly my daughter asked for ketchup and when they brought it out; it looked dark and chunky. My daughter noticed it looked strange and when I tasted it, it was rancid. They have vintage items on the walls and some I remember having when I was a little girl. Taylor, our waitress, was very friendly. She was attentive to us and came back a few times to refill our coffee and to see if we needed anything else. I ordered the Briskets and Gravy with scrambled eggs. It had a really good taste but had a kick to it. We also ordered a breakfast burrito and added avocado and that was yummy. The tortilla was homemade too which was a plus. I love breakfast very much and this place is amazing. The decor reminds me of being in someone's grandma's house, it's charming and welcoming. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the food was delicious. Their breakfast burrito was great; the eggs were a lovely texture and the fillings tasted amazing as well. We almost ordered another order because he didnt want to share. Chilaquiles - with steak...i normally prefer a green sauce but their red sauce was perfect. Pancakes - light and fluffy. The lemon tartness paired with the blueberries was perfect. Not overwhelmingly sweet. Service was amazing. MeeMa's is normally not open for dinner, but it seems like they've been opening for First Fridays in Bixby Knolls, which is great. And for some reason, it doesn't seem like people know it's open because there's never a wait when we get here around prime dinner time. Maybe they don't want breakfast for dinner? Now as for me, I have zero problems with breakfast for dinner. I usually get their amazing breakfast burrito, but tonight I wanted something different so I went with their Chocolate Raspberry Pancakes (stack of 3), which I eyeballed the last time I was here. I was warned it was sweet and this was true. The raspberry jam took it to a new height and the chocolate, toffee bits, and chocolate pearls made this more like a dessert for me. Two small things to criticize, and this is really in general with pancake stacks, is that the toppings never really hit the pancakes underneath. Call me a weirdo, but I don't eat pancakes like traditional stacks, I usually do one pancake at a time. So when I dove into the bottom pancakes, they didn't have any other flavor to help. I will say, I should've asked for some butter (at the very least) and maple syrup to help the bottom cakes but I didn't. My fault there. The other small thing, and this might just be me, is that I like my pancakes with a nice crisp to the exterior. I don't know if Meema's can do that but if I get pancakes again, I'll ask if they can cook the pancakes longer so there's a nice crisp on the edge. Service is fantastic and attentive and I've really in general never had anything bad here. Still worth of 5 stars. read more

I really really wanted to like this place it's so cute and I just had high hopes , But sorry the food isn't good like at all we went in today and we ordered coffee, 2 breakfast burritos and this BLT it had a sweet sauce on it, that was gross , the lettuce was wilted and the avocado wasn't fresh it was mashed on the bread and bacon seemed to taste like microwaved bacon , the kids burritos were ok they rated them a 4 .... the bills was 65 and change I just felt this place was so not worth it, we won't ever go back or recommend this place to anyone read more

Nice, reliable, tasty place for breakfast/lunch/brunch. I ordered a mimosa with orange juice. They're very heavy handed on the champagne which is nice. There's an option for a guava mimosa which is also pretty good. I ordered a plate of spicy chilaquiles. Coming from someone who eats spicy food for breakfast lunch and dinner, it was light to medium amount of spicy. The food was standard. Nothing to go crazy about. I'd say it's a reliable place to come back to several times. Same with the tater tots. The decor fits the "grandmas kitchen" style that they're going for. It feels pretty empty, possibly because of the high ceilings but it's not a bad thing. Everyone who works here is super sweet and attentive. read more

Skirt steak and eggs arrived immaculately. I ordered the steak medium rare but arrived medium. Nonetheless , it was delicious. So much flavor. Had a slightly charred taste. Not a single part was fat, tendon or nerve endings. The entire plate was devoured. 10/10 The chilaquiles were spicy but not too much at all. It was missing a lot the traditional ingredients: cilantro and onions. It was 99% tortilla strips. But the red sauce was definitely good. 7.5/10 Guava nectar mimosa was great.
