Bacon & Avocado Omelette w/ Potatoes
    Shauna S.

Charming, must-try breakfast/lunch spot in Bixby Knolls. The interior is immersive, definitely feels like you're visiting grandma's house with the tube tv, stained glass, and framed vintage photos. I ordered the bacon and avocado omelette. The potatoes were deliciously crispy. However the bacon in the omelette was a bit dry and seemingly overcooked. My bf ordered the Meema's classic burrito. He said it was one his favorite breakfast burritos. I also ordered the guava 'Meemosa', which was pretty good. Might not be our go to breakfast joint, but a fun place to take a friend for the first time. Got street parking right away and waited about 20 mins on a Sunday at 11am.

This spot just took the #1 breakfast place for me in Long Beach so far. The food is fresh, full of flavor, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. A lot of what they serve feels homemade, which makes a difference. The ambiance has this cozy, old-school vibe, and the customer service has been consistently great every time I've gone. Plus, the portions are generous, definitely not leaving hungry. Prices are a bit higher than your typical breakfast spot, but honestly, it makes sense for the quality you're getting. It is a smaller space, so I recommend going early to avoid a wait or just plan ahead and make a little date out of it. There are cute shops nearby, so you can walk around while you wait. My favorites so far: the spicy chilaquiles and the steak and eggs. And listen, I'm not even a big meat eater, but I've ordered the steak and eggs three times in a row... that's how good it is. Highly recommend trying it at least once.

Adding a 2026 review, same as 2025. This place is a Gem to the Bixby Knolls LB area. This establishment has it going on with their food and Service. Food is excellent here! I am being honest on this restaurant, excellent food with great adult beverages and great service. We ordered an Avocado Toast along with a main entree of Steak and Eggs. OmG! Soo good. We go here so much that our usual waitress knows what we drink and what we usually order. Lol. Glass of water for me and bottomless Mimosa with Guava juice for wifey. Kudos to Taylor for always being on point. Her service is immaculate! Give that girl a raise :) Also giving big Kudos to Miguel the owner for keeping this establishment pleasantly awesome. Nothing but positive things about this place and location. Keep it up!!! Bravo

The spot was on my bookmark for a while. Since we had to be in the area, we finally got to give it a try. It's a very cute little place, with lots of knickknacks at your grandma would've had. They also had an old school TV that worked. It was showing very old-school cartoons, commercials, and anything you watched on TV and grew up with. Before I get into the food, I wanted to let people with sensitive noses know something. Like most places that want to keep their rooms fresh and clean, the spot has one of those pumps that spears out perfume aroma every few minutes. For me, it was a little too much, and I got on my nerves. They are quite a busy place, which explains the delay of our food. When it came out, though, I was quite happy with the result. I kept it classic with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The eggs were a color that you normally see when the eggs are farm fresh, so there's a very good outlook. The bacon was Hickory smoked and so good. The potatoes were quartered and very crispy. My sourdough didn't come with butter, but they brought some out for me. The pancake that I shared with my partner was good, a little dense, but quite enough for us to enjoy together. She had the chorizo breakfast burrito with eggs and potatoes, and finished it. It was a decent sized burrito that was good from start to finish. The coffee that she ordered came out a very cute little cup and saucer that you would've absolutely found in your grandma's China cabinet. The service is very good and the seating was comfortable. There's a a lot to look at in the room. If you haven't come here yet, I would definitely give it a try. They also have outside seating, so next time you'll find me out there.

A small and beautiful restaurant here in Long Beach with great food and fun activities for kids. We came with one child, and they were given crayons along with a menu that included a scavenger hunt (I heard you can get something for finishing it) and a few other fun activities to keep them entertained. As for the food, we really enjoyed it. I tried the following: Biscuits and Gravy - Heavy, buttery, and delicious. I got this with tater tots and it was the perfect combo. Good chunks of beef as well. (4.5/5) Chicken Sandwich - A classic done right. It wasn't too oily and was nicely seasoned. The onion rings were fire too. (4.5/5) The service was great, they checked on us frequently, and the food came out tasty and satisfying. Definitely a solid brunch/lunch spot. Parking: We parked right out front on the street without any issues.

MeeMa's is a great local spot for brunch. I would say that it gets the job done, but nothing I've had here has blown me away as I have other places I frequent more. However, the food is solid and not too pricey even though I think the portions are pretty small. Since we came for a late breakfast, I decided to skip the usual items and opted for a chicken cesar salad wrap. I think the tortilla was great and the fried chicken on the inside went well together. I did have to ask for extra dressing to add which was fine. However, I do wish it came with something even something small like chips. I do want to give them a lot of credit for the service. Our waitress and the staff were excellent and very attentive. I think that's so rare to find and they deserve an extra star just for that. I did also enjoy looking at all the decor as it was a nice touch. It's such a chill spot and there was luckily no wait. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

MeeMa's is a family owned breakfast restaurant in Long Beach and is perhaps one of the cutest breakfast spots in Los Angeles. Think of this as a retro theme breakfast spot with the ultimate nostalgia vibe like retro TV showing Garfield & vintage antique items. [Parking]: Street parking only, but I had no issue finding an available spot. [Menu]: They offer both classic Mexican and American breakfast items with modern twists such Chorizo Bean Breakfast Burritos, Churro French Toast, Steak and Eggs, Fried Chicken Sandwich, etc. *** Classic Breakfast Burrito (farm fresh eggs, chopped bacon, cheddar cheese, salsa verde and homemade pico de gallo, wrapped in a warm, hand made, flour tortilla - $15.50): I ordered this to-go and it came with a side of salsa. Salsa tasted good but not amazing. Chopped bacon had a hint of vinegary aftertaste from salsa. The portion was big enough to split in half for both breakfast and lunch. *** A solid 3.5-star on breakfast burrito but bump up to 4-star on unique indoor decor vibe and friendly service.

Absolutely loved MeeMa's! We had the most pleasant experience! Husband and I came in with our 4 kiddos and right away were given a box full of crayons for the kids to color and things just got better and better! Coffee was so good I don't even know how many refills i asked for because it was that good lol I ordered the chicken & waffles and their chilaquiles and both were so good! Good food, amazing service and restaurants super cute!! Kids were given some toys after our meal! We will definitely be back!!

This is a very charming and cozy place for breakfast. The interior is very retro and some of the decor really takes you back in time I loved it! The staff seated us very quickly and they were sweet and very attentive! We ordered the Lemon Blueberry Pancakes and MeeMa's Classic Breakfast Burrito! The pancakes were fluffy and soft and absolutely delicious. I loved the whip cream and lemon zest they topped it with as well. I would cut a slice of the pancake and just dip it in everything! The breakfast burrito was pretty big and we were able to share it. It was very tasty and adding avocado to it really topped off the flavor. Definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Seriously, why aren't you there right now instead of wasting you time reading this? Taylor is there waiting to take your order!!! Such a charming and quaint breakfast spot! My friends and I visited on a Sunday morning (party of seven), and while there was a short wait, the staff were completely accurate with the estimated time. Service was outstanding; all three team members we interacted with were warm, welcoming, and took the time to chat with our group. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad wrap, which was fresh and delicious. The only minor downside was that there's just one restroom located in the back, which can be a bit tricky to find and occasionally leads to a short line. Overall, a wonderful experience and I'd definitely come back!

I was looking for a place to grab a quick weekday brunch while I was in the area and, honestly, did not know what to expect from a place called MeeMa's. But, clever name I thought! I didn't expect to come inside and get a wave of nostalgia from all of the decor and ambiance (well, I don't know if I get to say nostalgia since it's all from a time that predates my existence), but it definitely has a diner-meets BnB-meets cottage vibe to it and I love it. I would definitely be back for the great service and vibes inside alone. But, onto the food--I came here to try one of their brisket items which sounds super delicious. Unfortunately they were already out of brisket that morning! I settled for their classic breakfast burrito which was really, really well balanced--just the right amount of everything in ratio all in a crispy tortilla. The tater tots give the burrito a nice crunch while the bacon was a bit on the softer side. It comes with a really tasty side of salsa although there is some pico de gallo inside as well. The seasonings/what I think were green onions also gives it a really nice almost baked-potato type essence to it which I appreciated. Somehow, the burrito was not one bit oily/greasy at all which is honestly pretty impressive for a breakfast burrito. It was also plated pretty nicely. All of the items looked really tasty, with a range of griddle to lunch options--one of those places that has just simple enough but wide enough of a menu that you know everything is likely to taste great. I'll be back to try other things--namely that elusive brisket--but consider checking it out when you're in the area! Keep in mind street parking can be a bit crowded especially during a busier time. There was no wait on a late morning weekday to get seated.

Definitely worth it! The vibes are unmatched. It's a unique blend of "top notch cocktail crafting" and "beer and a hot pretzel after work." You can dress up, you can dress down, it's very 'just be yourself' which I love. I've literally had caviar AND hot dogs there in the same night at an event. They know how to blend high/low. Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's a full bar so you can get any cocktail you would normally order if you're keeping it simple, or beer, wine, boilermakers, etc. There's a span of offerings and price points, so something for everyone. It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

False Advertising and Total Failure of a "Speakeasy"…read more This place should not call itself a speakeasy. According to their website, they are strict about dress code, reservations, and no large parties. None of that was enforced. People arrived wearing sports clothes, tennis shoes, and flip-flops, and a group of more than 10 people was allowed in. That group was loud, drunk, and screaming, completely destroying any speakeasy ambiance. We had a reservation booked one week in advance for 2 tables of six, yet by 8:30 pm, we were told no food was available, despite the bar being almost empty. The water was already on the table when we arrived and tasted strongly of chlorine, with no ice. The waitress was clearly new, untrained, and unprepared. She did not know the menu, didn't know how to take an order properly, and provided no guidance whatsoever. There was one bartender Ricardo, who took over an hour to prepare cocktails and showed no sense of urgency or care. The dramatic cocktail descriptions sounded impressive, but the drinks did not match the descriptions at all. Because of the delays, we were never even able to properly toast or celebrate our friend. The charcuterie board took forever and arrived with an absurd amount of cheese and only six pieces of bread. To make things worse, part of the food we ordered never arrived at all. The live jazz band advertised and promised never showed up. When asked, the staff responded with: "I don't know, they were supposed to be here. I don't have their phone number." That level of disorganization is unacceptable. At the end of the night, we were shocked to receive a check close to $600 for two tables, despite each person only having one cocktail and shared food. The bartender, Ricardo, approached us and said: "Well, sorry, we really tried tonight! It wasn't the best, but we tried." Honestly, that comment made the experience even more frustrating. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if they hadn't "tried."That statement perfectly summarizes the problem -- trying is not enough when everything fails. I would not recommend this place for a speakeasy experience. This is not a speakeasy. It's a poorly run bar hiding behind a concept it does not deliver. Do not recommend.

They seemed a bit short staffed, but every one was hustling and honestly we were well taken care of. Sad I won't have another opportunity to try more of the menu, but grateful to squeeze in this visit before they close in about a week.

It's been a while since the last time I've visited for dinner and drinks. This time, we stopped by…read moreSaturday evening with no reservations. It did look quite busy on the patio when we checked in with the hostess. We were informed that it would prob be about 20 minutes or so for a table and if we wanted to wait at the bar. Exactly what we did. Bar area had maybe 5/6 hi top chairs that look onto the bar. Gabriel and Francisco who were working was knocking the drinks out one by one. Sitting there and just watching them create magic for everyone, it was quite amusing. Seeing how it's made and presented with precise detail, it was an art. While waiting for the table we started off with the raspberry lychee martini and the spicy margaritas. Both were great. The right amount of kick with each sip. Gabriel was knocking them out one by one and man was he busy. Fransisco took are of us while we were eating which we ended up just having our dinner at the bar instead. The last time I remembered the chicken Parmesan which was excellent. So we started off with the grilled prawns as a starters. Five prawns in a skewers and grilled with a delicious sauce accompanied. It was tasty and quite delicious. Decent size and meaty for each bite. Entrees was a little mishap as our meal was mistakenly given to the party next to us which they enjoyed. Honesty mistake but we laughed it off. Kitchen was informed and a rushed was put on our order. We weren't in a rush so it was fine with us. They apologized and graciously offered us a dessert after dinner. Something simple but very graceful for the honest mistake. Entrees, the wild mushrooms pasta which was quite tasty and pretty decent in size. The cream sauce which wasn't too over powering the meal was great. Each bite was very tasty. Then there was the chicken Parmesan which why we were here and expecting. The last visit it was excellent with grilled broccolini, slices of tomatoes on top and mozzarella cheese and onto spaghetti pasta. It was great. Thinking it would be the same this time which it wasn't. This visit, it was just served with squash pasta and buffalo mozzarella on top. Honestly it wasn't what I expected, somewhat of a little disappointed. Chicken was good don't get me wrong. But the hot meat with sauce and then you have literally COLD squash pasta paired with it. It was a little underwhelming. Overall, we still had a nice experience. The place was pretty full and of course the lakers were on so it was fun seeing everyone cheering them on. Bar seating for a meal was great as we had fun conversations with both Gabriel and Francisco. Plus they were cranking them drinks out one by one. Excellent in what they do. The drinks were great, grilled prawns and wild mushrooms pastas were excellent. Chicken parm, this time was a miss. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Also the dessert, highly recommend the Cinnabon with vanilla ice cream. Wow, it went down very well. Hoping next time will outdo this.
