Porter House for 2 People (GONE!!!)
    Dessa R.

We dined here on 12/31/25, our 2nd NYE dinner with the MTM family. Our reservation was made for 9:00P, same as the year prior, knowing it was likely one of the business evenings (if not the most) of the year for them. We had a wait of about 20-25 min, but we expected a short wait and we were all good. One the staff (really sweet blonde woman) was great about acknowledging us and keeping us updated about our seating time, and I bet other diners may have not been as patient, but we were all good and appreciative of her pleasantness. We were seated by the owner I believe, who was also kind, and since we knew our order (same as last year), we promptly provided our order to our server staff, the porterhouse for two, mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus. Once we ordered, we enjoyed a cherry blossom martini and Texas mule while we waited and not even 20-25 min later, all of our meal components arrived....that was a short wait! The porterhouse steak was cooked perfectly to our preference, and the perfect portion for us. Didn't leave us overly full! Delicious mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus. We had a discrepancy with our bill of an overcharge, but the owner was kind and handled it swiftly. Last year we didn't have room for dessert, but this time we took the walnut pecan pie to go, it was just ok. This is our new tradition for NYE, we enjoy it's in our neighborhood walking distance, warm and cozy, food is delicious and feel welcome here.

    A very reasonable spirit menu.

Wow, Wow. , wow!!! It has been too long for my return---only because most of my departures are from JFK instead of LGA. So happy this solely-owned family business is still here! I am still amazed at the reasonable prices for huge quality meats. Then you add the ambiance. Oh yea, you don't get gouged with your drinks either. Finally met the wife---got the dirty: This owner loves his business and his customers. This is what it is about. I had an amazing meal away from home served with love. I let my man select some of the dishes. The scallops, The Filet with creamed spinach. Then he selects an after dinnet drink. Had to have a cappuccino. Worth it!!! You MUST have the french vanilla ice cream. Life is too damn short. I left with a hug. Support this fantastic steak house.

Classic Caesar Salad with grilled chicken

Don't mind paying top dollar for good food, but this is a $25 salad (with grilled chicken)? Not even a crouton and super salty. As for my $19 Shrimp Bisque?? It's lumpy! (And also super salty) - can't even eat this, going to order something else for dinner.

I was greeted by name as we entered the premises; I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised. Does Open Table spy on me via my iPhone? lol! Obviously, we had reservations; they are not psychic, lol! The place is small, I could say, it sorta resembles someone's house (IMO). It's nice. Comfortable. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The staff was very accommodating, the manager (or owner?) was very friendly, our waiter was a bit on the "all business", almost "rush, rush" side and who I'd say was the busboy seemed green. We ordered Porterhouse for 3, Lambchops, Ribeye for 2... Apps: Shrimp and Octopus... Dessert: Tiramisu and Cheese cake. The Ribeye looked splendid, the Porterhouse looked charred and dry and the Lambchops looked a bit underwhelming (again, IMO). I have grown accustomed to seeing porterhouse at steakhouses with butter. This place does not serve it that way. Upon taste... the porterhouse was great! I liked it better than the marvelously looking ribeye. The octopus was very tender and the asparagus went quite well with the meats. The rest of the items ordered were what'd expect them to be.

Great steakhouse. People there are really awesome. Food is great. Steaks are massive and has the classic Lugers look. Not sure if the steaks are aged. I don't believe so because I couldn't taste the rich beefy flavors. But who cares... steaks were still delicious. Sides were delicious. Ribeye for two or the tomahawk bone in was off menu. Don't recall which but I thought the ribeye was by far the most flavorful. Home fries were good but a bit chunky. Fries are crispy. Creamed spinach good. Sautéed spinach I liked better. Didn't realize a steakhouse of this caliber existed in Astoria. Happy it does and worth a visit.

Came for restaurant week, the food was okay nothing spectacular. The staff was nice though!

Long overdue but this restaurant still deserves full points for meeting our expectations. We all went for restaurant week & my friend wanted to celebrate our birthdays so standards were high! Although the menu was simple, it didn't disappoint - the foods came out fresh and flavorful and didn't make us feel bloated afterwards. I would definitely come again!

I took my bf here for his birthday after hearing good things about this place and honestly was a little disappointed. We ordered the porter house for 2, Caesar salad w/bacon, a slice of bacon, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and sautéed mushrooms w/ bordelaise sauce. The steak was good, exactly what you would expect from a steak house. It was the sides that disappointed me. The mashed potatoes....I've had better, it wasn't creamy or seasoned well enough (that's just how I like my mash). The spinach was watery and was not creamy at all, not what I expected. The mushrooms were probably the best side we had that day but it was more sauce than mushroom if anything. The bacon I would also skip, too fatty and salty. Overall, standard steakhouse but the sides were underwhelming. Personally would use this money at a different steakhouse.

This steakhouse was one of the few still operating with patio dining in Astoria. The meal was fine, nothing to blush about. The Prosecco was definitely served in the same glass ( 3 times) I guess they don't swap glasses out when they remove it from your table. I know this because my lipstick was still present on the glass lip when they removed it and when they replaced it The creamed Spinach was yummy as well as the grilled octopus and the service was friendly Would I return? Eh. Only if I'm already in the neighborhood and need outdoor dining . The experience wasn't mind blowing at all

The food here is amazing! For appetizers we started off with the grilled calamari, Buffalo mozzarella, and sautéed mussels. Those were very delicious. I ordered the grilled vegetable platter. An excellent choice for a vegetarian. My wife and son shared a porterhouse for two. It was cooked to perfection. Afterwards we shared a chocolate mousse cake and some cordials. Overall a wonderful evening.

Yesterday, along with a bunch of others, I braved the smog (blame Canada) to go to this Algerian…read moreseafood place. It was pretty quiet inside, outside of the TV playing somewhat loud highlights from the World Cup on loop (why,) with the servers and staff being helpful and friendly. In comparison to the other pick-your-own seafood spots like AbuQir or Hamido, the spices are a tad lighter here, being almost closer to Astoria Seafood, minus the olive oil. I didn't mind, though, as the fish was all fresh and perfectly prepared. To drink, our table stuck with water, though there are a few mocktails and some sodas, including some Algerian ones. They put down some simple bread with a bit of garlic and herbs, which was refilled. For non-seafood dishes, we had a few. The first was the $8 Hmiss, or Hammis, a dip made with roasted pepper, tomato, and garlic sautéed in olive oil. The warm dish was earthy and garlicky, and went perfectly with the bread, with the flavor reminding me of a warmer version of some Turkish eggplant dips. There was also the Peasant Salad for $12, with cucumber, tomato, red onion, and Kalamata olives topped with feta, oregano, and dill. If you're familiar at all with Horiatiki/Village salad, it's basically the same thing, though with crumbled feta instead of a block, and it was refreshing and tasty. Finally, we eventually got an $8 side order of Basil Garlic Mashed Potatoes, which were decent. The first seafood to arrive at the table was the $16.99 Algerian Sardines, which consisted of sardines from Morocco with a spice mixture. The man in front recommended them fried, and the portion was nice, and the flavor was excellent. The fish was fried perfectly, with the bones fried enough that the entirety of it could be eaten. This was delicious, and one of the highlights of the meal. As we loved these sardines, we eventually got a small order of the other option, the "Marinated Sardines" from Spain. These were a bit more expensive by weight, being $10.56 for 0.48 pounds, but by comparison, these were much flatter and larger. The half pound consisted of three large pieces, which were broken down and divided among the group. While I slightly preferred the spices from the Algerian version, I liked the texture of these more, as they were more meaty. I don't think you can go wrong with either, as both were excellent. There was also one pound of Mussels for $17.99, which was available in one of two cooking preparations, Moules Marinière or a version with tomato sauce, herbs, and feta. I went with the latter, and they were excellent, with all of the mussels being open. The feta added a unique, slightly salty touch, with the broth being delicious. They had brought us out some extra bread, and we made good use of it. If I were here alone, I might have this along with some sardines and leave very happy. We also got two whole fish, which were both ordered grilled and butterflied. First was the Dorado, or Orata, for $29.24 for 1.54 pounds. As is typical for this fish, it was delicate and light, but had plenty of flavor. The other was the American Red Snapper, which was a bit more expensive at $37.90 for 1.58 pounds. By comparison, this fish was a lot thicker and therefore, a bit more flavorful. We enjoyed both, with a slight preference going towards the cheaper fish for most outside of me and one other. Another highlight was the Scallops for $37.23 for 0.98 pounds, which came out to 14 large pieces. As recommended, we got these sautéed, with the scallops coming in a delicious garlicky juice on the bottom with plenty of other herbs. The scallops were tender while staying plump, though I slightly preferred the more caramelized tops at AbuQir, with these having a more uniform texture. The rest of the people liked what I couldn't eat, the $24.99 Octopus for around half a pound. The octopus came out pre-cut, which made splitting it very easy. I can't comment much on the flavor or saltiness as some other reviewers brought up, or else I'd be in the hospital right now post-anaphylaxis, but people liked it a lot. If you don't want to bother with the lines or crowds at the other fish spots, I would highly recommend going here. The fish is fresh, perfectly prepared, and seasoned just enough to highlight the natural flavors. I would go back.

I've never had Algerian-style seafood and was excited to try out Le Petit Pêcheur. We were a party of 6 and made a reservation that same day which was great! We arrived and got seated but weren't explained the process. First, you go up to the fish counter and order the fish you want, the amount you want, and the style you want it cooked (grilled, fried, or sautéed). They've done a great job with the display and I liked seeing the various options in front of me. The worker who helped us was super friendly and took the time to explain what each fish was. I also appreciate that their pricing is transparent (posted on their website). So why 3 stars? Once we finally ordered, we went back to our seats and ordered appetizers, sides, and drinks with our waiter. It took almost 40 minutes to receive the Greek Salad and Virgin Mojito we ordered. We had already received our Fried Calamari before that. Similarly, we got all the fish before the French Fries & Rice Vegetable Medley came out. It was frustrating and took away from the experience the fact that we didn't have the sides to eat with the fish at the time the fish came out. We literally had finished everything when the waiter came out with Lemon Potatoes which we had to send back considering it took too long to get them. It's a shame considering all the food we had was actually delicious. The Fried Calamari was crispy, tender, and not chewy at all, the Grilled Spanish Branzino was buttery, light, and delicious, and the Tiger Shrimp was grilled beautifully and the lemon olive oil mix just enhanced it even more. Even the Marinated Sardines were some of the best I've had. The fish was fresh, grilled/fried properly, and we truly didn't have a bad bite here. Prices are also more than reasonable. There's a clear lack of communication by the staff since two people within our group had provided their credit card to pay and they charged both. It's a shame we couldn't enjoy it as much as I hoped because of the operational issues. Hope they improve with time but until then, I won't be back.

I noticed some of the items on the display were frozen (red head shrimp) was one of the items. While they do not weight the seafood in front of you. The list the prices up front, so that was somewhat awkward process?? I ask for octopus, scallops, smelts, and a red snapper . The octopus was the most expensive item, it was marked $45 a pound.. We were then sent to 2nd floor for seating. Since we needed a table for 2, we got a very small table near the stairs. The table was so small, we knew right away that it be an issue given the amount of food we ordered. Our waitress came by and we added grilled eggplant, lemon potatoes and the beat salad. The brought us a small basket of pita like bread, hot, fluffy and delicious. So we had all the appetizers but the food took 30 mins and from the looks, it dis not seemed busy. In my opinion, the side dishes should be brought out with main courses but i guess thats NOT what they do here. I recalled asking at the counter for light seasoning on the red snapper. When the fish came to the table, it had some type of breadcrumbs and oil or butter. Which in my opinion is not bad but i appreciate the unique texture and flavor red snapper has all on its own. The octopus was good but i never had it sliced looking like bacon strips. Tasty but different, scallops had a little paprika, cooled perfectly. The smelts were fried just perfectly, like good french fries. I assume this restaurant is a mix of middle-Mediterranean cooking style. Food was tasty, style of service was definitely different. I will come back and try the lunch specials during the week. As a side note, accessing the restrooms was very confusing, they have 2 restrooms, there was a line to get into the restrooms. Very clean bathrooms for sure.

The atmosphere is effortlessly comfortable -- the kind of place where you just know everything coming out of the kitchen will be fresh. And it was. We started with an assortment of traditional spreads: taramosalata, tzatziki, tyrokafteri, skordalia, and melitzanosalata, all served with warm, pillowy pita. Each one was vibrant and flavorful -- perfect for sharing (or not). Then came the feast: marinated and grilled squid, swordfish steak, red snapper, lamb chops, crispy potatoes, and more sides than we could reasonably justify ordering... but absolutely did anyway. Our waiter thoughtfully asked if we had any allergies. By the end of the meal -- slightly comatose, blissfully full, and having completely lost track of time -- we realized the only thing we might be allergic to is work. Bahari isn't just lunch -- it's an escape.

My dad is Egyptian, so food like this carries real meaning for our family, and Sabrys delivered in every way. The moment we walked in, we were met with the kind of warmth and hospitality that makes you feel like a guest of honor. They treat everyone that way, which makes it even more special. The meal began with fresh housemade bread, incredible hummus, baba ganoush, and salad, and then came the fish. Honestly, the best fish I've ever had, and we've dined at wonderful restaurants all over the country. We ordered the grilled platter with calamari, shrimp, and salmon, plus a fried combo that was light and perfectly done. Not greasy, just real home cooking, like your Egyptian grandmother made it. The branzino was outstanding, and the rice brought me straight back to childhood. Every dish tasted like it was made with genuine love and care, because it was. If you want to eat somewhere that feeds your soul as much as your stomach, come here. We'll be back every chance we get.

Being honest, it's been a while since I have returned because I have favored Hamido Seafood lately, right after a previous love affair with Abuqir Seafood two doors down. Then there is the old reliable Astoria Seafood and the new kid on the block, Le Petite Pecheur, which I really enjoy as well. However, once again, Sabry's proves again that they have the best pitas in the business. A full basket comes with fluffy and chewy goodness that none of their competitors can match. I do wish their dips (babaganoush, humus, tahini) were better as I have mentioned, but they are all solid 7's. Onto the seafood. What an excellent version of Grilled Octopus (9/10), with maybe the best crispy char I have tasted in recent memory. I do wish the sauce had a touch of vinegar. Not a big deal. Another near perfect dish was their Grilled Sea Scallops (9/10). They were extra large, super tender, sitting in a pool of delicious tangy sauce (reminiscent of NoLa style BBQ shrimp sauce). The Grilled Shrimps (7/10) were slightly overcooked, while the Taojine Mixed (7/10) was somewhat watery and a bit too dill forward. Lastly, the broth of the Seafood Soup (7/10) was clean and light. The calamri and clams were still tender, but the shrimps were a tad overcooked once again. Clearly after this meal, I have to add Sabry's back into my rotation of pick your own seafood type of restaurants. This was the place where I had my first experience with Egyptian style seafood and it is still one of the best after all these years.

My favorite is the salad -- incredibly tasty, with very fresh vegetables. The bartenders deserve a special shoutout too: always friendly, smiling, and great vibes overall. Highly recommend to everyone. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to.

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.

I'm so glad we did. It was wonderful. Some of the best greek food i've ever had. The service was lovely. Thank you to Daniel. My friends and I ordered a bunch of stuff on the menu and it was absolutely wonderful. There is also very delicious complementary dessert. It is a small restaurant so it's very tight. If we wanted to get a table in the main dining room, the wait was estimated to be over 2 hours (we went around 8pm), so I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to go. The staff were very quick with service and very friendly. We were offered toasty bread with some lemon and an olive spread while we waited for our food (which also came out super quick!). We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. The octopus and lamb chops came out to $80~ pre-tax and tip. Would recommend if you're a fan of seafood!
