    White Chocolate Raspberry Pancakes

Went to Meli's Sunday morning at about 11:00. Everyone loved what they ordered. The White Chocolate Raspberry Pancakes were so good with Nutella. The meat lover's omelette had cheese and meat in every bite. Food came out fairly quick with the restaurant almost fully seated. Loved the decor on the walls and the vibe inside. Definitely would come back.

This place is the ultimate breakfast spot. Loved loved loved the fluffy pancakes. The breading on the chicken fried steak was crispy and delicious, covered in a sausage gravy that was creamy, hot, and spiced just right. My sister got the biscuits and gravy and those were perfection as well. We both enjoyed the scrambled eggs-something you'd be surprised how easily restaurants can screw up. Our server was very friendly and kept the coffee coming during our longish wait. I also appreciated the wide open space for the endless diners stuffing their faces with the wide variety of pancakes-including a flight of waffles & French toast if you want to try different kinds (I saw a blueberry, fresh strawberry, and fresh banana). It's not too loud in there even though it's full of people. All in all, a 5 star experience for me. Yes it took awhile for the food, but it was worth the wait. I'll be back to try the lunch menu next time I'm in town.

Not bad. We dropped by Meli's before hitting the road to head back to Chicago. It's a typical American breakfast spot serving hearty options ranging from omelettes, skillets, benedicts, waffles, pancakes, and wraps/burritos. While initially I thought the price point much lower than I would expect, the food portions match accordingly. Typically at breakfast places like this I end up with leftovers to take home, but in this case I was able to finish just about everything being smaller in portions. Not a bad thing as I was hitting the road to drive and didn't feel sleepy from overeating. Overall service was good, no complaints. Easy parking (free) in the adjacent lot. Last thing to note, is this place definitely prefers cash for payment. I chucked a little when I checked out. Default 25% tip on top of the 4% surcharge for using a credit card. Nice, but seems excessive. Anyways, that's all I got on this one. 'Til next time, cheers!

Atmosphere - not many soft surfaces so it can get a bit loud, think big city dinner level noise. Inside decor has good character with nice locks murals and rustic wood surfaces. Cheerful look and feel. Very friendly staff which is always a nice bonus. Carnitas Benedict & sausage patty side order - $11 Sourdough with poached egg, carnitas, avocado, hollandaise and hash browns. Great tasting and generous portions! I would get this again. Carnitas were tasty with the hash browns (asked for extra crispy). Mickey Mouse pancakes (kids) - sausage patty as the meat choice. $6 pancakes were light and airy. Over easy egg was perfect. Syrup comes out warm in a bottle. My kid liked it a lot and raved about the whipped cream. Chocolate Milk - I only like premix and this was perfect. No cheap chocolate syrup here. I will absolutely be back to try the crepes and a few other items!

The diner is cute and intimate. I loved their logo. Their food was okay, it is really the only local diner so there isn't much else to choose from. I wish the food was a little better. I would probably not get the crepes or the skillet again :/ My husband got the steak and eggs (medium), they overcooks it unfortunately

I think we went in a bad day (Sunday at 10 am). Food was good. Servers were friendly. Kitchen was short staffed. Long wait, food for 4 came out one by one. My group loved the chocolate chip pancakes and the waffles but the egg dishes were over cooked. Toast had the texture of a crouton. No drink refills at all. There are too many tables and not enough space to wait for a table so if it is raining outside (it was) the people waiting are standing right by the table where people are eating which is a little awkward. We were given the wrong check and had to straighten that out at the register which was a pain.

    Cute mural on the wall.

Yes it does "bite" here. They don't advertise that they have a breakfast buffet but for about…read more$15.00 each that's not much more than some of the limited menu items so we thought we'd give it a try, a mistake. The buffet was also a limited number of items. They were a few minutes late starting it after they opened and everything on it was basically cold. I'll give them barely warm, but that's a far as I will go. I thought maybe the idea was to let the warmers under the pans warm the food to a more edible temp but no that didn't work either. We were there over half an hour and I got another plate just to try a small sampling and nope, the food was no warmer than it first was. One other note anything to drink is NOT included in the buffet price. Expect to pay $2.99 for an iced tea or whatever. I guess in a way it didn't matter because the food served really wouldn't have been any better if it was warmer‍Not in my opinion. Slices of French Toast and mostly cut into 1/4 strips, cold and dried out. Warmed syrup (a plus) no butter to be found, you have to ask for it. Some sort of funky tasting seasoned potatoes. Neither my wife or I cared for the flavor. The biscuits weren't too bad. Some sort of milk gravy with cut up sausage links thrown into it. I say that because it doesn't appear that the gravy is made "from" the sausage as the gravy itself has no flavor, just bland. The sausage patties had an odd flavor. The sausage links were not bad. There was some bacon but we didn't try it. That's about all the buffet is, saw some cut up fruit off to the side. We decided to give it one more try for lunch. Thought it was somewhat unusual for a Saturday that we were the only two people there at 11:30 - 12:30. It still took half an hour to get our food! And ours were not difficult selections. The roast beef for the dip sandwich was well seasoned, I'll give them that. The curly fries though, those were a fail. Mostly over-fried, too hard. I will give them some credit for opening another choice for food selection here because Keller's Express is the only thing they've had for several years now for breakfast or lunch during the day. Unfortunately, this isn't much to solve that problem. It's nothing even close to 22 & Vine at Riverside Casino. Not to me it isn't. I wish the would bring back the full buffet for during the day that they once had. Or just open Keller's full restaurant for during the day.

It's down across from the river in an older building. There's a good amount of parking and tons of character! We sat outside on a nice night - there were probably 8-10 picnic tables as well as a good amount of seating inside. The beer selection was solid and included a number of nonalcoholic options. The food here is gastropub style stuff and was really good! The Cobb salad was a memorable one with a ton of meat. The kids got Philly cheesesteaks - those were unexpectedly delicious and included homemade cheese whiz. Another kiddo got a chicken bacon ranch flatbread - excellent and reminded delicious out of the fridge the following day! The pizzas looked good too and were (as we found) all available as flatbreads. The service was excellent and despite the busy evening, they got to us quick and took good care of us. We don't often plan to return to out of town spots, but this is one we'll definitely be back to!
