We've been on the hunt for a go-to pizza place for our little family and Mellow Mushroom has made its way into our rotation. There's something on the menu for everyone, which makes it an easy choice when we're trying to keep everyone happy. The pizza is really good, but what stood out to us were the hoagies and the wide variety of dipping sauces (my favorite is spicy ranch, yum!). When we bring the food home, everything still tastes great! Fresh, flavorful, and not soggy like some places can get with takeout. Honestly was not sure what to expect but their theme is a mix of aviation and drugs? I guess to signify how "high" you can get? The mixed signals in decor was the weirdest part for me tbh. I'm a good vibes and good food person and the vibes were not it for me The pizza was good, I liked the crust the best. My thing is, the smalls were already $20 each. We got 2 small pizzas (4 slices each) and the total was $40, and when you see the pics of the pizza you'll see why I had to dock it a star. The amount of pizza for the price is NOT worth it. The buffalo chicken was good, good chicken, good sauce ratio. The house special pizza was supposed to have pepperoni and sausage as well as the veggies of a supreme and although it was loaded with toppings. It was mainly veggies and not a lot of meat. This Mello Mushroom is very upbeat and new. It's on the corner when you turn in. Plenty of parking in front of a cookie place. Did not go around back to see what the parking situation was. Inside is very modern. The bigger tables are in the bar area. I waited there for my pizza because I got it to go. The hostess was very nice and took my order. She gave good directions for the loo. The loo was clean and well kept up. She also offered up napkins and silverware to go as she showed me my pizza. Overall it was a good experience. I just wish we had one closer to Leesburg. read more

Visited Mellow Mushroom on a Sunday and our table ordered the Great White Pizza, a build-your-own pepperoni and sausage pizza, Cloud 9 wings, and a Lil Caesar salad. The Great White was delicious--I'd rate it an 8.5/10. The crust was easily the highlight--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly baked. The pepperoni and sausage pizza was even better, a solid 9/10 with bold, classic flavors done right. The Cloud 9 wings, unfortunately, were a letdown. They came out lukewarm, so I sent them back to be reheated. Our server was nowhere to be found for about 10-12 minutes, and we had to flag down the manager just to get the wings warmed up. Even after that, they were just mediocre at best--5/10. The Caesar salad was fresh and tasty, and surprisingly, even the Diet Coke stood out--cold, crisp, and well-carbonated. The decor had a cool rustic-modern vibe, with airplane propellers on the ceiling that added a unique touch. Would I return? Definitely--for the pizza. Had the pleasure of being served by Barsha at Mellow Mushroom a few nights ago. She went above and beyond and didn't steer me in the wrong direction with her food recommendations. It has been a long time since I've dined at mellow mushroom and the only thing I could remember was how much garlic was on the cloud 9 wings. Barsha reassured me that they could make the wings and put the sauce on the side, or even just lightly coat the wings - which is what I did. Needless to say, the wings were cooked to perfection this time. Also, when she realized that I wasn't a fan of too much garlic, she made me aware that the Holy Shitake pizza did have a garlic sauce drizzle - that I was fine with but truly appreciated the warning. The pizza was absolutely flavorful. I ordered the small pie, which consists of 4 slices. This was more than enough paired with the wings. The slices aren't thin and they are of decent size. After enjoying all that I could, Barsha provided me with the cutest box specifically for leftovers that states "So nice, You'll eat it twice" - I love the little details and thought put into the box. The restaurant had music playing for the most part and it seemed that a trivia was also going on in the background. It gives off a "groovy" feel based on the colors and designs when dining in -- it was cute! Definitely a place for friends to gather, or even do a solo outing. It's possible to do a more chill or relaxed date, but definitely not for those looking to dress up or looking for that fine dining experience. There is seating outside under a nice covered patio area if the inside seems a little louder. We actually wound up staying until close and didn't realize it. We went here specifically because my wife is gluten intolerant and they offer gluten free pizza options. This is such an afterthought cash grab... it was the most horrendous tasting hard tack that they slapped an abundance of toppings on. Each bite felt like it could crack a tooth and tasted like regret. Not to mention it's an up charge for this obviously pre bought shelf stable tablets they serve as gluten free crust. Wife asked to get it to go and I could see the frustration in her face as she thanked the server and packed it up. After packed up wife took the kid to the car while I paid. This is when I broke off a piece of the crust to try. Absolutely disgusting. Service was fine polite and upbeat staff. Would never eat here again based off the obviously predatory business practices. Another social media fake hippy brand. The normal pizza tastes fine but still priced high off brand recognition. Whoever decided to add gluten free pizza to the menu and suggested this crust was ok should have to eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner for a week to see if they have any teeth left afterwards, if they haven't committed themselves after the horrendous taste drives them crazy. I come to this pizza place all the time because their menu is truly unique-- they have creative pizza combinations. My personal favorite is the Pacific Rim pizza. Service-wise, it really depends on where you're seated and who's taking care of your table. When we sit inside, everything is smooth -- quick service, friendly staff, and a great overall experience. But when we've sat outside in the summer, we've been forgotten about more than once, which is disappointing given how nice of an outdoor seating area they have. That's really the only reason I'm docking a star. This is still one of my go-to spots for pizza -- as my toddler loves coming here and the staff are typically very friendly. read more

I've loved Mellow Mushroom ever since college back in Charlottesville, so I was excited to try this spot in Chantilly. The Loaded Potato Pie always hits, and I tried the Holy Shiitake (not pictured) for the first time. It was actually very good- definitely adding it to my list of favorite pizzas from here. I recently ordered carry out so can't comment much on the ambiance, but from my brief visit the place felt bustling and like people were having a good time. I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza with added sausage. The price was comparable to most places around Chantilly, but a little more expensive than a couple of good places that have constant specials. My ASAP order took 40 minutes to fill, perhaps normal for a Friday evening. The pizza was amazing: nice crust, not too chewy and not too crispy. A teeny bit floppy in the middle but I could still eat a slice without having to use two hands. Very tasty pepperoni and crumbly sausage, and enough tasty sauce to know it's there and taste it in every bite. Good quality and amount of cheese. Everything was well distributed around the pie so that start to finish, every bit and every slice was great. This was my first visit to Mellow Mushroom and I will be back. This is our new go-to for pizza & wings anytime we visit the Virginia area! We visited family at Christmas time and needed a quick dinner option. So we ordered delivery to our hotel and the food arrived hot, when promised. The selection of pizza flavors is extensive. The mighty meaty pizza was loaded with toppings and not one bite was lacking. Our favorite feature was that you could split a pie half-and-half with any of their specialty flavors. Our "Hawaiian pizza" had half of the Pacific Rim toppings and half of the Maui Wowie toppings. It was incredible! It was nice to have so many flavors for the chicken wings and also many finishing options. My husband loves "flats" and wings that are finished on the grill. This is a go-to spot for pizza in the area. All their pizzas are solid and definitely unique! Used to get the "Holy Shitake," but it quickly becomes overwhelming and I can't have more than one slice at a time. Now, I'm into the house pizza, which is basically a supreme pizza with more meat. If you sign up online on their website, you can get a free order of the pretzel bites and cheese but there aren't any other benefits with making an account. The pretzel bites aren't actual pretzels, but seem to be their pizza dough rolled in some oil and parmesan? It was just unexpected, but tasted pretty fine. read more

She brought us three to-go cups for our refills! I asked for cups but the fact that she knew to refill them no questions asked was really awesome (might sound simple but trust me, as a former server in high school I knew when something was my fault or the staffs fault but either way the customer shldnt feel like it's their fault so I used to do the same with the extras if I knew that was the last thing I cld do to improve their experience before they left). Hello Mellow Fam, I have been a super fan of Mellow Mushroom pizza since 1982. I hung out in some of the original Mellow Mushroom pizzerias in Atlanta & Athens, Georgia "back in the day." My family and I were psyched to see a MM in Chantilly, on our route back to Astoria, NY. Nicholas, last night's server, was everything that "Mel" the Mello guy could have wanted in a team member. Totally familiar with the menu, fast and on point, Nic was one of the finest servers and very attentive people we have ever met. The food and atmosphere (shoutout to the playlist!) were amazing. The beer selection was abundant and the pretzels have a wonderfulness you can't find anywhere else. I found my favorite sandwich the avocado hoagie to be fresh and delicious as always. The two pizzas we sampled were non-parallel and , of course, we had to try the local Jerked Chicken hoagie. (Yes, a sizable to-go box was needed in the end). As a note, I am curious how the run-of-the-mill (frozen) tater tots fit in the delicious and ever-fresh Mellow Mushroom universe. Stick with Fresh baby and you can't go wrong. I don't recall the sandwiches coming with a side; I would recommend a rethink. The restaurant is located in a business strip in Chantilly, so there's plenty of parking around. For the four of us, we made the mistake of ordering a few medium pizzas. The mediums are HUGE! But at least we were all able to try different slices, especially because they allow you to choose two flavors on one pie, so half and half. We ordered the mighty meat and pacific rim, the Thai chicken, the buffalo chicken and the merry prankster and the house special. Plus, when you check in on Yelp, you get a free bruschetta appetizer. Crust options include their standard crust, thin or gluten-free. The pizza was solid. You'll want to come here with a large group and split flavors because there's a lot to like here. Of the pizzas, my favorite were the merry prankster and the buffalo chicken. The merry prankster had an aioli base with chicken, sausage, red and green peppers, white cheddar, mozz, with more of the herb aioli drizzle. If you like creamy white sauces, like aioli, then this is your jam! And because I love buffalo chicken, the buffalo chicken pizza here was solid, especially with the ranch drizzle on top. We've been to other Mellow Mushroom locations and we've always really liked their food. This one was no different. We went to this location because my brother was playing an acoustic show in the courtyard outside of the restaurant. We had friends join us and there was plenty of seating outside for us. It was a beautiful Saturday evening and everyone had a GREAT time. Our waiter, Jordan, was super attentive to our group and had an awesome attitude. So we swerved over and came into Mellow Mushroom, sans reservation. We were seated immediately and our server came right away. I don't know how to feel about her but my bf and I joked that she may have been a fairy sent to trick humans, but I think it was just that she (and many of the servers) are teenagers and teenagers are weird. Why did we think she was a fairy? I thought she was a bit off-put by me or something but super nice to my bf and he thought the same thing, except opposite, that she was sooo nice to me but not him. When we walked out, he said, "I think I may look like an ex cause she haaaated me!" and I'm like, "what?!?! You probably looked like an ex she misses and she hates me for it!" Jokes aside, she was a great server and made sure to constantly check in on us. The cocktails were good, if on the sweet side, but that's what I expect at a place like this. The food was epically good. I mean we made a huge mistake and got a full order of pretzels but we didn't care and took them back to our hotel. I'm so used to everything being over priced, that the price told me they were small. They are not. We got 6 full pretzels. But they were also, goooooood. The dough here is amazing. We also got a Greek salad and a BBQ chicken pizza. Both really large and really good. The manager touched our table, a nice touch that I always appreciate. When we hung out with friends the next day, we mentioned how good this place was and it turns out to be a chain. I'd never expect that since the food and service are so good.
