It has been a minute since I have been here. We use to go at least twice a month. It got to the point one of the servers, knew our order by memory. Everything is good here. Prices are higher than one may expect, but they have some super unique pizzas. Pretzel bites and normal pretzel apps are awesome. Cheese Bread is delicious. Wings are AMAZING. My go to pizza here is the Funky Q Chicken or the Great White. Typically do half and half. Service is good. Never had any issues, especially with the server that knows us. Parking can be tricky, tight parking lot, but has street parking as well. Super cool place, unique pizzas and great service. read more

We've been coming here for years, so this review saddens me. Went for my husband's birthday. The food was terrible, he got a calzone and he says it was 8 bites in before he even tasted pepperoni. A complaint that I have is that I wish the sauce on the pizza was more evenly distributed throughout. The tip of pizza was lacking sauce whereas the crust had plenty of sauce. I also do wish that the crust was more crunchy. Other than that, everything was okay.Here's a tip though if you decide to go here. Don't go here hangry because it does take about 30 minutes for the pizza to come out from the moment you order. Our waiter did warn us about how long it takes to make the pizza. Side note: Mellow Mushroom near TCU offers a free lil greek or caesar salad if you check in on Yelp. I gave Mellow Mushroom another shot because the manager reached out wanting to make sure everything was being made according to recipe after my last not so good experience and she offered a $20 credit. Honestly, I was hesitant because I assumed I would have the same bad pizza with poor sauce and flavor. Luckily, I had a very positive experience this time around. We were going to dine in but was told it would be a 45 wait, so we opted for take out. We ordered a medium Maui Wowie at $20.95. We were told that it would take 45 minutes to cook, so we went on a walk. We came back after about 20 minutes and it was ready! It's always nice when the food comes out faster than expected. We rushed home so it wouldn't get cold. It took a lot of strength to not eat it because the smell was hypnotizing. I took one bite and I knew this pizza was way better than the last. It was so tremendously flavorful with the jerk chicken, pineapple, ham, bacon, banana peppers, and pesto. The crust was perfect- crispy, light, moist. I never thought that banana peppers would work with pesto, but they absolutely do and went wonderfully with the sweetness of the ham and pineapple. The bacon was still a little on the fatty side, but it wasn't as bad as the last time I went. A medium sized pizza is good for two people to get full and have some leftovers. Overall this pizza was way better than the last. However, I cannot comment on the tomato sauce since the Maui Wowie didn't have any. If you're looking for very flavorful pizza and are willing to spend more, I definitely recommend the Maui Wowie at Mellow Mushroom. read more

Mellow mushroom is the type of place I want to take picky eaters and pizza lovers alike, people from out of town and people who have been before. Everyone's always happy with what they get and the experience at mellow mushroom. Okay I'll put it this way--the pizza is so good that on one of their suuuuper busy days a long time ago, my family and I were willing to wait 2 hours to get our pizza. We weren't even mad. We just didn't want to go anywhere else! It's the type of place where you look forward to eating the crust, you can close your eyes and pick something on the menu and love it, and where you'll take home that half-eaten pretzel all the way from the appetizer just because it really is THAT good. What else...They do have gluten free and it's not gross. The kosmic karma is my favorite pizza (pesto and sun dried tomatoes and feta and other stuff) but the classic cheese pizza is also my favorite. Their ranch is really good so get a side of that. The Mellow Mushroom reminds me of my college days when I'd go to Asheville, NC for the day. It's hippy, it's quirky, it's the Mellow Mushroom. I've been to several over the years and this one just didn't seem to be on it's game. Granted it was "National Pizza Day" which I didn't realize but it was packed, and they didn't even have a special! The parking here is very limited so be prepared to park on the street if you need. Inside it's clean and neat. It was never too loud which is always a plus for me. The waiter while nice wasn't as attentive as he should have been. It was very European hands off service, even to get a drink refilled. We ordered a build it yourself veggie pizza with onions, roasted red peppers, and basil. The peppers tasted like marinated mushrooms which was a turn off. Also they were really stingy with the basil. To make things worse both me and my spouse were a bit sick the following day so it makes me question the kitchen. I definitely won't be back to this location as there are far better pizza options around. read more

Their vegan cheese is probably insulted to be paired with bacon, chicken, and the other things I put on my pizza, but it is very tasty and filling. A small pizza is easily 2 meals, a large 4. There is often a backup for delivery times, but it is worth planning ahead as this is an amazing pizza. Their crust is the perfect density and tastes like gourmet bread by itself.
