We went to Mellow Mushroom in Fort Worth as a family while out doing back-to-school shopping, but unfortunately the experience was very uncomfortable. One of the workers, Sammy, made inappropriate comments to my 16-year-old about being skinny and kept bringing up body-image-related topics. Those kinds of comments are completely unnecessary and inappropriate, especially when directed toward a minor. It made the situation uncomfortable for our family and took away from what was supposed to be a nice family outing. On top of that, the pretzel bites we ordered came out burnt, which was another disappointment. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses both the food quality and, more importantly, the way employees interact with young customers. It had been quite a while since my wife, and I've been to Mellow Mushroom. It was close to dinner time; we were out running errands and couldn't figure out where we wanted to have dinner. Mellow Mushroom came to mind; we headed that way. We're glad we did. After being seated, Peyton, our server asked if we had any questions and took our drink orders. We were wimpy this evening and ordered sodas instead of beer or a cocktail. We decided on a small "House Special" and a Small Greek Salad. All went well, Logan took excellent care of us while we were at the restaurant. We're glad we ordered a small instead of a medium, it was the perfect size for the two of us especially considering the size of a small salad. The pizza was totally yummy, and we left with happy tummies. If you're looking for really good pizza then Mellow Mushroom is the place. 1st time here and there was 5 of us so we got 2 Medium pizzas (4 of us shared the 2 pizzas). We got the Philosophy Pie and the Loaded Potato Pizza. For the appetizers, we got the Pretzel bites w/ the PBR beer cheese and the Cloud9 wings. The Pretzel bites were very fresh and the beer sauce was just the right consistency. As for the wings, they were very delicious. Just the slight hint of spiciness and it was good by itself. We forgot it was supposed to come w/ Ranch. The Philosper's Pie had pitted olives which was unexpected but all slices were eaten. The Loaded Potato pizzas just like a baked potato. It had slices of baked potatoes and all that was left were 2 slices because we were all so full. Service was good as well, we were checked on by the staff several times. Overall, this is a great pizza joint to visit if you're ever in Fort Worth by TCU. read more

Mellow Mushroom Fort Worth is Mellow Mushroom #7 on my quest to rate all the Mellows, and the final Mellow of 4 I've been to in DFW. The vibes of this Mellow were my favorite of DFW's 4 Mellows (McKinney, Denton, Arlington, and Fort Worth). Although none of the 4 lean strongly into the eclectic decor (The "best decor" title in my experience belongs to the Athens, GA Mellow and Denton wins for DFW), this one had a small-town kinda feel that the others didn't. Probably because it's right next to TCU. Of all 4 DFW Mellows, Fort Worth also wins the "Fastest time to put out 1 large specialty pizza" award, clocking in at a clean 17 minutes and 44 seconds. Yes, I timed it, and yes, that'll be a criterion going forward as I rate the remaining 120 Mellow Mushrooms. We tried out the new Merry Prankster specialty pizza and loved it. I'm traditionally a "Mighty Meaty," "Funky Q," or "Pacific Rim" guy myself so didn't think I could fall in love with a new specialty. This place used to be great, the last time I got food from here I was incredibly disappointed. The beer cheese tasted like spearmint gum for some reason and the pizza had no flavor at all. I had this amazing place once in Memphis and googled to see if I had one in my area and to my surprise it is one 7 minutes from me. I was worried that it couldn't be the same one from Memphis but when I tasted that "Holy Shiitake" pizza I knew it was the same brand!! I have not been to a MM in years but remembered it fondly. It's even better than I remember. The crust is so good, they're not afraid to use garlic, and the toppings are varied and fresh. This is the NEW Mellow Mushroom! Great food AND service! VisiTed Friday night and first question we ask was " How long will it take for us to get our pizza?" The last two visits we actually had to leave because after an hour and a half we had not gotten our food. Not this visit! Trinity seated us immediately and Jake was there to take our order in less than 5 minutes! Our pizzas were perfect with the modifications we requested, fresh and hot and delicious! Jake was perfect! Not overbearing, but attentive. The manager, Nicole, came by to see how it was going. We said it was the best we had ever had at MM. Nicole said she began there in January. Walked into this location were seated with menus after some time. Literally were passed by 3 different servers without a word within a 10-15 minute period. Another couple walked in and were seated immediately, their behinds had barely touched their seats and their server was already bringing plates and silverware. Not sure if this is racially motivated or just poor service however I will never return to this location. Spoke to the manager and no one took accountability for how things went. I took my family to eat here because I had a pleasant experience last time I went, which was about 10 years ago. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and the hostess took my name. I told her we preferred a booth (I have many reasons why we prefer booths, one of which is I have an anxiety disorder and find it difficult to eat when strangers can watch me). She said "no problem". When we sat down to wait, there were 3 booths open, nobody sitting in them. A few other parties came in after us, 2 of which were immediately seated (one of those just sidestepped the hostess & seated themselves) and one which were seated in the waiting area with us to wait. When the hostess said we could be seated, she said "sorry but there are no booths available" even though there were 2 open & empty, so we were seated at a table in an open area next to the bar. (There were no signs at the booths saying "reserved" or "private", either.) Immediately after we were seated, the OTHER party that came in after we did were seated in one of the open booths. The server tried to say they had a reservation, but I don't believe that, because if they actually had a reservation, why did they have to wait in the waiting area? I think they were friends of the hostess or somebody, and so they got preferential treatment. Neither I nor my family will ever bother trying this place again, and I am going to notify people on my social media to avoid this place as well. It's a shame because if we were treated well, we could've spent a lot of money in there as well as brought in more business. Oh well. read more

Kids who don't like to eat crust will gobble it up. I love a good mushroom soup, and the Magic Mushroom Soup is a tasty good mushroom soup! PRO TIP... Parking can be rough on a busy night so drop off the family at the front door and park in the roundabout just outside the restaurant. Been living in FW for 2years now and finally got the chance to come to this place. Came in on a Sunday and it was not busy at all; it was around 12:30 I believe. Sat down outside in the patio. And it was actually pretty nice. Service was pretty good. Felt a little rushed but it was decent. We have this habit on asking the server what they think about their food and what are some of their favorites and stuff like that. I personally love restaurant that educate their servers on their food; they should know it inside and out. But she didn't. Food was pretty great though. We ordered half and half. White shark and meat lover thing. And we ordered bruschetta also which was pretty spectacular. So definitely no complaints on the food. We sat outside in the patio, and the flies are unbearable. They were uncontrollable for sure. They need to find a way to control that, because you concentrate more on shooing the flies instead of eating the food, and that's our main complaint for sure. We've been coming here for years, so this review saddens me. Went for my husband's birthday. The food was terrible, he got a calzone and he says it was 8 bites in before he even tasted pepperoni. The quality just wasn't the same. I got wings but they were terrible so I canted for the meatballs. They were cold and the cheese in the middle was hard. Service was okay, she was bubbly. Been using this location a few years now and if you eat in there might not be a problem, but I ordered pizza to pick up. One gluten-free Mighty Meaty and one regular small Mighty Meaty with thin crust. The boxes were not marked as to which was gluten-free. Even looking at the pizzas, I could not determine which was which since the boxes were not labeled. Being sick for days after eating what should have been a treat is not what I had in mind. It ruined our day and I'll be ill for several days. The manager did not seem to care and just stated they never mark the pizza boxes. Never offered any sympathy or tried to make it right.
