I'm not quite sure what it is about the restaurant and fast food locations in the Brier Creek area. It seems that a lot of people are getting on a lazy streak these days in regards to service. I believe that it could be quite simple as long as you are listening and paying attention. I am actually quite familiar with this establishment as this still is a frequently visited place w/ friends anywhere I am in NC or other states. However, the Brier Creek location was a miss. I have normally seated inside when going to this location and I have done pick up orders a couple of times. This particular pick up order was not cater to how it was customized. I placed an order on the website for order of the Cloud 9 wings and an order of cheese bread. Now, I don't think there's a way for you to mess up cheese bread. However, when you don't have it somewhere where it can be keep hot until pick up by the time you get home is cold bread with a sheet of cheese ‍... just sayin. The wings we customized on the order to be CRISPY and ALL FLATS. Being a repeat customer shows trust that you don't have to check the order to make sure it's right. I trusted when I shouldn't have. I received 9 wings --4 flats and 5 drums and not ONE was crispy. I would've over looked it if the wings were cooked the way I asked... bummer. The wings are damn near 15.00 and I can't get my wings how I want. I know it ain't Burger King or anything but damn, if you don't honor the request, why give the option? Don't worry, I'll wait. Now I will say.. if the selection made were my fault I own it, But if reflecting different on the order ... I would think someone would call or just go by what the receipt states. Each ranch was 1.50 and the cheese bread is 7.00... It's a shame when you food ain't up to par and as I said before, more frustrating b/c it's money SPENT! *retraction due to unavailable option to post video* .....and don't get me started on the celery and carrots... the celery was looking like aloe vera! like thick which makes me feel someone was lazy. Please try the holy shiitake pizza; it's incredible. How have I lived without it my whole life? The sauce and mushrooms were completely amazing. We also added artichokes, which was an excellent choice. We ordered another pizza with blue cheese, pineapple, provolone, and mozzarella. It was also really good. Typically don't write reviews but this was the worst experience I had at a restaurant. Would highly suggest not coming here - or if you really want Mellow Mushroom then go to the Durham or Cary locations. We waited an hour and a half and still never got our food, so we ended up leaving. Manager and waiter kept providing different excuses. After over an hour and a half and the waiter confused once again about what we actually ordered, we decided to leave. Bad customer service with no apologies or sympathy from waiters or manager. Totally understand that restaurants can be so busy and understaffed, but it was half empty and some servers were standing around. Take out had a lot of people waiting for a long time too. read more

RE: recent curbside order Cloud 9 Wings--Garlic/Parmesan were delicious and packaged well. Spinach-artichoke dip w/ garlic toast was mostly creamed spinach and the toasts were stale. FYI--curbside will ask for car details and says to park and the order will be brought to you. After parking in a designated spot, I sat outside for 10 min past time then went in. The manager happened to be standing there and said you have to call. She had no explanation as to how I was to know and offered no apology for the erroneous website saying they can't see the parking lot. I rate customer service poor. read more

Ordered food to go. Two medium pizzas, salad, wings and soup. The pizzas showed up in about 45 minutes. The salad and wings about 10 minutes later. Another 10 and I have the soup. Yay! Ah, Mellow Mushroom. Whenever I visit one of their locations I know I'm in for a good time. You always feel welcome. The smell of warm pizza fills the air and the unique decor is always a site to behold. I've now been to 7 different locations in 2 states and I can say with confidence this new location in Brier Creek matches the standard of quality I've come to expect. First thing you notice is the clean looking exterior. Brick and black steel on the front, sharp looking signage. Just looks like a cool place to be. Once you pass through the wooden barn door entrance you get a sense of just how big this restaurant is. Huge main sitting area, more seats next to the bar, and a massive outdoor patio in the back. I imagine this place is even more popular in the summer, as the patio not only has additional seating, but party games like cornhole and giant jenga as well. We ended up seated in a comfy booth next to the bar and ordered our drinks while we looked over the menu (they have paper straws if you're curious). The menu itself is a work of art. Beautiful detail on every page, and each specialty pizza gets it's own cute little illustration. We got an order of the pretzels (with parmesan) as an appetizer for the table and my wife and I split a medium pepperoni while our good friend Tony ordered a Mighty Meaty. Pretzels were delicious. Made from the same base dough as the pizza crust with a nice dusting of parmesan on top, served hot with some fresh marinara for dipping. Pizza itself was equally as good. Crispy crust, plenty of fresh mozzarella, pepperonis cooked just to the point of curling up at the edges. A real good slice of pie. Our waiter was wonderful too. Not once were our glasses left below half full. Got to love an attentive staff. Maybe one day I'll have to make a list and try to visit every Mellow Mushroom location. Every one I've been to has their own unique style and decor, but the same level of quality and delicious food. I know having that many locations makes them a chain restaurant, but each and every one feels like an individual local hot spot. Can you tell I really like their pizza? One hour and 35 minutes to get a medium cheese pizza. One hour and 20 minutes to get a meatball appetizer and Cobb salad. One hour and 20 minutes to get a nine piece chicken wing. This was an eat in experience and the restaurant was not busy at all, except in takeout. read more

We love Mellow Mushroom, so we were surprised to see this location had such a mediocre rating. The Cobb salad was missing the bacon and barely had any chicken. The carry-out "system" is badly broken and offers a long and chaotic wait. We'll order elsewhere from now on. read more

First let me say Mellow Mushroom has the best pizza, but this location just the X! I have visited this location 3 times (1 for sit down & 2 for takeout) and have received bad experiences all 3 visits. The sit down our server had an attitude the moment they came to take our order and told us that if we wanted a pizza we "better be prepared" to wait 1 hour. The 2 times I ordered takeout the food took over 30 mins past the time it was supposed to be ready, and the last time was an adventure. I walked in for my order and purposefully waited 10 min past the pickup time. Guess what they told me, yep the pizza would be about another 10 min. Came back 10 min later, they told me the oven burnt the pizza and they had to make another one. I asked for a refund and the manager came and said oh sorry we lost your ticket. I told them, well your staff just said the pizza was burnt (dislike when people do not know something so they lie). Again love Mellow Mushroom but this location is hands down bottom tier. read more

This location can't keep up with business. I've been to the location and the food is solid, but it takes a LONG TIME to get food. Also, don't think about ordering To Go because the wait time is crazy and even then... they never get the food out on time. This is a newer addition to the Brier creek area and I am glad it's here! The space is nice with a good bar area and also a really nice outdoor area. The food and service were both really good! We are all entitled to our own opinions, right? Well here's mine: Parking: 3 Location: 4 Decor/ambiance: 5 Customer Service: 5 This happens to be the newest, hottest pizza spot and all of our RDU. Well I can't say all of our RDU even though this is my opinion but I honestly do feel that this is like the newest thing popping for pizza in Briar creek. Let's just say that and leave it there. So let's get into this review shall we? This place is busy with cars and people every time we go pass. There is so many cars that sometimes you see people parked out across the street trying to cross the street to get to this pizza spot. They have so many cool things to do out back for the patrons. They have a really neat patio that is full of eclectic things to see plus a full bar that hangs off the right side of the restaurant. This restaurant is super state of the art. They have the coolest lighting and some really nice fixtures to match the modern furniture that's place nicely throughout the building. The decor was strategically put together to draw your attention to the center of the room. The kitchen is an open concept where you can see what's going on. We were greeted by Haley and she took our to go order. Haley was really friendly and she made the experience awesome as she smiled giving us lots of good suggestions. We were later greeted by a young man named Josiah. Josiah was standing at the door and saw us walking around the building admiring the restaurant he stopped us to tell us a little about the business and to discuss some of the cool things that he loves about the place. We nearly spent about 35 minutes wandering around the building, playing outside outback, checking out the bar and just taking pictures to place on yelp. After 35 minutes of doing all this we still didn't receive our pizza. I understand that the restaurant is new and they are probably still trying to work out kinks but that kind of sucks for us as we hung out waiting 35 minutes for pizza. Once we got the pizza Haley was super apologetic about everything and she did an amazing job making sure that we were pleased. Kudos to Haley for that. Unfortunately because of the amount of time that it took to receive the pizza and the other little items that we ordered I'm gonna leave this one at a whopping three stars. The pizza was great but NOT made to our request. We record toppings that we didn't order. This would have been awesome if they were toppings we actually liked. Unfortunately we recurved pineapples on our pizza and we did NOT order that. Maybe this was an oversight of the kitchen. The appetizer that we grabbed was amazing. I have ordered take out twice from Mellow Mushroom and really enjoyed the food both times. Ordering online was very easy and the customization options make ordering allergen friendly. The staff were super friendly, and they always double check your order to make sure you walk out with the right stuff. The food also came out very promptly. For pizza, I love the house special. It comes fully loaded with a plethora of meat and vegetables. It's just layers and layers of awesome toppings. My favorites are the applewood smoked bacon, ground beef, and tomatoes. Everything tastes super fresh and the dough is so light and fluffy. It doesn't taste nearly as dense or greasy as a run of the mill chain pizza. I also love the gigantic calzones! I would definitely recommend the steak calzone. It's basically a philly cheese steak in the calzone. First time at this new location. Beautiful building inside. We went for lunch. No problem parking or getting seated quickly. The lunch portions were a little large so we ended up taking home leftovers. I got the small pizza. Love the flavor and texture of their crusts. There's just nowhere else that compares. Service was good. They even have a spot inside to buy the logoed hats and shirt. Will definitely come back. It's convenient to RTP and Brier Creek area. read more

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT BRIER CREEK LOCATION!!! First off, my daughter and I were greeted by NO ONE for quite awhile. Even a man waiting in back of me asked where the hostess was. Then, a young girl hostess finally arrived. She asked if my daughter (a minor) and I wanted to sit in the bar. I said, "No. We would like a table" Mind you, they were not even busy with many occupied tables. The hostess responded, "But I would have to clean a table off." Then, she REPEATED the same words, "I WOULD HAVE TO CLEAN A TABLE OFF." To which I replied, "Then clean it." We ordered 2 Greek salads and 1 Cosmic Karma pizza with chicken & 1 Holy Shitake pizza with chicken. It took FOREVER to get our food. Not once did our incompetent waitress come check on us or even simply touch base to communicate a reason for us waiting over half an hour for our food! My daughter ran out of water so I gave her mine because the waitress couldn't even do that for us. I finally found her to inquire about our pizzas. Only THEN, did she bring them. My pizza was a horrible, soggy mess drowned in the sauce that should be drizzled. I have eaten at Brier Creek before and specifically went there because it had been good. I've also eaten at the Mellow Mushroom on Peace St, the Wake Forest location and in Boone, NC. I KNOW what the Holy Shitake Mushroom pizza should look and taste like. Meanwhile, no plates were even brought to the table. I had to go up to the front to a plate for my daughter. Then, the manager came out to apologize and remake my pizza. He offered to take it off the bill. I even showed him a pic on my phone of previous Holy Shitake Mushroom pizzas I've eaten and what it should look like. Eventually, he brought out the replacement in a to-go box. Then to find the waitress to even get another box or even the bill was wasted time waiting and waiting again! I could have just left and no one would have noticed. That's how unaware and inattentive they were! I finally got another waitress to get mine. I just got home hungry after this nightmare, and went to eat my pizza I ordered with added chicken. Yep, NO CHICKEN on there! This was a HORRIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE from the arrival to the lack of an active server, to the food, to the remaking of the food WRONG AGAIN! On a side note, my daughter and I do not eat out alot because I'm a single mom on a tight budget. So, it was something we had been looking forward to and special. Also, we had worked out hard in the gym and this was not only an anticipated treat. We specifically needed the added chicken as extra protein. Nope That was a fail too. After Church we stopped by Brier Creek Location. 12:30 or 12:45. We ordered two subs with tots. We were seated at a table in the Bar. The bar tender was the best. Our order took forever. (1) 6" Meatball sub w/tots, Water. (2) 12" Steak and cheese sub w/tots, water. Both Tots tasted like it was straight from the freezer or had been covered with freezer burn. ( Lots of ketchup helps) The Meatball sub was cold and by cold I mean it was heated on the outside and still almost frozen on the inside. The Steak sub was luke warm. We did complain to the Bar tender. She said let me see what I can do. So when I went to pay I said don't worry about it. She said that's ok I don't know what code to type in. I have loved Mellow Mushroom since the 1990s and I hadn't had it since then. Finally, a pizza from the cool 'shroom. The chain is big time now with fancy restaurants with outdoor patios. The pizza is still great. I used to also have their subs. I wish I had eaten in, but I did carryout. Will definitely go here again, even if it's actually someplace else. Mellow is probably consistent with its offerings throughout the chain. At least it used to be. If it has franchised, all bets are off. They have wonderful pizza at this one. For sure. read more

Pizza taste is always inconsistent. Some days good, others bad and never anything in between. My pizza tonight was awful and cookies were stale!! The website for this location, closest to my home, always says cannot process order due to being busy when trying to order delivery. Thank goodness for the door dash app though. The most laughable is the pizza and cookies I received this evening had Tamper Evident stickers on the pizza box and cookie wrappers. While staying at the Embassy Suites for my daughter's birthday party, I ordered delivery from their website (which says NOTHING about the fact that they use Door Dash for their deliveries), and the order never arrived. When I called the location, they said it wasn't their problem - it was a Door Dash problem and that I should contact Door Dash. After speaking to 3 different managers, they finally offered to remake my ($93) order, but refused to deliver it. SO Disappointed! read more

This is a newer location just past the Brier Creek Country Club area. There seems to be ample parking and an area where you can sit outback and let your kids let off energy. The day we went was rainy and we did a very early dinner so the restaurant was a bit empty. I had a coupon for free pretzel bites and had no issues using it. The server was wise enough to put that in and wait a bit before putting the rest of our order in. We had several managers come over and make sure we were good with everything. The pretzel bites were delicious, as was the beer cheese dip, which I wanted to drink, it was so tasty. One kid ordered Mac and cheese and it not your typical kraft box Mac and cheese but really Mac and cheese. She said it was good. My other child had the kids pepperoni pizza and it is served as a French bread pizza. He also was satisfied with it. I ordered a Holy Shitake small pie, leaving the onions off and on a thin crust. It was just crusty enough and full of flavor. A bit greasy but I didn't mind. Overall we were treated nicely, the food was good and we left full. We will return. We started our date night at Mellow Mushroom Friday night (8/30/2024). We did not have to wait to be seated and the server was friendly. We placed our order and received our drinks and salads in a timely manner. My partner received his order there after while I waited on my entree. I waited and waited while watching my husband finish his food . Eventually our server checked on us when my husband made her aware (after 40 minutes of my husband receiving his entree) that I never received my food. The server stopped and located my food that was put in the warmer. The server apologized and said she would "comp" something on the check for the delay in receiving my food. When she brought the check; what she promised never happened and she gave us a very awkward thank you. We paid our check and left feeling very disappointed by our experience. My food was in the warmer for 40 minutes which resulted in receiving warmed, dried out food. It is doubtful that we will return to the Mellow Mushroom in Briar Creek, NC. read more

Having worked many years in a restaurant, I understand that a newly opened location can take time to get on its feet. The service we received would've been acceptable if the place just opened but this is not week 3 for this location. Warm (not hot) food and slow service. Additionally, it took at least 20 mins for an appetizer (pretzel bites and beer cheese). The place was not busy and there were 4 or 5 men in the kitchen. Did not look like there were many servers helping run food which may explain why the food was warm and not hot. Please check on your tables more than 3 times during your service to them and please provide plates when people, which you confirmed we were, are sharing a pizza. I hope this location improves over time but until then, downtown on peace street will still reign as the best location in Raleigh. read more

I had a terrible experience today at the brier creek location. I was seated and then I just waited for 10 minutes as everyone around me orders were taken and were being served. Even people who came after me. I kept waiting, and no one came to my table.. I ended up having get up and leave because despite trying to make eye contact with several waitresses I couldn't get any attention. I told the hostess know what had happened. They apologized and I left so I could find a place where I wasn't invisible. I don't know what happened because it wasn't very busy but this experience made me feel terrible. We went to Mellow Mushroom for the first time in Brier Creek and were very pleased with the food and service. We were seated immediately in a booth on request. Our waitress Jill was very pleasant, attentive and helpful with suggestions. We ordered an artichoke dip appetizer which was creamy, cheesy deliciousness served with toasted garlic bread. For dinner we had a small pizza with spinach, feta, fresh sliced tomatoes, onions, and sausage. It was delicious. The crust was light bubbly, fluffy, crispy and flavorful. The manager even visited our table to check on quality and service. The price was absolutely reasonable, less than expected. We were so pleased this is our new go to pizza restaurant! read more
