I recently became pescatarian so I decided to try the Veg Out pizza but sadly it wasn't as good as my previous order of the Funky Q Chicken. Been to mellow mushroom here countless times, as well as on our travels to Asheville, etc..a always been a favorite. Sadly, Mellow mushroom is no longer special. On the box it says brick oven since '74 or something. We walked in to pick up our pizza to see the brick ovens gone, and tacky gas station vibe conveyor belts rolling out cooked pizzas. So sad. Needless to say, our pizzas that I had ordered thin crust and crispy, were squishy and flaccid. I was in there a couple of weeks ago. I had a great time. It was cool that it was in an old Pizza Hut restaurant. The place has a great vibe and the food was good! The service was great. Our waitress (I believe her is Kayla?) I remember she is a Billy Strings fan. She made the experience so good. A complete joy to talk to. She was so professional and personable. I love that the kids menu was on a coloeinf page but with a variety of fun things for my son to do. I brought my siblings and husband with me and we have a wide variety of taste and diet restrictions but we were all able to find something we could each enjoy. Only slight downside was the waitress didn't seem comfortable when my sister started to ask more in depth questions regarding ingredients and no sense of urgency when it came to taking our orders or checking in on us. Probably not a huge surprise that MM has gotten so far away from its origins as it franchised...but....it used to be THE BOMB but now is kind of a dud. I recommend getting two smaller pizzas if you want to leave out certain items on only half the pizza. It was rather difficult trying to get the correct pizza with doing half and half. The manager was great by giving us a discount after 2 attempts! They also tried to give the sauce and onions on the side to remedy the holy shiitake side; however, it was still not as delicious as it normally is with it all cooked in. I haven't been to Mellow Mushroom recently. Our family members, spread out all around Raleigh and surrounding communities, decided it to be a centralized location. We ordered three large pizzas since 3 of our group of 6 were men (bigger eaters). The pizza options had something to please all - meat eaters and veggie eaters in our group. The pizzas were piled with toppings and piping hot. All three were yummy. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Ordered two pizzas to go and boy were they delicious. Didn't actually go inside the establishment but looks like a nice place from the outside. The lady on the phone who I placed my order with was knowledgeable and helpful and my pizza was ready when she said it would be. No complaints there. Only thing I wish I would have done was get a dipping sauce for the crust. The crust is great but can be a little bland if the toppings don't go all the way to the edge. Such a vibe this place is! If you go during peak hours, you'll definitely have to wait. Servers are friendly. Ordered the Great White, Holy Shiitake and a Veg out GF and Vegan pizza. They were all delicious, cheesy, surprisingly even the GF and Vegan. The borders were too thick, look at the Holy Shiitake, I mean i would have like the borders to be thinner so that I could get more toppings. I am someone who doesn't eat the outer crust at all. Though it is a part of a chain, and I usually prefer local pizza joints, Mellow Mushroom has proved itself to me as the most reliably great pizza in Raleigh that I've had - both for takeout and dine-in. The pizza's bake is always spot on, neither over or under cooked. The quality of the ingredients is high as well. I brought family here when they visited from out of town and they reacted by turning their nose up at the idea of a chain instead of a local place. They loved it so much that they now say there is no need to go anywhere else. It is worth dining in at least once to see the cool wall art. This place has a unique vibe to it and theming extends even to the psychedelic menu. It's a lot of fun to see, and the servers we have had were all kind and attentive so far. Pretty good place for food. For our appetizers, we ordered pretzel bites but they came with a long hair in it. Nevertheless, the waitress was kind and quickly took the item back. The manager returned back with our new plate which was a nice touch. We each got our separate pizzas and they were delicious, I'll say that. Overall the all the food was amazing and the service was great. Just a note, the place is a bit loud so don't expect this to be a nice and quiet dinner location. We ordered pretzel bites, tater, tots and a mighty meat pizza. I had to remind the server( Brittney) about the pretzel bites and tater tots after the whole table had got their appetizer. The pizza took an hour to come out, everyone else at the table had finished eating before it came out. They forgot to put in the order because when it finally came out it was hot and they messed up the way the piece were cut so some were smaller then other. The only reason I giving it a 2 star is because the manger was very nice and took off from our total. I have been visiting this Mellow for probably 20 years. They have so many tasty items on the menu. Before I was gluten free I loved the soft pretzel appetizer. Their salads are fabulous. I love the enlightened spinach salad and the Greek salad. Their dressings are really flavorful as well. On this particular Friday night we were seated immediately outside on the deck and the weather was perfect. It's such a fun spot on the corner of Peace and Glenwood. We asked to be seated in our favorite server's section. Eden is positive and energetic and always gets our order right. She quickly brought us our drinks and put in our food order. If you are gluten free, Mellow has good GF pizzas. I always order the Kosmic Karma -- such a great mix of flavors. And, because I'm a sauceaholic I asked for extra pizza sauce on the side. Everything came out just as I ordered. Son ordered a Cobb salad with no dressing. I guess it's yummy enough to eat without dressing!? My girlfriend and I were driving around downtown Raleigh when we came across these giant mushrooms outside the restaurant which immediately drew us in. We used Mellow Mushroom catering for our wedding, and they knocked our socks off! The catering coordinator, Noah, is simply amazing. He was very responsive and helpful as I determined what I needed to order to feed 215 people, delivery logistics, and display. I came out of the ceremony into the cocktail hour space and teared up because it was so awesome! Beyond what I had hoped for. The appetizers had a great set up and our guests raved. The pizza was also amazing as always (and why we chose them to cater our wedding). I wasn't involved in the day-of logistics as the bride, but my wedding coordinator spoke just as highly of Noah's timeliness, professionalism, and customer service.
