This place has consistently given us burnt pizza. We like the toppings and dough taste (when not burned). My husband likes their sandwiches and salads. I don't as I had a hair in the last one I got there. Servers are often friendly but sometimes hard to get your drink filled. Overall, I have eaten food from this wake forest location several times so I have given them a 'good college try' I have also been to several other MM locations and I will tell you this I give this one a D. If I was hungry enough I would reluctantly eat here again (I wouldn't get pizza) but there are so many good restaurants In the area I would rather go than here. Also if you love MM please still go but perhaps try another location. We told the manager finally after several burnt-let's try again-gross burnt again-sessions about the burnt pizzas but all she did was make us a smaller, UNDERcooked pizza to replace it (the kids wouldn't eat it bc it was raw). read more

My household eats here at least once every two weeks. For the pizza options in Wake Forest this isn't bad. The pretzels are tasty and the pizza is consistently mediocre. Service tends to be fair. I prefer to order online for pick-up, but be sure to check your order thoroughly...they have a tendency to not follow the ticket. Current management does read feedback and will reach out in order to try to rectify the situation, which is appreciated. read more

Unreal So we go to get two pizzas with a coupon. Granted I misread the coupon. But I had another coupon for 40 percent off but I was told I could not use it because the " computer was down" ( how are people paying ?). A normal manager would have pulled out a calculator and write up a manual ticket. So let's tally it up. The two pizzas that were in the oven, the money we would have spent there, our future business and a bad review. I worked at red lobster 4 years back in the day. Absolutely no way would that manager would have let a customer come to this outcome. And really I even say why write this up when I know they don't care. Update. I had driven past the downtown location many times, seeing their outdoors section always full on a nice day. Finding there was one in Wake Forest, myself and the family decided to stop by. In sitting down outside, I was immediately taken back to college from the name, layout and disco ball silently spinning in one corner. There is a great outdoor section with comfortable seating, a covered and un-covered area, with the covered area has a spiffy looking heating system which should do the trick at night. Toting a stroller for lunch, it was still easy to find a comfortable table. I picked up the vegetarian pizza which had a deep layer of peppers, onions, spinach, olives, tomatoes, and cheese. Unlike chain pizza places, the crust is so good you actually want to eat it. The staff rocks, very loose and look like they enjoy being there. It's good knowing I don't need to drive into downtown Raleigh to come back again. It was Saturday, I was bored and determined I would try something new. When I suggested the Mellow Mushroom and the hubs thought it was a great idea, I almost regretted the suggestion. I mean c'mon... Pizza? There's nothing special about pizza. Not the pizza I had here. I feasted on the Buffalo Chicken 10" pie drizzled in ranch and buffalo sauce. Hot damn! It was goooood. The hubs is on a veggie diet and had himself a Veggie pie with what he described as fresh vegetables. I'm one of those people that tosses the crust off her slice and will feed it to the dogs or throw it out. I figure, I'm done eating the good stuff right? Well, these pies were so good I ate every single morsel on my plate including the crust! The service was prompt. The drinks were strong. I do love Mellow Mushroom. I was so excited when the one opened in Wake Forest that we frequented it quite a bit when it first opened. Now, we utilize this locale for take-out, especially their bruschetta with feta cheese!! Yowza! My fave!!! The bread in all of their pizza pies makes them all worthwhile of any trip in our takeout to Mellow Mushroom. The calzones are to die for! I have found that the staff are not as "on it" as the Raleigh and Cary locations but they aren't bad. I also waited about 30 minutes longer than I should have once for take-out but the manager then gave it to me for free. If it is a nice day/night, outside seating is the best but it is often times a wait but if you are looking for an area without kids, go outside! read more

Some co-workers took me here for lunch this week. They're trying to show me the good places to eat around work since I'm new to the area. I had a mandarin salad that was delicious. There were big chunks of blue cheese, which I love. The salad was very fresh. The service was very friendly and attentive. While I didn't order it, they do have a lunch special: 2 slices and drink for $5. One of the others at the table ordered it and the slices were huge. You get one topping included in that price, if you want more it is of course extra. Also ordered at the table was a jerk chicken sammy. The sammy looked delish and my co-worker raved about it. It made a very quick and tasty lunch and I'd definitely go back here again. read more

Used to love it here. The past few times we've gone we've noticed: 1. It feels like a Chuckie Cheese! Tons and tons of kids. What the heck are they doing to attract them? Not a fan of places that are full of kids. Ick. 2. They changed the pizza somehow and it just is not as good. 3. The new prices are outrageous. 25 bucks for a 16" pizza? Mellow Mushroom. I love pizza! But not this one. My family and I visit the rest Tuesday evening. Was crowd as usual I must say, every night the parking lot is full. The theme is not my favorite it, is dyes colors everywhere and a huge mushroom in the middle of the dining area, an arcade area and bar. The atmosphere was good, families, couples, coworkers! The food.... Aww didn't like it. We order two pizzas one plain cheese for the kids and the other with chicken! Excessive amount of cheese and greasy, the chicken was plain no seasoning or flavor and the crust bland. The server was very nice and answers my questions, the pizzas arrive in good time and hot. Walked in and felt like I fell down the rabbit hole! Kept looking for a caterpillar with a hookah at the top of the humongous mushroom in the center of the restaurant! Could only find a friendly staff with speedy service! Was impressed with the selection of IPA beer and the bar tender Ryan also, she was funny and attentive! Mellow Mushroom just opened 3/30/09 in WF. The restaurant is located beside Taco Bell and a car wash right off 1-A. We visited 3/31 for dinner. They had a 45 minute wait for a party of two. People in WF were excited for some pizza! The hostesses had the wait under control and were quoting customers accurate wait times for their tables. Once seated the waitress quickly came over to offer drinks and appetizers. The drinks were promptly filled when running low. We ordered a salad to share and a large pizza. The salad was listed on the menu as being tossed in the dressing, but it was not. All dressings seen coming out of the kitchen were served on the side. Not sure why there was a change. Pizzas were served hot and fresh. The crust at Mellow Mushroom is full of flavor and leaves you with no "pizza bones"! The toppings were fresh and the pizza was covered in them. We enjoyed all of our food and the experience, but hope the wait for a table on a Tuesday night grows shorter after it has been open a while. read more

Updating :--- Food is ok , it's just hit or miss. Some times it's good some times it's what are they doing. But by far the worst part about this place is service. Food is average to above average , but service is always lacking. Ether you get no service or ignored. It's really sad when the manager walks around and talks to coworkers rather than help customers. I'm not sure why people would ever bother with this place, the food is horrible. Service wasn't so great either. The hoagie I had was one of the most tasteless monstrosities I've ever had. Cardboard would have been comparably better. I'm not sure how you manage to make beef and veggies so tasteless. Terrible! We came in at 3pm yesterdat... a Sunday afternoon. We counted 3 other customers in the whole restaurant. After waiting over 5 mins at the door without being greeted, I found someone to ask if we could sit at the bar. One seated at the bar. We watched to staff at the end of the bar chatting and laughing. We waited ten mins without anyone coming up to take a drink order. Needless to say, we left. Additionally, the kitchen staff had their masks hanging off their face and the restroom was dirty. Pizza is delicious and service friendly, but overall poor service. Our server had her mask on her chin, no attempt whatsoever to wear it properly. Another server had her mask over mouth but not nose. Met up with a good friend of mine here since I was in her neighborhood, we will catch dinner right here since both of us are big fan of Mellow Mushroom. This seem like the right choice. It seems that Monday night is a slow night for this location, because i got here around 7 PM and still barely any tables filled. Since I still have a few minutes to wait, I opted for a table close to the bar; shortly after I get my beer. BTW, despite what the bartender said, Foothills Hopyum IS NOT SEASONAL! Minus one point for you Mr. Bartender! We started out with hummus and garlic bread. I thought that hummus was a bit bland, and garlic bread pretty greasy. The Hawaiian pizza, however was pretty kick butt. We didn't even have to wait for the beer to refill before we quickly devoured the dough pie. Final thoughts: the food was A-okay, but the service was pretty good. The bartender had to double as server, but the delivery was not slowed; every time we looked up at the bar with a inquisitive look, he always came around bringing refills. 4 star is on the generous side, but I think it's a fair rating. read more

Great salads with homemade dressing, I love their pizza crust and unique pizza's. The pretzel appetizers are super yummy! Nice selection of local beers and custom cocktails. We went to Mellow Mushroom recently to dine and our Steak and Cheese Sub was simply roasted, the meat and onions were scorched. The Pizza was tasty but overpriced and the service average, slow on the drink refill service. Whoever was on the grill needs a new position doing something else, ruined the meal! read more

Can't recommend this place anymore. Used to be a go to - but over the last few months, service at lunchtime has been awful. They can't get you in and out in 45 minutes for the lunch crowd. Have gone a few times over last few months hoping they would work things out, but they haven't. We're talking salads, wings.... they can't get it served in under an hour. For those of us that have an hour lunch break, it's just not doable. If they can't serve a salad in less than an hour, really they shouldn't be open... or at least warn customers when they enter that service time will be over an hour. Staff is always nice, but unfortunately, we can't go here anymore. On going management responses about staffing issues etc. are really beyond acceptability at this point, if you can't service customers, you just shouldn't be open for lunch and maybe just concentrate on the dinner crowd. read more

Wanted something simple and good. Experienced that here. Went in on a Sunday night, place wasn't busy, probably because it was a rainy crappy night. Service was very quick and food was tasty. Even though the place was on the dead side, server that helped us was pretty upbeat. The only downside to this place was actually getting to it. If you're coming from Capital Blvd then it pretty straight forward, coming from Wake Forest can be a little more challenging but attainable. Worth going here for sure. read more

The food is always good from Mellow Mushroom, but I have never put their customer service to such a test! We ordered via Door Dash and the delivery was 1 item short. I immediately called the restaurant and the worker who answered the phone recognized that she made a mistake and put our item in with another persons order. She apologized profusely, but didn't know how to fix it, so she pulled her manager in and explained the situation so that she could take care of the situation. The manager, Colleen Allen, realized that we needed the food more than the refund and had another item made and personally delivered the item along with another small pizza to help with the situation. It is refreshing to see both workers and managers embrace their mistakes and deal with them head on with such great customer service. I have always loved Mellow Mushroom, but now I have even more reason to support this local business. Thank you Colleen for your great management skills, your staff is picking up on your great work ethic and it shows!!!! read more

Great food with amazing selections. Took in the whole family witch includes three kids "11 month 3yr old and 9yr old". Alway nervous to take the pack in due to no one likes that kid that won't pipe down or control there inner pterodactyl in public. Staff was great! Our waitress "Jessica" was quick to get our order in and get drinks flowing and also she was great entertainment for the kids. My wife and I had a great experience. Just had a great lunch experience here! All we wanted to do today relax and have drinks and food on a patio, and we got exactly that! WF area is lacking restaurants with patios so we're happy we made the choice to go to mellow mushroom. We were thrilled with their Bloody Mary and Mimosa Sunday specials too! I have eaten at MM the past two days. Once for lunch and one for dinner. The food was absolutely great. Although there were not a lot of patrons there, the server(s) were both attentive and friendly.
