Blueberry lavender oat milk latte 9/10 Dirty chai latte 3/10 Atmosphere and service 10/10 This new cafe that brings California vibes (as someone from CA, can confirm!). The atmosphere is very welcoming and nice with a small study corner. Most of the seating are lounge chairs with coffee tables to give the "networking" vibes which is different from other cafes in the area. The owners and other employees are so kind, eager to answer any questions, and are very passionate about their business. The wife is often working with the baristas and the husband mingles with the customers and ensures satisfaction. I got the blueberry lavender oat milk latte which is a secret menu item from their Instagram. Honestly, one of the best lavender lattes I've had. The aroma and taste of both blueberry and lavender are very strong, the latte is not overly sweat, and the oat milk adds another layer of depth with the creaminess. Dirty chai latte was not my favorite, it was very different from chai lattes I had before but the owner was so concerned with my satisfaction she remade my chai latte from a new batch. I don't know why I always feel like I need coffee when I go out into the world, but I do. It may not be the best habit but I love that it's allowed me to experience so many local coffee shops. Recently I stumbled upon Melrose while in the area. I wish I would have taken more photos because it was one of the most esthetically pleasing coffee shops I've ever been in. I went with the vanilla rose latte (with oatmilk of course) which was suggested by one of their employees who was more than happy to talk through their offerings. She even let me know there was a flower wall that's great for selfies hidden down a hallway. I wasn't quite selfie ready today but I still had to take advantage. read more

I have been to Melrose a couple times. The first time I ordered the rose latte, it was a neutral feeling, the take away was good, and they didn't make it sweet or tasted too artificial. I tried their coffee again last week, this time I tried their secret menu - the chocolate covered strawberry latte was spot on, I went with their standard recipe, I didn't ask them to change anything, the chocolate covered strawberry flavor came in perfect balance of sweetness and bitternesses. What I loved the most is they never serve hot coffee that I can taste the burnt. The temperature is perfect for the immediate sip. And no sour taste in both visits. I am happy to hear that they will open more in triad area! Can't wait!! read more

I had the Blue Cat Latte which is a peaberry tea with steamed almond milk and SF vanilla syrup (as per my request). IT was amazing. This is a really cool Californian inspired coffee shop and they definitely have a consistent instagram worthy designed space. The service was amazing, as soon as I came in I was cheerfully greeted and asked if I've ever been there before. When I said this was my first time, the barista gladly went over the top three most popular drinks. She also made a recommendation based on what I told her my husband usually likes/orders from Starbucks. They had a case of pastries to choose from as well (another barista was able to identify the most popular ones and what was her favorite). Drink #1: Hot Rose Latte - great temperature and the flavor was interesting. The rose wasn't too overpowering. Overall it was a fun break from your traditional latte. Drink #2: Iced Ferrero Rocher Latte - this was pretty good. Nice and cold with bits of truffle in it. It wasn't too sweet and had a good amount of actual coffee flavor. Pastries: I ordered one cheese and one almond danish. Both were just ok, I wish they were a little fluffier instead of so flat and I wanted a little more filling in both. I also had my baby with me so it was hard to carry everything, a barista came up and asked if she could help me to my car! I'm telling you the service here is incredible. I just wish they had plates and mugs; I was going to eat in but when I saw it was all packed to go either way I just took it with me instead. read more

The espresso in our drinks were smooth, the customer service is A+, and the ambience is unlike anything in Winston. Staying in town and looking for a non-chain cafe at 8am on a Sunday is apparently not easy, but I'm glad I decided to make the short drive to Melrose Cafe! The owner is super friendly and explained that his Cubano Cafe Con Leche is brown sugar with cuban espresso (I guess stronger than normal espresso) and milk - not the sweetened condensed milk and espresso that I've had before. New favorite coffee shop! I've been twice. The first time I got the vanilla rose. The flavor was great and refreshing. It has actual roses in it. Like little petals. I'm odd about texture so I didn't like the little pieces of petal, but for someone who doesn't mind solids in their liquid it's a great option. My husband got a special drink that the coffee barista made up I believe it was Cinnamon Toast Crunch coffee. I tasted his and it blew my mind. So the second time I got his order instead. Their secret menu or whatever the baristas makes up for the day is what you should order 100%. Also I've never heard an employee at a coffee shop ask me how my drink was. He asked if it was sweet enough it too sweet and offered to change my coffee in anyway to make it more pleasurable. I also heard him say This to other customers as well. Talk about above and beyond. Let talk ambiance. The store is cute, def insta worthy. Lots of different couches and chairs, open floor plan, a private room with a tv, and an old entrance that's no longer used as an entrance with the walls and ceiling covered in flowers and greenery. (Also insta worthy) I really can't complain about Thai place, but if I had to ding it for anything. Melrose Cafe is bringing LA vibes to the 336, y'all. When I saw the photos of the interior at Melrose, I couldn't WAIT to order my latte and snap 1,000 pics. It is as adorable as it looks online! They have a great little "garden walk" complete with instagrammable foliage wall, hanging flowers, and a Hollywood mural. The barista, Nevin, chatted with us about the Cali inspiration for Melrose Cafe and how Greensboro will be getting a location soon as well! He showed us their executive room with TVs, which is perfect for a collaborative business meeting or school project. There's plenty of other seating too! I read some comments seeing an off menu blueberry latte that is a must try... it didn't disappoint. The rumors are true, it really does taste like a liquid blueberry muffin! I have been following these guys on social media for a while and finally made my way over to check out their cafe! The decor and furniture gives moody lounge and it's a pretty wide open space. I like how clear and visible their menus are. They have a great tea display where you can smell the different loose leaf teas before making a selection. Today, I got the honey peach blossom blooming tea ball and a chocolate brownie. You can brew the tea ball multiple times which is great for a serial tea drinker like myself. I got to chat with one of the owners and she was so nice! Turns out they're from LA and they also own the CBD shop next door if you're into that. One downfall I see is the location. They're just kind of in the middle of Stratford road out of the way. I could see a place like this doing well closer to downtown or in West End. Tried dalgona coffee for the first time here (they have a special one from their secret menu), and it was the best drink i've ever had- I get it weekly now. This cafe is so incredibly adorable! Not only is it adorable but the owners are so welcoming and absolutely amazing. You can tell they take so much pride in their business. They were so helpful with the menu and had an amazing knowledge about tea. I ordered the salted toffee late and hung for an hour! During that time they checked on us and made us feel at home. I went to Melrose for the first time a few days ago. As a student unmotivated to study at home, I love finding interesting coffee shops where I can break up my day. In Winston, it's hard to find new places where I want to study, but Melrose might be that new place! They have a cool, sleek aesthetic, and they have plenty of drinks to choose from. My first time, I got a lavender rose matcha and it was great: drink tasted great, looked beautiful, and gave me energy for the rest of the day. I'll be excited to go back and try more of their drinks another time. I'll definitely look forward to visiting again soon. read more

I visited for the first time after finding their adorable shop on Instagram. I absolutely love the decor and the aesthetic. The staff is extremely welcoming and explain the menu in such detail.
