Country Inn French Toast

Driven by here a bazillion times. Finally stopped and came in. Clean, bright lights and smells of food. There are two menus, one for specials, the other for the mains. I chose the country inn French toast, has to be at least an inch and half thick! Home fries and a slice of ham. Waitress was quick on the scene to take our orders. Coffee refills quite regularly. Food was hot and fresh. Well worth the stop. Hoping to come back.

Loving the new makeover. Updated front area, dining room and bar. New counters, Nic bright new paint job, looks great and updated! Been coming here for years, mostly takeout. Still in love with their grilled bagel. They've also improved on their homefries!

Solid diner food with nice service. Very fun ambiance. It's best to go when it's not too crowded but it's always a good time

Todays daily special was a skillet omelette I was hoping to see a skillet ‍ Came with an overflowing fruit cup - not shown

Mel's Commonwealth is a landmark with a long 60+ year history. Once originally a donut shop, today serving delicious breakfast and lunch. Co-owner brothers are usually visible greeting their customers on entry or table visit, just like their dad Mel did before he retired. This local eatery has a strong local support in and around the community. Many employees still work here for 20+ years. Diane was our server today. We started with a grilled blueberry muffin. Delicious!! These muffins are from the The Muffin Man- (look them up....yummy) My guest order a daily special - The skillet with a over flowing fruit cup. They said they enjoyed their meal. I ordered a meat lovers omelet -you have the choice of toast and home fries or three medium-size pancakes . My omelette was stuffed and my banana pancakes were excellent. (I shared ) This is a must visit, if you've never have been The consistency of the food and long retention of employees providing outstanding service is what keeps people coming back Enjoy ‼ We will be back

Average in just about every aspect imaginable. The one thing that stands out are their muffins which are way above average.

I've been here for both of my sisters' graduation brunches, and we always leave happy. It's become one of our favorite spots for a celebratory brunch. For drinks, I tried their new Vanilla Bean Matcha Latte with oat milk. It was a bit thicker than I expected--possibly because of the oat milk. I can definitely see some people loving that texture, but for me it was just okay. That said, it was still a good drink, and the hint of vanilla came through nicely without overpowering the matcha. For food, we ordered a variety of dishes for the table. 1. The chicken and waffles had so much flavor, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly--not too runny, but still soft, gooey, and delicious. The chicken was a little soggy, but it made up for it by being incredibly tender. 2. The blueberry pancake was fantastic. Their pancake portions are huge, so this time we only ordered one to share. It was delicious, though definitely on the heavier side. 3. The house burger was easily the standout dish of the meal and might be my favorite item on the menu. It's simple and classic, but packed with flavor. 4. The chicken burger, on the other hand, was disappointing. The chicken was quite dry, and I probably wouldn't order it again. I think something like pickled onions or another acidic topping could help bring some balance and moisture to the sandwich. 5. We also tried the omelet, which was very good, especially with the goat cheese. What really made the experience special was that the staff noticed we were celebrating a graduation and surprised us with complimentary donuts. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a lovely way to end the meal.

Overall the food tasted pretty healthy despite having pork belly and chorizo. The seasoning was definitely on the lighter side, where the french onion soup was tasting pretty close to an extremely light broth. Tried the cassoulet which I've heard of before but never seen on a menu. It was very hearty but also a but bland. Pulled pork and pork belly seemed to have zero salt. Duck leg confit also very bland. It was cooked well but just bland. The dishes with citrus were quite tasty. Beets and arugala salad very good, good quality goat cheese. Alligator chorizo grilled oysters surprisingly good. Never had alligator chorizo before but it was crispy and not fatty even though it resembled bacon visually. The oysters were small, even more small in comparison to the chorizo but it was a good bite. I would recommend skipping the clam chowder, french onion soup (not really caramelized onions to be honest), and the cassoulet unless you feel empowered to salt your own food. The clientele was definitely in the 60+ range. Nothing wrong with that obviously but tastes change with age and maybe thats why the seasoning was so light. Today there were just two wait staff for the whole place. Seemed understaffed and it took almost thirty minutes for food to come out. Waiting for the check took about fifteen minutes. Staff was nice but definitely overloaded. Today was a holiday though.

We had a reservation for a celebratory dinner, and I commented to ask if the special would still be on for that date. The chef/owner responded immediately that it would. Knowing specials often run out quickly, I called on the morning of the reservation, and a hostess said, yes, the special was still on. So we got there, we ordered, and we asked for the special -- the waitress said she'd confirm, and then came back and just said 'no, it was just for that day,' which was confusing. I explained that the chef and the hostess had confirmed that it was still on the menu and asked if it had run out -- again, understandable -- and she said it 'was just something we made for an influencer.' At that point, I didn't want to press the two 'no' answers, so we finished the dinner and moved on. I reached out privately after the fact as I wanted to see if there was a better way I could have communicated to the restaurant or asked for clarification, and asked if there was a better way to confirm information moving forward, and they never responded. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back.

I had to explain this to the waitress and to the owner. Not a place I would go to for a quiet romantic dinner. More like a college cafeteria atmosphere with alchohol. Food was OK. Rice was crunchy undercooked. Did not enjoy pulling chicken off skewers. Brought dish back to kitchen for staff to remove chicken off skewers. Where is the ambiance for removing chicken from skewers. Is this a new form of entertainment? New owners were too cheap to install proper ADA bathroom fixtures. Black toilet fixture from previous owner were too close to the floor. For compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the toilet seat must measure between 17 inches minimum and 19 inches maximum from the finished floor to the top of the seat, including the seat itself, not just the bowl rim. Server was nice but you could tell they were understaffed that night and sat too many tables at once. Once we sat done down and given water it took a while before our server appeared. The pacing was off and there were long periods between our order and apps, entree, and dessert. - bread service: kind of expensive ($13) for 5 pieces of bread and a dollop of each dipping sauce. Try just bread and butter for $6 - cornbread: delicious but small portion for $14. Also not a fan of the cutting board presentation - kids Mac and cheese: very cheesy ($12) - tiger shrimp risotto: ($34) good flavor but risotto was underdone - fried chicken: ($30) so crispy and cooked perfectly but had an odd spice in there like cinnamon? The star was the fried green tomatoes and the buttermilk ranch! Perfectly fried and crunchy while the tomatoes stayed firm and a very tasty ranch dressing! - dessert: warm cow sugar cookies were nice and warm sitting in butterscotch pudding, very cute! - the toffee in the butterscotch pudding ($11) was super crunchy, wish there were more cubes mixed in - warm chocolate brownie ($15) was missing the creme anglaise? Or the splatter of it was very small? I liked the open kitchen, high ceilings and farm2table concept but be prepared to spend $$$. Some street parking available and metered lot across the street.

We had a 5pm reservation, which was perfectly quiet and relaxed, though by 6:30-7pm the place was packed. If you're walking in, definitely aim for the early side. Service was excellent from start to finish -- the host, our server, and every staff member we encountered were attentive and professional. The steak and seafood selection is diverse and well-rounded, with plenty of side options to choose from. One honest note: the sides were a bit underwhelming on the flavor front compared to the rest of the meal, which is worth knowing going in. The appetizers, however, were a highlight -- and the french onion soup deserves a special shout-out. The drink program is solid with a strong wine list, and a nice bonus for non-drinkers: they offer a mocktail menu that was genuinely tasty, not an afterthought. Pricing is what you'd expect for an upscale steakhouse, so come prepared -- but if you're looking for a classic, polished steakhouse experience in the MetroWest area, Coach Grill is worth the visit.
