Tip: Be hungry. Popped in for a weekday breakfast and saw the whole bar/counter area loaded with regulars finishing their coffee. So it's got to be good. I opted for the day's "Benedict" special, which turned out to be two fried eggs, two big slices of ham, a sliced tomato on a croissant, with hollandaise sauce poured over the top. It's a good thing that she brought me the steak knife, because I needed it. Yum. And spicy home fries, which were topped with cracked red pepper. Not really "hot" but they were tasty. A lot of food. Today I decided that I would finally take the kids out for some brunch seeing that we've been staying in since the pandemic started. We drove to IHop in Framingham and the wait time was extensive - so I decided, why not try a local business. I arrived with my kids (2 and 5) and at this point they were already super hungry - Bonnie was our server and she was very pleasant and interacted with the kids. We finished eating and after placing my card down to pay the server stated it was cash only and there was an ATM at the entrance - I said alright. Awesome. We finished eating and as I walked up- I gave $5 cash to the older lady at the register and let her know it was a tip for Bonnie and I would be using the ATM to get $20. The bill was $17 and a few cents. During my first try using the ATM with my citizens bank card, my card was locked and was told to contact my financial institution- Given that I already had fraud occur with third party ATMs, it was not uncommon for this to occur. At this point - I called my roommate and asked her to bring me $20 as I live down the street- and by the time the bank answers the phone I would be waiting for a bit. After I hung up with her I started calling the bank - I let the older lady at the register know I was calling the bank because the ATM locked by card and I got a fraud alert. She said "I don't know what that means." During my wait - a nice lady named "Linda" offered to pay for my bill. Before I said anything, the old lady at the register said "no Linda. Leave it. She can't pay for her food." At this point my blood was boiling. She doesn't know who I am and that is an absolutely poor attitude and assumption to make. Linda insisted and eventually paid for my food. I told her thank you, but she didn't need to do that as I am very capable of paying for myself and my kids. The older lady at the register kept scoffing and making side comments to the other people behind the register which infuriated me even more. While I was still on hold with my bank, my roommate came to the rescue and handed me $20. I went back to the counter and handed it to the older lady as I'm still on hold with the bank and told her to give Linda her $20 bill back, and then proceeded to explain to her what FRAUD is and how ATMs function. Explained to her that I worked for a bank and this was very common. She seemed confused still - and said she didn't know that could happen and was still giving off a very standoff-ish attitude. This was absolutely the most unpleasant experience I have ever had in a diner. This was my first and LAST time going to this place. I have lived in Marlborough for over 20 years and never have experienced customer service to this level in this town. I am shocked and extremely upset that a place like this, surviving by a cash only business, gives this poor experience. I will NEVER return to this place and will make sure none of my friends and family do. If someone else who actually couldn't pay for their food was in this situation- I can't even imagine how they would feel. I am a manager and work with clients every single day, and this is the WORST experience ever. The lack of empathy was eye opening, that's for sure. read more

I had such high hopes for this place. I had read a yelp review about their eggs benny and their menu has a buttload of benny options, but sadly, the hollandaise is not real hollandaise sauce, it tasted like GRAVY!!! soooo wrong! I didn't even order the benny, I ordered a side of the sauce and I'm sooo glad I did because I would have been so angry. Although, the breakfast I did end up ordering was a big disappointment anyways. The western omelette had too much ham in it, I know what you're thinking, how could you ever have too much ham? but seriously, it was a disgusting amount and it was overwhelming. The onions were watery, so when mixed with the humongous amounts of ham, it made this watery/greasy, ugly brown mixture in the omelette that was also lacking cheese I had ordered. The potatoes looked good, but weren't that great and I suspect they were old. Husby liked his bacon omelette and he got the spicy potatoes which he also liked, but my meal was so bad, I don't think I can bring myself to go back there again. How does this place only have 3 out of 5 stars?? The atmosphere is very quaint and has the small town vibe. They will prepare your food however you want it. I ordered the Robert's omellette with some ingredients left out and extra sauce. It came out perfect. I highly recommend the spicy home fries and you can totally get your english muffin grilled. I just came back from ordering take out from this place and the waitresses taking my order assisted me very poorly and made me very uncomfortable in front of all the customers since she was giving me dry answers and speaking very loud while all the customers were sitting on the front counter. I would say I am a regular customer. I always bring my mom to eat with me and we were never treated like that before. This was the first time I went by myself. I am not sure why i got this treatment. I always make sure to treat waitresses and food workers very well since I understand how tiring the job is. I am guessing one of the waitresses was not fond of my nose piercings and tattoos, so she decided to treat me like shit the whole time. I believe she is one of the oldest waitress that works there. Whenever you walk in, you can tell most of the people in there are regulars; that's when you know a place is good. They've got an extensive menu with most anything you could want for breakfast, and the décor offers all you really need - clean tables, chairs and a counter. Nothing fancy. I ordered the original eggs benedict, and my eggs were poached to perfection. It came with a side of homefries which are offered in spicy or regular - I ordered it regular, and it was pretty good. The homefries were of the soft, non-crispy variety. I had to try the bluecake (blueberry pancake) so I ordered it as another side, and it was delicious! Service was so-so. When our server brought out our food, she just announced the dish and dumped it on a spot on the table closest to her regardless of who ordered it. A little more attention to detail would be nice.
