Got there about 830 and it wasn't crowded but by the time we left at 915 it was filling up. The wait staff was kind and quick and the food was good. I had eggs Benedict and my boyfriend had country fried steak. Portions were more than enough. The home fries were delicious! read more

Good, fast service, with nice staff. Not expensive. Food was adequate at best. My hash browns were funky greasy, and the sausage gravy on my country fried steak had cut up chunks of bland sausage patty in it, not crumbles from the actual cooking of the sausage. The country fried steak itself was probably Cisco low grade frozen meat product. Fried eggs were fine. My guy's pecan pancakes were dry and had very few pecans. His bacon looked over cooked. Coffee was watery. Possibly "Mel" himself was alternating between the kitchen and poking around an HVAC duct. read more

Best kept secret in Daytona. My husband and I always end up here because no other place compares. I love the breakfast sandwiches. I get an everything bagel, over medium egg, your choice of cheese, and bacon, and boy it is amazing! Very loud, very hot. Food was just okay, we were looking for best biscuits and gravy and this popped up. It was not the best.

On the way through town we received a recommendation to go to Mel's Diner and we're glad we did! Mel's is a small home style cafe with excellent service and even more excellent food. I had the quiche and fruit. The quiche had perfect consistency and a tasty crust. The fruit was fresh and included bananas, strawberries, blueberries, peaches and orange slices. Our group also had the french toast casserole which is definitely a must have. We will definitely go back to Mel's when we are in town!! read more

Absolute BEST diner in town without a doubt. Staff and food is amazing. Pancakes are huge and delicious. Have tried many of the specialty items on their menu, including hash brown casserole and French toast casserole. All have been awesome! Prices are great and the service is fast and very friendly. We thought we would try Mel's Diner for brunch today, around 11:00 on Sat. The place was full, which generally is an indication that it is popular and has good food. They seemed to have enough waitresses and from what I could see they had 3 cooks in the kitchen. We placed our order immediately after we got our beverages and then the wait began. We waited and waited and finally after about 45 min. our waitress came and said there was a mix up on our order but she said she told the cooks to get ours done. There were 2 young girls that were seated before we were and they were still waiting too, but people that came in way after we did were getting their food already. After an hour we finally got our food. Ten min. after we got our food the 2 young girls got their omelettes. I wish I could say the wait was worth it but my Mel's breakfast special wasn't so special and my better half' s eggs Benedict were just ok. One of the Owners came up and apologized and said they had 30 tickets to fill, but our comment was why did people get their food before ours, who came in after us? We had read the reviews on Yelp so we were ready to try it out. We won' t be back. It was a big flop as far as we are concerned and we won't recommend it to others to try. read more
