One of the OG Memphis style BBQ places in town. There used to also be a location at Broadway, but that one got torn down. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as metered spots on Commercial. The place has that rustic country look, with wood panelling and brick walls. Pretty cool Memphis murals on the side wall as wel. Staff are friendly. Tried the Elvis platter. Plenty of food for 4 people. Sides include beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. Meat includes brisket, BQ chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and sausage, with fries and corn bread. Just drown everything in BBQ sauce and go. Try not to think about the calories. Overall everything was quite tasty. Chicken and brisket were a bit dry, but other than that, no real complaints. Definitely worth checking out if one wants to load up on meat.

There aren't too many southern barbeque restaurants in Vancouver, and I'm glad we found this one! I'm glad we made a reso because it was popping on a Thursday night. We got the platter for 4-6 people and we had so much leftovers! They had a variety of meats but my favourite was the brisket and pulled pork. Other meats were slightly too dry for me. The lovely thing about sharing this platter is that since there's so many different meats, each person is bound to like 1-2 types of meat... so not meat were left behind in this case lol. Actually, I take that back. Their coleslaw was delicious!! Probably my favourite thing at night. They have beer on tap, and a variety of cocktails as well. Our server was also the absolute sweetest guy. If you want a casual night out or place to hang after work, this bar vibey, Tennessee bbq resto is the place for you!!

Went here for our son's birthday as he wanted rib fest quality ribs and brisket. The meat did not disappoint, neither did the potato salad, beans, coleslaw and fries that cake as part of the platter. Also ordered the cauliflower wings and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was a table favourite! The corn bread was oaky, but needed to be served with the butter and needed a little more flavour. The service was great! Only other downside was it was super hot inside with no air flow or fans given the heat of the late afternoon. Would definitely return though on a not so hot day.

Memphis Blues is a staple in Vancouver for Southern BBQ. It's a casual spot that serves slow smoked meats, southern seafood, and drinks. I most recently visited with 4 guys and we shared the Elvis platter. It comes with "all the meats" which are beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs, rib ends, BBQ chicken, and sausage. It also has the sides: fries, cornbread, potato salad, BBQ pit beans, and coleslaw. The only thing it's missing is seafood - the next bigger Priscilla platter adds calamari, shrimp, and catfish. My favourite here is the beef brisket. It's tender with a bit of crunch on the outside. It pairs especially well with their house blend BBQ sauce, in a sandwich or on its own. They have $5 pints of Russell pilsner, all day every day. That's a 20oz full pint. Or pitchers are $15. Amazing!

I like BBQ. Memphis Blue is ok. I have had better BBQ. I came with B and we ordered 1/2 lb brisket and the sandwich of the day to share. The sandwich (pull pork with mustard on top) was tasty. It came with seasoned fries. The brisket was tender but it was slightly dry. Service was great. Overall, it was not bad I would say Memphis is an average BBQ place. There are better ones out there Smoke and Bones and Devil's Elbow etc.

My expectations for Memphis Blues is not high. If it wasn't my buddy's treat I would have insisted else where. Being a nice pleasant day I decided to leave my high maintenance black German Bat Mobile (Audi from Boundary Audi) at home and take the public transit. Which turns out to be a good decision. Along the way from the Commercial Station to Memphis, a plethora of home grown eateries and cafes sprung across my path. Noted for future visit. Arriving at Memphis, it reminds me a bit like a Subway food chain with a cartoony map of Memphis and decorated with some tacky memorabilia of the southern town. We know this did not come from Memphis or are we in Memphis. This franchise is a brainchild of locals. Not very authentic feeling. But let's just pretend for a moment we are in Memphis. Since it was on my friend's tab, I did not want to order the 2 meat combo for 25$, I would rather just have the 1 meat meal for 20$ or less, thought the waitress may be accommodating to allow me to have two meats of 5 oz each. Noooope. She insisted I must have the 2 meat combo which had 12 oz of meat where the 1 meat had 10 oz. I don't know about how good your math is. 20$/10oz=2$/oz. but 25$/12oz=2.08$/oz. What she suggested was not a deal. Nor I necessarily wanted to have more food. I simply wanted to see how good their bbq's are. Even a bite would have been suffice. That was that, the Nazi waitress was not flexible nor an astute mathematician. Moot point. I ended up ordering the brisket meal and my friend ordered rib meal. Let's just say when the food came I was not exactly surprised. Both the brisket and ribs were on the plenty of dry side. Though the food came out rather too quick as if all they had to do was to carve the meat. Despite asking for the fattiest piece possible, 7/8 of brisket was dry and gamey. Gave the old gums a workout. Nothing served was hot, as if they were all sitting under some sort of heat lamp. On the slight plus side, they give you a choice of fries, or potatoe salad. Coleslaw was meh. The chilies were lukewarm. The bbq dipping sauce tasted like cherry cough syrup. The brisket was so dry, had no choice but to dip in the cough syrup to aid swallowing. Yeah no....not good. Cannot really recommend this place at this price point. Try the new eateries on the Drive instead. Better yet open a BBQ joint in town, there is virtually no competition.

Grewt service and food were good. Would recommend the lemonade very refressing. Food came out fast and hot. Everything was good.

Reenact the last couple years of Elvis Presley's life by stuffing your face full of BBQ at Memphis Blues until you fall into a meat coma. A cool establishment in the heart of Commercial Drive's dining district, Memphis Blues has no real, nearby, direct competition. They serve Tennessee-style BBQ in a venue filled with Memphis-themed decorations. Prices are a bit high, but par for the course. Side dishes like coleslaw, potato salad, fries and beans do a good job filling you up if the meat doesn't. I'd suggest getting the Memphis platter as it gives you a sampling of all the different meats available. For larger parties, step up to the Elvis platter or even bigger Priscilla platter. Worth noting is their BBQ sauce which has hints of plum/cherries. Their potato salad and collard greens are also very good. Their fries were amazingly crispy and well seasoned. Brisket, ribs and pulled pork were all tasty and give you a variety of textures to enjoy. Service was good, and the ambiance was cheerful. Some desserts are available and a full bar is there for your alcohol needs.

First time trying Memphis Blues! We got the smoked sausage as an appetizer, the beef brisket meal and the combo meal with 1/2 slab of ribs and pulled pork. Each meal comes with cornbread, coleslaw, BBQ pit beans and your choice of potato salad or fries. The beef brisket had a good mix of fatty and lean parts but I found some of the leans parts to be too dry. I also found the pulled pork to be on the dry side and it definitely needed the help of the BBQ sauce. The ribs were okay not the most moist or tender ones I've ever had. The crispy fries with some sort of Cajun seasoning? were addictive and the portion was generous. The BBQ sauce just tasted a bit too smokey for me and it made the BBQ pit beans taste really weird. The other sides were fine for me. Sausage was pretty standard too. It was alright but I think I've had better BBQ.

Lots and lots and lots of delicious, hardy meat! Couldn't be more in love with this place - great vibe with helpful staff who are always checking in with you. The space is a bit packed but contributes to the unique and hip vibe of the place. Definitely try their platter - enough to feed 3 people at least and contains all the stuff you would want. Their cornbread is easily one of the best parts of the meal. Make sure to ask for refills on the sauce if you run out! Washrooms are quite well maintained and there's some parking up and down the main street, and a bunch of street parking around if you don't mind walking a bit.

One of my best friends was having her birthday party here and I was utterly confused that I'd never heard of this place, so much so, that I questioned her if it was the right spot..... I now admit, that I was in the wrong. The Shebeen is located through a little alley way behind the Irish Heather. You have to go through the actual restaurant to find it, so no wonder it's hard to find! It gave me total speakeasy feels. Our large group took over their little patio area pretty early on around 5:30pm and set up camp there until 10:30ish. It was fairly slow at the beginning, but as the night went on, the inside of the Shebeen filled up and this spot was bumpin'. They specialize in whiskys (hence their name), so I was ordering old fashioneds left and right. I did also have a gin and tonic or two at the beginning of the evening. The old fashioneds were some of my favourite I've had in Vancouver. You can also order food through the Irish Heather menu. After a few drinks, I needed to put some food in my body so I ordered the curry fries. Wow, wow, wow. I was in saucy fry heaven. I need more of this in my life. Honestly, I'd come back just for this. Our servers (we had two checking in on us throughout the evening), were ROCKSTARS! Before I even had finished my drink, they were already checking in and asking if we wanted another... this resulted me in never having an empty drink, which I definitely felt the next day. Now that this spot is on my radar, I'll be back more often. Thanks for a great evening and here's to many more, Shebeen!

Wooden tables and chairs. Servers with genuine Irish accents. It felt like the real deal. " A HIDDEN GEM BURSTING WITH FLAVORS"…read more From the moment we walked in the SMELLS were enchanting songs to our nostrils. We were immediately greeted by staff and sat at a table to view the menu. Now let's be honest. We were tourist just leaving a cruise ship and looking for some good homecooked southern food. Although we reside in Texas, we are originally from New Orleans, La and my boyfriend is a CHEF. I am the foodie and he is the professional chef so restaurants don't stand a chance with our taste buds. Majid (OWNER) & Hamed are absolutely amazing. We were greeted and provided the warmest welcome with descriptions of the menu in detail. Being from the SOUTH were expecting that they were not aware of our cuisine. I was all the way wrong. 1st CHOICE - the Whole Slab of pork ribs tender and falling off of the bone, The flavor was absolutely amazing. It taste as great as MEMPHIS and TEXAS barbecue. I was impressed with the flavor and burst of seasonings that reminded me of a grill and smoked meat. There were 6 pieces with half of slab and 12 pieces with a whole slab. We literally could not even eat all of it. The plate also contained 4 ounces of barbecue sauce, 4oz of barbecue baked beans, 4 oz. of Cole slaw, full serving of coleslaw and a slice of cornbread ( I prefer homemade, hot and buttery flavor on top with serving). The beans were okay but I have had better. The barbecue sauce was not the best to me as well but the food was so good I was not bothered by it. 2nd CHOICE was slices of Moist brisket with charred ends that were so exhilarating it taste like it come straight from the smoker to my table. Every piece of meat was fresh as if they just cooked it for us. The same sides as above came with this plate also except we choose FRESH CAJUN FRIES in addition. They were flavorful and fresh. So we had two servings of each where as we did not need to share the sides. 3rd CHOICE, - Now I must admit, I was in between the macaroni and cheese and the jambalaya. Hamed was very informative in describing it in detail and convincing as it is one of the best sellers. The menu described it as SAUSAGE, SHRIMP AND PULLED CHICKEN, SERVED WITH GREENS AND CORNBREAD. Once it arrived to the table it had a very strange white sauce poured over the rice. This is not described on the menu and it is not a traditional sauce for jambalaya. MY ADVICE INFORM PATRONS OF THIS ADDITION TO THE DISH BECAUSE THIS IS NOT AN INGREDIENT IN CAJUN JAMBALAYA DOWN SOUTH or PLACE ON MENU IN DESCRIPTION. Also the menu describes as greens on plate, and greens is listed on the menu but once asked we were told this is green salad not collard greens. It literally was a small portion of lettuce with no dressing so this needs to be addressed as well. OVERALL , I STILL GAVE A FIVE STAR REVIEW BECAUSE THE FOOD WAS ON POINT FOR BEING LOCATED IN THIS VANCOUVER CANADA. WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED AND I HAVE TO ADMIT MAJID (OWNER) CAN WIN A COUPLE OF COOKOFFS THAT FOOD WAS DELICIOUS I ALSO NEED TO ADD THE HOSPITALITY AND KINDNESS OF MAJID. I watched him walk to each table and ask how was the food and greet all of the guest. He provided us with a souvenir to remember our visit. I almost want to fly out again to eat there and fly back home. TWO DRINKS COST - $98.50 American Dollars VS $135.60 CANADIAN DOLLARS
