Let me just say, I'm a big fan of Frost It!…read more My hubby & I started coming here for their amazing cupcakes when they opened. Quickly, we became regulars. I can't even name all the flavors that we fell in love with, but red velvet, lemon, strawberry, salted caramel & chocolate peanut butter just to name a few. We were sad when we found out that they were transitioning from a cupcake store to a by-appointment cake shop, but I understood why. My husband & I vowed that when we got married, we would use them as our wedding cake baker. So, when we decided in July 2015 that we were getting married, we set out to make an appointment in a few months. Our appointment was scheduled for June 2016. Our friends who were visiting us, one of them was a bridesmaid, came with us for our cake tasting. My bridesmaid also paid for our wedding cake as a gift! I was blown away at such an extravagant gift ($800+)!!! We ordered for a 3 tiered ombré cake based on our wedding colors... sapphire, emerald & turquoise. The cake was supposed to be sapphire on the bottom tier & slowly transition to emerald & transition to turquoise. The flavors we picked were lemon, white velvet & chocolate. The cake was beautiful, but not quite the ombré cake I was expecting. There wasn't a seamless transition in color, which is what ombré cakes are known for. The flavors were right, but were not on the their assigned tiers. I didn't bother to complain as we were already on our honeymoon when we realized that our cake contract didn't match the cake we actually got. The cake was beautiful & delicious, so I didn't care at that point. Unfortunately, many guests didn't get the chance to even try out me cake as the cake cutting didn't happen until much later in the night & it started to get very cold. The venue saved most of our cake & we took part of it to eat with our of town family leaving the next day. They all commented that it had been one of the best cakes they've tried. So, nonetheless, I was still happy with the cake, even with the mistakes & that is my reason for 4 stars & not 5. Check out their Instagram page, you will get a much better idea of the kind of cake artistry they are capable of. Beware, you'll get hungry looking!

They used all of our reference photos and delivered the exact cake we expected. Not to mention how delicious and moist the flavors were! We went with a 3-tier cake for our fall wedding and decided on the white velvet with raspberry and white velvet with blackberry with salted caramel buttercream and then pumpkin spice with cream cheese buttercream and caramel drizzle on top. They really stood above their competition, we were so happy we found them!

Had them for the first time on my birthday, though definitely on the pricy side…read more But they're so beautiful! Accidentally held one cupcake sideways just as I opened the door home, so the frosting got smushed but obviously didn't affect the flavor. I think this review will be heavily biased by user error thus the 5 stars though my feelings are more on 3 stars. Since we were all busy, we'd have to eat them around 10+ hours after buying and to make sure nobody accidentally ate them before my birthday; we stored them in the fridge instead of room temp which clearly did something to the frosting and cakes. Family's average favorites in order are red velvet, the confetti, cookies and cream, smores, and strawberry. The red velvet is pretty good, it's pretty rich and moist compared to the other cupcakes and the cream cheese frosting is so nice. S'mores has a strong dark cocoa flavor but also was dense and a little dry. Strawberry and confetti had nice fluffy frosting but due to the fridge mistake, it was kinda like eating chilled whipped butter. I strangely really enjoyed that. Confetti also felt and tasted like corn bread; I wasn't there to choose or see the flavors, but it was a fascinating surprise when I kept chewing and felt grit between my teeth. I didn't expect the birthday cupcake to taste like a southern take on fairy bread? But it isn't bad! Overall, I feel like they're a nice place for a little treat--the red velvet is definitely their signature for a reason. But for ~$7-10 a cupcake the flavors we chose seem to lack a reason to come back :( Unless you have dietary restrictions! I didn't try them but they have keto, vegan, and gluten free options; I know how hard it is to find a bakery that honors all 3. I also got my cupcake in one of those adorable birthday boxes (bearer of the unfortunate frosting carnage so no photo) but the butterfly is so cute! They're definitely worth a visit once, the bread puddings looked fun too, but unfortunately it seems the cupcakes are just not my cup of tea.

I really hate to do this but our experience was really disappointing…read more I was looking around for local bake shops & bakers, other than the popular Bundt or Arleens, because we wanted something special for my friends birthday. I found Cake and Love, saw the reviews and thought "why not?" I love supporting local small businesses. I knew the designs weren't up to par compared to other places, however I read that the cakes tasted really good. My friend Marc ordered them and requested 4 cupcakes but the owner said she could only do a dozen. The design requested for the cupcakes was to write the name on 4 and the rest with birthday + Halloween designs. And he ordered four different flavors. She had a week to prepare and offered to drop them off. Not only was she an hour late, but she practically rushed off without giving us a chance to look at the cupcakes to check them. You can only imagine our disappointment when we opened the box. It looked absolutely terrible, rushed and as if a child decorated these. These cupcakes were for an adult. The taste was just ok too. The chocolate cakes were mushy, the red velvet were dry and the other two were 'eh.' It was too late to find something else so we sucked it up and used them to sing happy birthday anyway. Regardless if there was any mis-communication, this is not acceptable. And I feel that we deserve a refund.

The space itself is chic and impossibly cute, a mini cafe that feels like a hidden boutique find, quaint in all the right ways. The croissants are the genuine article: buttery, flaky layers with that perfect golden exterior that only comes from someone who truly knows what they're doing. Every pastry here is crafted with care and it shows in every bite. And the mocha coffee? That alone is worth the trip. Rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced, it pairs beautifully with anything in the pastry case. The staff are warm and genuinely welcoming, making the whole experience feel personal rather than transactional. One thing to keep in mind: this is not a drive-through. It's a small owner-operated cafe where everything is made with intention. Come with time to spare, settle in, and let the experience unfold. Good things take time, and here that philosophy is baked right into everything they do. Yes, prices lean a bit higher than your average coffee shop, but this is quality you can taste. You're paying for authentic French technique that honors the tradition. La Princière is a Thousand Oaks treasure worth every unhurried minute.
