Dinner at 5:30 not busy at all maybe 4 tables/booths occupied. Food was good. 3 people ordered the Special of the day . The server returned to say they only had 2 dinners of the special available, but they would substitute the Lobster Ravioli for the special they didn't have enough of. Which one of our friend agreed. Dinner was good. The special was 19.99, when the check arrived the Lobster Ravoli was 26.99. Checked with the server about making a adjustments in the charge. After all it was our fault they weren't prepared to have enough, and it was only 5:30. I understand if the place was crowded and time wise later. The server said she would check. She did she said they would give a LITTLE discount, and they did 3.00 was the discount. They could have least given the dinner guest the price of the special . Like I said food was good, but I don't plan on going back there. Especially on a Friday they should plan better. Lesson learned. Check that you are being offered the substitute meal at the same price of the meal they don't have enough of. read more

I had chicken veneziano fabulous,my wife had chicken ala vodka unbelievable, veneziano was light and so tasty. Specially the White wine sauce, very tender chicken Pasta ala vodka was a huge portion and not a light fair,but so freakin good. I can cook a little and I've tried to make this vodka pasta on the lighter side,it just doesn't come out well.this dish in my onion needs some kick to stand out and macattos dose a fabulous job with it. Visited my go to restaurant, Mercato's III, again tonight, but I broke protocol. Usually I order either their chicken parmigiana, which is excellent, or one of their top of the heap pizza. Tonight destiny brought me face to face with a dish called Chicken Gorgonzola. This is three decent sized chicken breasts, pounded flat, covered with a sauce that blended the tastes of Gorgonzola cheese, Mercato's gravy, and red peppers. Oh my God, where have you been all my life? The experience was so profound that I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since arriving home. My only regret was that I couldn't lick the plate afterwards. The sauce was just that good!!! Please note there are other Mercato's restaurants in the Albany, which the family sold off, but still use the Mercato's brand name. I can only recommend that you visit the Latham store because they are the best Italian restaurant in Albany. read more

Located in Peter Harris Plaza . A bustling strip Mall we chose to eat here as we were in the mood for Italian food. We were not disappointed. Nicely decorated inside with white lights and decor, this place is large. Not too busy on a Friday night, we were seated at a nice corner table. We started with wine, beer and an order of fried calamari for the table. Crunchy, thick rings flash fried and a bowl of delicious marinara sauce for dipping. Very good. There were 4 of us tonight. I opted for chicken franchise which was off the menu but they made it anyhow for me and it was superb. I'd get that again. Ordered a side of capellini with olive oil and garlic. Also came with a tossed Salad. Their house dressing is a must. Other entrees we ordered were sausage and peppers with ziti, chicken piccata and a clam and bacon pizza. All very good. First time at this venue and we will definitely be back. Waitstaff very friendly and very efficient. Big menu to chose from and you won't leave hungry! read more

I've tried and tried and today was the last time I'll be ordering from them. My work is right around the corner and we often order pizza delivered for working lunches. I've ordered from them often but after today I'm going to find a new place. For starters, the lady answering the phone and taking orders borders on rude. She sounds completely annoyed every time I've ever called. When ordering delivery they never include plates and whatnot unless you ask and then often not even then. Today I ordered two pizzas, an order of wings (extra crispy) and a 2 liter bottle of soda. No plates, napkins, cups or forks. Any other place I've ordered take out or delivery from includes this stuff. And come on...we're a business. No one there is thinking "Hey, these folks probably need something to eat off of?" Laziness or cheapness? Either way, it's weak. The disgustingly soggy wings (yes, it almost felt like they did the opposite of what I asked) had leaked all over the inside of the bags and the delivery person must have been holding the pizzas sideways because the cheese had slid half off on both of them. I think the pizzas were a bit under cooked as well. All that said, the pizza isn't typically bad and sometimes when you order the wings "extra crispy" they actually come that way. But really, there are so many other pizza joints in the area, there's no reason for me not to look elsewhere. read more

Mercato's III is tucked shyly in the St. John Plaza off Rte 7 in Latham / Colonie. The interior is actually really nice for a strip mall restaurant. Its colors and accommodations are all really nice and somewhat upscale. The pizza in Latham in general leave a lot to be desired. However, Mercato's III is the exception. The pizza is really tasty with a nice crispy crust, semi sweet and tangy sauce, heavy hints of garlic, and a nice mozzarella top coating. The quality seems to vary wildly based on whomever is cooking that day. Sometimes its amazing and sometimes its under cooked and not so great. They should really work on standards for their food. The best thing on the menu are the garlic knots. They are amazing! Hot, crunchy but soft in the middle, oil infused, garlic wonder knots! They are delicious hot but get better when they are cold, like the next morning out of the fridge. The chicken parm dinner is just "meh," as well as, the wings, cold subs, and other dishes. I wouldn't eat here if you are trying to impress a date but if its pizza night then I would certainly get a pie from here (and knots!) read more

I ordered delivery from the Peter Harris Plaza. We had the 10 piece hot wings, a hot steak onion and pepper sub, and a cup of pasta fagioli. The delivery service wasn't too bad and the food was hot when it arrived. The wings come in mild, medium, and hot. We had ordered hot expecting spicy and they were not spicy at all, which was dissapointing. The soup was horrible. I may be biased due to having a mother who makes great pasta fagioli soup, but the soup was mainly beans and had horrible flavor, tasted mainly like salt. The sub was the only decent part of the meal. It was enjoyable, not great but was good. I was looking for a decent pizza and some buffalo wings. I just moved here and I've only had Pizza Hut, which was terrible. There were some good and bad reviews here for this place, but they seemed to point to a decent pizza. I am not impressed. The pizza was average at best. No really anything too bad with this, just average. I asked for medium hot wings, extra crispy. I got wings so hot, my son, who likes them hot, said they were too hot...and they weren't even closed to crispy, never mind extra crispy. I ordered the garlic knots on someone based on someone else's review, these were pretty good. My wife had a Greek salad, said it was ok, but the dressing was watery and there wasn't enough feta cheese on it. I'm giving 2 stars for average pizza and terrible wings. Oh, Mercato's! Why must you be so inconsistent? To begin, I was first introduced to Mercato's via an office luncheon. I remember having the pizza and instantly asking where the food came from. It was excellently flavored! Since then we've ordered from them many times and our whole office agrees that they make some of the BEST italian take out we've had..when they're on their game. I decided to try them on my own a few days later. The pizza was flavorless and the sauce had a milky white tinge to it. I was not impressed. The next time, I tried the fried mozzarella which was crispy, decadent and well seasoned breaded wedges (think two pieces of a grilled cheese sandwich cut diagonally) filled with cheese. It came with a huge thing of sauce which excited me because i LOVE marinara sauce. This became my new favorite...except 50% of the time they forget the included side of sauce, or they burn the dish to the point that they pour the sauce all over it in an attempt to cover up their mistake. Their garlic knots are either the best you've ever had or hard enough to cause you to chip a tooth. The first time i had a chicken parm sub, it was crispy chicken, marinara and cheese on toastes bread. Delicious! All was well again...until the next time I ordered it and it was a weird textured, mushy breaded chicken that was way below average. I like knowing what quality of food to expect when i'm a regular customer (and i mean 3+ times per week) I don't like surprises. read more

This place needs to decide whether it's a pizza joint or a restaurant. Sat waiting for drinks and water as people came in and out for pick up orders. Restaurant was out of their pinot grigio (only had one glass left). Strange for a Saturday night. Maybe their guests don't order wine? Salds were nice crisp greens, some basic roma tomatoes, a few pieces of red onion and an olive and nice cukes. Dressings were good. Entrees were average. Veal Parm (yes, I succumbed to my first time taste test) was serviceable with a nice sauce. Spouses veal with red peppers was overwhelmed by the peppers. Pasta was unremarkable. No dessert nor appetizer. Prices are very reasonable- total bill $42 plus tip. for 2 glasses of winer and entrees with salads. So like I've previously said, The calzone was phenomenal... This was more a 2 1/2 but I gave them the extra half, because I do like the place and am not trying to totally bash... Today, I ordered the baked ziti to go, with a side of garlic knots. The verdict: so-so Assessment: I could barely find my raviolis that were drowned in the abundance of mediocre sauce - something about it really tasted Chef Boyardee... Garlic knots were good, but I was expecting better. Didn't try the included homemade bread because I was already way overloaded on carbs. My to-go didn't come with plasticware or napkins, a little frustrating being that this was a to-go for returning to my workplace, not my home. Recommendation: The best pizza joint baked ravioli I have experienced has come from Inferno, specially on Western Ave. Tge price is a bit more competitive and it is definitely more of what I'd expect for a baked ravioli- ample mozzarella, a nice sauce that's not too overwhelming... I wouldn't order this from Mercatos again, I'd stick to the Calzone. read more

Went here for dinner and had the Chicken Sorrento. it was a nice portion with a side of Capellini pasta. The marinara was good and plentiful. Service was so-so, the server was pleasant enough but she made it seem we were bothering her on a quiet Sunday afternoon. I may give it another try. read more

The food is good,but that's about it!!! Everything is TERRIBLE. We chose this place for our Holiday Party since a coworker said the food is fantastic. I called the place to inquire, i was told they were gonna email me a banquet menu,but two weeks later, still no menu! (Red flag!!!) So, a coworker decided to go the place and give them the party details etc. We were all set. Come the day of the party, we were directed to our seats/room quickly. Nice place/decor. We asked the waiter for some water, 45 mins later,no water! Why? Because this same waiter was handling serving food on other tables, taking care of take outs, and another customer who is taking forever buying gc's, plus us who have atleast 15 people in our group. how could they not delegate a server for a group of people? And the bill was made for 22 people,instead of the what we reserved. Take note, i don't think the food was good for 22 people at all. They only refill one entree once out of the 3. Also,Has anyone heard of a cake charge??? Yes, they charge 0.75cents per person for a cake that you brought yourself, and you cut yourself! This is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard!!! My coworker went back to complain and the manager was so proud to say that we even take home the leftover food,and the food must be really good Well,ofcourse, if we paid for it,we will take it. However,they gave us $60 back. This is not the only good Italian Restaurant in the capital region,so my advice is take your business somewhere worth it! read more

I'm sorry my experience earlier this evening was disappointing. My friend and I have eaten here several times before but this was the first experience that was not 5 stars. We ordered the garlic bread as an appetizer and it was ok. The bread was nice and crusty but not as garlicky as I would have preferred. Still, at $3.95 it wasn't bad. In retrospect we should have still received the Italian bread that comes with the meal but we didn't. My friend and I have opined that the server seemed distracted. My friend and I decided to share the entree', which adds a $4 share fee. We've done this in the past and know the generous portions here make sharing worthwhile. We ordered the eggplant parmesan, except I asked that my portion be marinara....without cheese but that each eggplant portion be done crispy. Our pasta choice was capellini with oil and garlic. At some point our server Joe came to our table to explain that the chef wanted us to know that the eggplant is breaded but he can't guarantee that it will be crispy. Since we had this dish in the past we were confident that we would not be disappointed. That was a short lived expectation. The salad was fine, a typical ordinary small salad with good Russian dressing on the side. Our entree plates were covered with food as we expected, with a very tasty red sauce but the eggplant was tough and not cooked well. In short, the eggplant was awful. My friend and I each ate some of the eggplant before realizing how terrible it was. He had the cheese and sauce while I had my sauce but each plate left most of the eggplant. We didn't take it home because we doubted it could be doctored enough to be edible. The capellini was excellent, with little oil and a lot of garlic. This was our first time there since the renovation was completed and the place looks great. We sat in a comfortable booth in the newly added section. There appear to be rooms in the back for private parties. My friend isn't sure he'll return to Mercato's III but I will, because I like pasta and that seems to be their forte' but surely not the eggplant. read more

Tthe pizza was amazing and wings were amazing. We got pepperoni with extra cheese and we all were thrilled with the flavor! We had a bunch of girls hanging out and we had pizza, wings and mozzarella cheese delivered. Both the pizza and wings (medium) were perfect and every one of us agreed. Only mistake was we asked for the raspberry dipping sauce and marinara sauce for the mozzarella cheese and we asked for paper plates and neither came. However, we got over that disappointment really quick when we started digging in. Everything was perfect - pizza hot and cheesy, lots of blue cheese and the marinara sauce made up for the raspberry sauce missing. We all enjoyed it very much! Thank you. read more

Really I give it 4-1/2 but closer to 5 then 4. The food is 5 stars. Its like going to Italy and eating at a fine restaurant for a good price. Nice quaint atmosphere and I like the Italian music playing. They serve pizza but that didn't draw me in. They serve various pasta dishes and all I've tried are so delicious! The dinner dish comes with a salad and the house dressing is pretty good (also comes with warm bread). I needed to add a little more salt and pepper to the dressing to give it some more zest. I am sure their subs and hot sandwiches are super as well. They have a good tiramisu dessert too. If you dine on Mondays and Tuesdays, I believe it is buy one dinner get one free. That's a super deal! If I could have given it 4-1/2 stars I would have, The reason for half a star down is because there was a hair in my dish but the dish was so delicious I didn't complain. The second reason is because they serve their soft drinks in plastic cups. The place is so classy I think they ought to serve their drinks in glasses. I was just at the Cheesecake factory today and loved drinking pop out of the glass. Plastic is so cheap and not classy. But these things are small and could be easily changed and thus the five stars. The only other thing that confused me is under all the pasta dishes it says you have a choice of a pasta or potato side but you really don't since your pasta dish already comes with pasta. They should just remove that off the menu, its redundant for the pasta section of the menu. Otherwise I get tempted for a side of mashed potatoes lool. I feel this place even tops Fabios in Latham but not DaVinci's in Schenectady (but then again you'll have to wait forever to get your dish at Da Vinci's and the price is higher). But really, for Peter Harris Plaza, this place is an super gem if you love a great homemade gourmet pasta dish (from white wine to red to masala to chicken to seafood variations, etc)! read more

We eat here frequently. The dinners are usually great. I often have veal parm, veal francaise, or eggplant rollatini. The flavors are good and the portions generous. I often will get a dinner to go on Friday nights if the rest of the family won't be home, and it is enough for two meals. The hot bread is a nice touch and the salads are fresh. The owners are friendly and the service is good. We also get pizza and wings as take-out. The pizza is usually pretty good, but can be a bit variable. Onions on a pizza should be sliced paper thin, not in big chunks that don't cook through in the oven. Occasionally the toppings are a little skimpy. The heat of the wings is entirely variable and seems to have no correlation to how you order them. But we like them anyway. They are crispy and delicious. read more

The pizza is great but the service has taken a drastic turn for the worst. Working latham, I occasionally take out for lunch. After Mercato's was renovated they stopped selling pizza by the slice and started doing mini personal pizzas for take out. No problem, except when my husband walked in to take out they told him that if he called ahead he could tell them what he wants on the mini pizza for take out. A few weeks later, he calls ahead and they are no longer taking orders for them over the phone, a little annoying but no big deal. He goes into the restaurant and there is no one at the counter and the staff completely ignores him. Apparently Mercato's III does not need our money read more

I would highly recommend the catering service from the restaurant. They catered a very special event for my family and did an excellent job. The food is excellent and much better than the majority of pizza places that advertise catering. The prices are very good. They arrived right on time. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and professional. The catering selections were plentiful with vegetarian options. The only small issues that I had is there were no condiments with the sandwich's. Serving utensils would have been needed if we were not at my home. Just small things so overall I would highly recommend this restaurant and will use them in the future. read more

Today was our first experience at Mercato's. The interior was nicely done except for the vacuum cleaner standing in the dinning room. The server came to the table within minutes of our arrival at 12:20. He brought our sodas which were in fancy glasses with mostly ice and little soda for $2.83. BTW we never got a refill. I ordered the baked ziti, my husband ordered the stuffed shells. The food came out in about 15 minutes which was great. However, the food was disappointing. The two stuffed shells were not what I would call stuffed. When a stuffed shell is collapsed with very little filling is should not be called stuffed. in fact a stuffed shell should not be closed. If anyone ever wants to experience what stuffed shells should be try Rumuntos in Bennington, VT. The baked ziti had very little cheese in it or on top. The price was good but still not worth it when they can not put a fair amount of cheese on their dishes. Will we try again? Maybe once more. read more

I happened in here about 3 years ago while on a business trip. While visiting family in the area I had to look it up again. The food was perfect just like I remembered, but the restaurant has been updated and redecorated. It was a lovely atmosphere with exceptional service. I've been a loyal customer with takeout and bringing family and dates into this restaurant for a while. I ordered a pizza over the telephone and I let the person taking my order no I had a coupon. I checked the coupon carefully the expiration date was limited time offer for take-out only which I let the the person know taking my order and at no time did she refuse the coupon. When I went into the restaurant to get my order I was told that the coupon expired when I asked what the expiration date was the cashier told me limited time offer I continued to say what is the date and he continued to say it's a limited-time offer there is no date so when I refused the order they threatened to call the police so I paid $14 more for my order at no time do they offer me anything any discount or coupons. read more

Just had dinner there tonight on Restaurant Week (first time visitors). They had a wonderful and diverse menu. They certainly did not skimp on portions for Restaurant Week. Their regular menu also looks divine. Our waiter, Almir, was super. You could not have asked for a more pleasant and efficient waiter. The atmosphere is also very pleasing. They are starting a lunch buffet also and they have a $22 special on Tuesday and Wednesday. All three meals were delicious, chick parm, steak, and linguine with clams. The food is great! Unfortunately, when dining in a restaurant there is the service element which, I hate to say, is seriously lacking at this establishment. Upon arriving at 4:45 p.m. one evening this week, we were asked if we had reservations. When we indicated we did not, the owner immediately became rude. We just stood there in complete shock as the owner walked back and forth looking at empty tables. At this point, there were only one other couple in the restaurant. She then said you can sit here. We tried to keep it light and indicated that we did not realize that reservations were required. She abruptly indicated that it was restaurant week and they were expecting a large group in addition to the regular diners. At one point, we both thought of getting up and leaving but had been looking forward to having dinner here for over a week. As people entered the restaurant, they were asked if they had reservations and all (about 20 people) but 2 did not. They were all seated and there were still many open tables when we left about 1.5 hours later. The other waitstaff that subsequently picked up dishes were pleasant and went out of their way to make us feel as if they wanted our business. As the owner of this fine establishment, you the first person that we encountered upon entry and, as such, you made the first impression which will be what we think about upon making our next choice where to dine. Like I said, the food is fantastic so if you can overlook the unfriendliness of the owner then please patronize this establishment. read more
