Please share this story so this business knows and understands just how disgusting and unacceptable this is. My grandfather passed away last week. My aunt ordered food from Mercato's III (http://www.mercatosiii.com/). When the guy came to deliver the food he demanded a $130 tip. If he did not get it he wasn't going to leave the food. My sister's friends were at the firehouse to be there to setup the food so when we were done at the cemetery the food would be there and ready. They had to call my Dad while he was in the precession line to the cemetery so he could talk to him. The guy insisted that he would not leave the food unless my Dad brought him the money!!! Nevertheless my Dad being who he is said some strong words to him and told him the food better be there when he gets there. The guy finally left it. All he did was deliver the food. He did not set it up or serve it and yet he was demanding a 20% tip!!! Please please pass this along so no one else orders from this despicable place and has to go through what we did on such an emotional day. The horrible part is when my uncle called and spoke to the woman owner she told him WE must have misunderstood him. That he would never do something like that. She blew us off!!!! In this day of chain restaurants, Mercato's III is a breath of fresh air! I have eaten there several times and it's consistently excellent! When you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile and a feeling you are welcome. The service is always great and the food is outstanding, it is served to you right out of the oven and is hot and delicious. Mercato's III menu offers a varied assortment of favorite Italian dishes and they offer many of their own creations, which are delicious. Their pizza is excellent and they also offer specialty pizzas that are great. Mercato's III has become one of my favorite places to eat. Say hello to Bella and her staff, they will treat you like family. And if this is not enough, they are very reasonably priced. read more

Very disappointed with their catering services. More disappointed with the calzone that was added to the order in the end. To start, my catering order was not accurate. I requested a half order pan of pasta, but received and was charged for a full. I ordered bread, but received none. When they delivered the bread, we received a stale full loaf of bread. It wasn't cut / prepped in slices, nor was there any butter. Did I mention this was a catering service..... Their response to the bread, we don't serve butter with our bread. The calzone was ordered with sausage. However, what they had mixed in the calzone was the fat mixture used to make sausage and not the meat. All who ate the calzone were seen spitting out the "sausage" pieces. I would not recommend their catering services. And, after this, I will not visit the restaurant. read more

Been to Mercato's III on three different occasions..each time the service and food was worse than the last time. They are not consistent with quality and taste of food. The last time I was their one of the owners had a "big attitude" problem because I asked for a veggie slice of pizza. The two owners were arguing behind the counter while I waited then the male owner came over and asked me what veggies did I want on my pizza. They promised me the two prior times that they will accomodate with whatever toppings I want on my slice. It was brocolli for goodness sake. Also don't be misled the female owner specifically let me know they have no affiliation with the other two Mercato locations. Bad blood or maybe family fued..who knows. I will not go there again...snotty attitude and okay pasta dishes..inconsistent pizza quality. read more

This restaurant has no idea what the phrase "the customer is always right" means! The delivery guy demanded a $130 tip when delivering food to a friends grandfathers funeral. If that wasn't bad enough, the owner refused to believe my friend when she called to object to this treatment. When did it become acceptable for a place to DEMAND a tip just to deliver food that was already paid for!! Then accuse the customer of basically lying about what happened. Went tonite, 4 of us after picking my daughter in law and son up at Alb Airport coming back from Arizona.Made reserverations for 7:15PM.Arrived late due to baggage issue at 7:38.Place in kaios.Stood at hostess stand,no one acknowledged us for 10 minutes.Seems everyone preoccupied with serving customers there.Tonite was Restaurant Week,which we were unaware as were from outside Albany County.Finally hostess acknowledged us said would be right back.Several minutes later after seating another party,We were seated.She said out waiter would be right there.12 minutes later a waiter arrived,who was waiting on people in very back of room.He took our drink order,came back relatively soon with our sodas but no waters we all ordered.In meantime I,m watching this one waiter who came out with numerous plates of food one or two at a time on 4 trips.???Our waiter came back to get our orders expecting us to order from simplified one sheet Restaurant Week.We asked for a menu and for one or another reason was told he coull bring us one menu.??We wanted a large salad and two pizzas.???? I guess you no longer can do such things during Restaurant Week. Note to this restaurant,Don,t play games with customers,ever though its Restaurant Week,some customers may want other than Restaurant week simplified menu items.CAUSE:There is more than one Pizza Restaurant in Albany County,of which a prior nice experience at your restaurant caused this reservation and want to revisit.Not Happy with this experience.Mass Confusion and over worked staff.Pizza,s were excellent but service was lousy.Waiter never came back to our table for about twenty minutes after ordering drinks as he had to make salad as no one was avail in Kitchen to put together a salad.????? read more

My husband ordered veal piccata and got chicken piccata the waitress never came back to refill our drinks I stacked the empty salad dishes and empty glasses at the end of the table and she didn't take them away terrible service I ordered chicken Parmesan and it was good but the service was terrible our waitress was standing next to the bar playing with her long hair disgusting. We were invited to lunch at Mercato's III on a Sunday after a baptism. We arrived about 12:30 pm as the invitation indicated. The restaurant was only open for the family. The staff was very welcoming and set up more tables as more people arrived. Also, there had been a miscommunication and we were not to be at the restaurant until 1:30 pm. The staff was so gracious, you would not have known we arrived to early. They just set more tables and served wine. The salad and bread were really fresh and delicious. There were three entrees; one was eggplant parmesian. They were all hot and tasty. Even when 5 members of the family showed up after 2:15 the staff just set another table and welcomed everyone. The food was delicious, The staff was unflappable and everyone had a good time and a wonderful lunch to celebrate the baptism. I wish this restaurant was near my home. read more

The waitress was wonderful and the food was decent but nothing outstanding either. I also think it was a little expensive for what you get. By far the best pizza in Latham. We have ordered here about 10 time, one time the pizza crust ws not cooked enough - every other time it has been great. Wings are good, salads are good, it is our "regular place"now. read more

Glad I found this place! Hidden gem. There was no music on when we entered, (which I think is most important for a nice dining out night), but was quickly turned on once asked. It totally made our experience 100% better! We had the spedini appetizer which was awesome, and plenty for two! The brown wine sauce was delicious, and I'll have it everytime! The bread was hot, salads were fresh and plentiful, and our dinners eggplant & veal parm both very good accompanied with the pasta and sauce. We finished with a yummy cheesecake, (some lemon flavor, which we loved)! The price is very reasonable, and I'll be back again....soon! read more

I've eaten there 3 times now. The first two times were excellent. I ordered a strip steak and a baked potato. The steak was probably the best steak I had ever eaten in my life and cooked to medium rare perfection. The third time my steak was over cooked, but they took it back and gave me a new one. The food seems made to order and most, if not all, of their salad dressings are homemade and excellent. The only reason that I did not give this place 4 or 5 stars is because the service is extremely slow. I'm not sure if it is because they need more wait staff or what, but when you need something and your waiter does not come around to check on you at appropriate times for drink re-fills or to make sure you food is to your liking, it is not a good experience. Same thing with sitting there for another 20 minutes to get you bill and then another 15 minutes to wait for them to bring your credit card or change back. On the other hand, if you don't mind a lengthy dining experience and have want to go there to visit with friends and family, it provides a nice relaxed and leisurely experience unlike some restaurants where you feel rushed. So there are procs and cons to the slow experience depending on what your are there for. read more

This place is horrible please don't give them any business if you read this. My family went threw something nobody should. I ordered food from this place twice, and gave them a second chance as well, and was never satisfied. they would always get the wings wrong I would ask from crispy and medium they would make them extra spicy and not crispy at all.when I ordered the other time the pizza dough was not cooked.we called and told them about it but the women said we don't know pizza and we should have told them we wanted it well done.we had to bake the pizza our selfs for another 10 min just to eat it. The lady that picks up the phone has a thick accent and is really rude and unpleasant on the phone. However that's not the worst of it.
