I believe this salon is recently under new ownership. I have went here about a year or so ago, and then I went yesterday, and it is much different. I got a package that included a Spa pedicure II and gel manicure. The women who did my pedicure was very rough, and completed the pedicure EXTREMELY fast. It was in no way relaxing. The 15 min foot/leg massage that was included seemed like it dragged on forever (not in a good way). There was no muscle put into the massage, she pretty much just was petting my legs. Spent no time on the cuticles of my toes. The manicure was a little better, except for that fact that she cut me. Also not relaxing whatsoever. I do not recommend. Very disappointing. read more

This place is GREAT! The work they do is impeccable and if there does happen to be an issue, they fix it! I had gone here a few times, pre-virus, but hadn't been back since. But I went today to get nails and pedi with an upcoming bride. We were NOT disappointed! Appointments are required due to state restrictions, so we made an appointment for 3 adults 1 child for mani(dips) and pedis for all. We walked in and everything was very clean and they are cleaning after every client.  There are separations, between each seat and between the client and the tech. We felt very comfortable and safe while getting our services. Their pedicures are AMAZING. They have 5 different levels of pedicure to choose from; be it a quick, affordable classic pedi, or the longer relaxing extravagance of the Mermaid Pedicure IV. All have great add-ins that make it worth the price!  Whether you're getting a classic manicure or a gel dip they do a great job.  The attention to detail and making it just right for you.  Our bride wanted an ombre gel dip and that she got and it is just beautiful! Almond shaped gel full set French/solid combo with flower detail, two colors. This was my first time at Mermaid Nails. I had heard good things via Facebook friends. I called that morning and got an appointment same day. I had a screenshot of what I wanted. I started off with Christine, who prepped my nails and then switched to Michael, who brought my picture to life. ( I didn't mind the switch, I had booked last minute and was just happy that they were able to accommodate me). My nails were pricey, just over $70 after a 20% tip. I must've got hit with some "extras", but I didn't ask beforehand what it would cost, so not going to ding them for that! Here I am three weeks out, no lifting or chipping. Not quite as shiney as day one, but they held up incredibly well! I definitely enjoyed the massage and the place was well kept. I'll definitely be back, but plan to ask prices beforehand this time. I only went here to get rid of a bad manicure "design" I got from ANOTHER salon that I went to before. Michael e-filed everything off so carefully without even burning me once (unlike the woman at said other salon, who burned nearly all my fingers.) Michael even stopped to ask me if anything hurt while removing anything. He made sure I wasn't experiencing any pain or discomfort. After removing everything, he made sure I washed my hands, and he cleaned his work station. Lastly, he massaged lotion into my hands. His entire service should be the minimum requirement for all salon services everywhere! read more

We went today without an appointment. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait. Not a big deal. So we booked a mani pedi for my mom and a powder mani and pedi for myself. We came back in at 3:30 and were quickly taken care of. They started with the pedicures. I've had a few pedicures at other salons and this one was by far the best one I've ever had. They did an amazing job and were very thorough. My feet have never been so soft. They finished it with a hot stone leg massage. Then they did our manicures. I'm pretty picky when it comes to the shape of my nails. The girl I had cut and shaped them perfectly. I wish I would have taken before and after pics. My nails look amazing. I got a bright yellow, way out of my comfort zone. This is going to be my new nail salon. I had been previously been going to vernal nails in Norwich, I've been a client for over a year now. The pedicure and manicure were good for the most part, and the leg massage was great HOWEVER, it was not clean at all and made me extremely uncomfortable. They had plenty of people who could have cleaned which would not have been an issue at all, yet none of them did. There was so much residual nail shavings, etc. that I started coughing. The pedicure was the best part. What I also found sketchy was the fact that once I paid and added the tip, they told me not to worry about the total and that they would add it it up for me. I did not appreciate that at all. I am able to add by myself and this made me worry about whether any fraud would occur. I do have to say, I'm pretty disappointed. After reading reviews from here, I was excited to have some time to relax. My experience was anything but relaxing. I completely understand that maybe my tech was having a rough day, especially because my appointment was later in the day. However, the entire time I was getting my pedicure done, he was rushing, huffing, and puffing. This also continued into the nail portion of my appointment. Prior to scheduling my appointment I had called to ask what the price would be for a basic pedicure and a full set of dip powder extensions. I was told over the phone that it would be $32 for a basic pedicure and $45 for the dip powder, plus an additional $10 for the extensions. That means my total should have been somewhere around $87-$97 (I did get a "design" a French tip outline, so I expected to pay a little more than what I was quoted). I watched my tech write $85 on the slip, then scribble it out and walk the ticket to the front of the shop. When I walked to the front, I was told that my total was going to be $117 and was pressured into using cash. The woman asked me to go to the back of the store and use their ATM. My friend that I was there with paid almost the same amount as me not even 20 minutes prior and was not given the same request. Like I said, I expected to pay between $15-$20 extra dollars because it technically is a design but to pay an extra $30+ dollars for two lines across my nails seems a little absurd. I thoroughly enjoyed my pedicure this evening with Kay. I opted for the Spa Pedicure I. This included a ten minute massage, a shoulder massage, hot stone massage and callus removal. I opted for gel polish which Kay very kindly noted it would be an up charge when I asked. Which I thought was very nice of her to make sure it was ok. She took her time and took pride in her work. During COVID I was happy with their prompt request to sanitize my hands. Everyone was masked. Distance and barriers/shields used in every and any way possible. Everyone was very nice and promptly greeted upon entrance. They had a great color selection!! Kay even noticed when the massage chair would stop and would restart for me, great attention to detail. She provided me with a punch card as well. I made my appointment on Facebook, which was so easy!!! 10/10 recommend! read more

I started going here in the spring when I heard about the ANC dip manicures. The workers have generally been friendly and the place does seem pretty clean. That being said, I have had workers on the phone the entire time I've been getting manicures, and they've even gotten up and walked out of the building for 10-15 minutes without a word to me - that is totally unprofessional. As for the ANC dip manicures - these have RUINED my nails! I have always had very strong and healthy nails. Everything seemed great the first couple of times and the manicures lasted four weeks or more. The past couple of times I went, however, the manicures lasted a week before they started chipping off, taking half of my nail with it. I decided to have it taken off completely and I am shocked at how my nails look now. They are so thin and keep breaking. I don't know if its just the process of the dip manicure as this is the only place I've gotten it done, or if it's this place specifically, but I can not recommend this place for that type of manicure. read more

One of the best acrylic fill ins I've ever had! He really listened to the shape and length that I wanted. My nails look beautiful. The staff is not super friendly or luxurious but he did a great job. It's expensive, but at least a fill in includes GEL polish, not just regular! If you want a luxury spa experience, this isn't quite it but great for an every day mani. read more

This was my first visit here, I called around noon and made my girlfriend and I's appointment for later on in the day. We showed up and they sat us down right away. Two guys did our nails they were nice just not as friendly as they usually are as they do your nails. I felt like I was asking a lot of questions to get some type of communication with him (KK) but he did an awesome job and I did tips and ANC and my color was #35 and then I did Cinderella on my ring fingers which is basically sparkles. It was $42 without tip so kind of pricey hoping they last a while! I will make an update once th fall off So update- the ANC lasted me 28 days I pulled them off because they were so outgrown and I had acrylic tips so you can only imagine ‍ BUT I bet they would have lasted even longer ! read more

So I tried this place twice after seeing some awesome yelp reviews and their large ANC color selection. The first time I went the man who did my nails was SO rude. He kept laughing at me for not understanding what his hand gestures meant. I forgot that I could only tip in cash and only had $4 I gave it to him and he looked at me disgusted and made an "uff" noise. REALLY after barely cleaning my cuticles and being rough you shouldn't have even gotten a tip! Next time I went the woman was so rude and rough with my nails. She gave my 10seconds to choose a color. Would not adjust the water temp for my pedicure. Getting ANC is different and I wasn't used it to yet. I left in almost tears b/c she made me feel that uncomfortable especially since their was a HUGE language barrier. The atmosphere was not relaxing at all. Today I had my nails professionally done for the first time in my life. I had this powder gel polish. I took my daughter and she got acrylic nails with the powder polish on top. I loved everything about my experience. I called ahead to see if I needed an appointment, they do take walk-ins, but I made an appointment since I was on the phone already. I got a card with the date and what service I received written on the back and after so many visits you get a discount. If you pay cash you get a discount also. I have had 2 of the ANH powder manicures now and I highly recommend them. They last much longer than the traditional gel and don't damage your natural nails. My first I waited 4 weeks before returning and if it weren't for the growth I could have waited longer (3 weeks is the recommended). I am into week 2 now of the second and they are like new. No more drying time or light treatment either! BUT...most important is the quality of the service and the staff. Patrons are treated with respect and consideration. The first time I was an unknown walk in and the second I called about 15 minutes ahead. Both my stylists were superior to others I have had over a period of 10 years+ in both their ability and consideration. They used utmost care in all they did. The spa is extremely clean as is the dress and demeanor of the workers. Prices are reasonable, too! So.. if you are looking for an excellent nail spa, you must try Mermaid Spa. read more

I went here last week to get a gel nail manicure. It looked a little sketchy but had good reviews. The manicure was horrible. They don't soak your nails, barely trim your cuticles and it was painful. Also tools did not look clean. With in 2 days the end of my nails looked scuffed or dirty and it wouldn't go away. I realized the polish was already wearing off!! All of my other gel manicures at every other shop I have tried have stayed beautiful for at least 2 weeks. I feel like I just threw my money in the trash! Every time I go in they are extremely careful and kind with how they do my nails so I'm not in pain (my nails are thin always). However I went in today with my girls to get my regular ANC done and I had a new technician. Was kind and everything but he didn't do as well of a job a I'm use to. My nails don't particularly match shape or length wise and my cuticles were not taken care of.
