If I could give this 0 stars I would. I came in to get a manicure and pedicure and ended up with a doctors visit. First, I checked in to my reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes. Then, turns out that the nail polish I chose was $2 extra per polish, and no one told me this until I was checking out at the register. That's not okay, that's tricking me into spending more money. But that's just a few small things, the reason I am giving 1 star is because my pedicure left me with an INFECTION! The woman doing my pedicure kept digging and digging into the side of my toe, to the point I had tears in my eyes. I don't know if it was the fact that she left my foot raw, open and prone to infection or that my foot was soaked in unsanitary water but a few days after the pedicure, my foot was sore and I couldn't wear any close toed shoes. Then it kept getting more swollen, red, and filled with puss. I had to go to the doctors where they told me I had a bad infection that needed medication asap!!! This is absolutely unacceptable. I have a had many pedicures in my life, and none have left me in this much pain. Do not go here unless you want to end up at the doctors with an antibiotic to fix an infection. read more

I come here all the time for pedicures. The chairs are nice, they give a good foot/leg massage...and my polish usually lasts until the next time I come in (3 weeks to 1 month). One girl commented that the tools aren't sterile. I didn't notice that, but then again I never look. Based on my experience they are super friendly, put money in your meter for your if you run late, and really scrub the bottom of your feet. The nail polish selection is pretty good. I had a young male tech do my hands (the one time I had that done) and he didn't do the best job...but I don't think he's working there anymore. I haven't seen him in a while. read more

I went here because of the reviews and they were open on Sundays. I am very particular and picky about my nails when I get them done especially with being pregnant I want my nails to look nice. The ladies were very nice. I came for a pedicure and a gel manicure with designs on my big toes. The price was about $48 for the whole thing. I wish I could have gone some where else! The nail design really sucked and were very ugly! The gel on my finger nails are so thick and not evened out! I have been coming here for YEARS and I will continue to do so as its hard to find a really great nail place that is clean nail and a great person you trust to do your nails. After reading some of the reviews, here is my two cents (that turned into a novel). - Yes, there are certain nail polish brands that are $2 extra. There is a sign CLEARLY stating this next to the brand. Reason being is because this brand cost more than the normal kind because it LASTS longer. :) Lets not blame them because you didn't see it. - Yes, as usual there are different types of manicurists. Some do a great job, some do OK and some are just awful. If you have never been to this place I would suggest doing your research to look for reviews to see who is highly recommended. If you walk in off the street, lets be honest, that's the gamble you are taking! Put your finger in the water before you put your hands/feet in! If you don't like the temperature, ask them to change it! Simple! If you don't like the amount of pressure any of they use, speak up! You're an adult, you don't need someone to speak up for you. :) - I don't watch every single person in there to see where they grab things from but I do make sure that the manicurist that is working on me is using sterile stuff and that I am seated in a clean are and my feet are going in a sanitized spa tub. You should too... That is just common sense. You can't assume. And you need to just speak up if you want something changed. - Yes, there are times here and there where they may be running behind. Its NOT often and it just comes with people arriving late and it trickling down. Just like sometimes you may run late somewhere due to unforeseen circumstances, lets try keep that in mind. Again, its not often but things do happen. Yes, I understand we all set appointments for a reason and we may have somewhere to be after. Trust me, I get it. If you speak up about this during a time when this is happening, I have seen them do their very best to get you out of there on time. - This isn't a fancy nail place and this isn't a hole in the wall either. I think for what they charge on top of making sure you do your research before you go here, its the perfect price and atmosphere. $28 for a "regular" manicure AND pedicure. I only let Lisa do my nails. There are two (2) Lisa's. The Lisa I let do my nails was the old owner of this place before Maggie and her husband took over. You can't go wrong with her! For other options - here is the order I would go in to guarantee that you have a good experience: 1. Lisa (previous owner) 2. Maggie 3. Lisa (the other Lisa :) ) 4. Bella 5. Tom (he is great on your feet! Very good foot massages :) ) Please note that they do NOT take AMERICAN EXPRESS. They do have parking in the back that can get packed quickly but there is metered parking in the front. To not have to worry about paying for a meter you can park on one of the side streets. The ONLY downfall I have is that some of the regulars talk on their phones. I admit this is very annoying but I have learned to bring my phone/Ipod with my headphones and I just pop those babies in my ears with some music and relax without hearing the chatter. This is the ONLY thing I wish Maggie would make a sign about because I think its well known that this is suppose to be a pampering and relaxing time. Hearing about what you are going to wear in the club tonight, what your family member did to someone last weekend or my favorite... hear you yell at someone in a different language that clearly is an argument not meant for virgin ears - that is the only thing I wish would change. :) Other than that! Maggie and Tom are great! They really take their time and give you the best service. After years of having my manicures only last half a week (because I type all all day at work), I decided to try acrylics. I saw some other ladies there and their acrylics looked great. I told Maggie that I wanted them short and to look as real as possible. She delivered! I have people tell me all the time that I have such nice real nails. :-) Tom also does a great job with pedicures and really gives A+ treatment for my tired, worn feet. The other nice thing that is great here is that they are not pushy with upselling as other places can be. No offering to put tacky jewelry on my nails or repeatedly asking me if I want a flower on my toes. Definitely call for an appointment. Most of the time it's just the two of them. If you call, it's easy to get an appointment, but just walking in could be iffy. read more

As far as nail salons go, it didn't really stand out. The atmosphere was quiet and a little awkward, to be honest, and the gel manicure was cheap, but more of in a "you get what you pay for" kind of way. They also didn't have the nude color I picked out, so I had to go with a different one. They will remove your gel nails for free, which is nice, but the whole time my manicurist talked on her phone and pretty much ignored me, which made the experience take longer than it should have. My gels usually chip about 5 days in. Everyone thinks it's insane. A friend of mine always had gels that lasted forever. When I had to get my nails done for a wedding I asked her where she went. I showed up without an appointment and had to wait, which is pretty standard workout an appointment, but they squeezed me in. The gel mani lasted 2 weeks! I was obviously impressed. That's NEVER happened before. A few weeks later I had another event. I got them done on 4/27. I had them removed 5/23 and they hadn't chipped or cracked! -----unfortunately I had a very bad experience there.... Maggie the owner had been giving me pink and white acrylic fills which were more expensive than gel fills. I had acrylics instead of gel because I did not want to soak my gingers in acetone -which is how you would remove gel nails - the acrylic nails could just be peeled off. Maggie changed it to gel and my nails are ruined! I don't know which was worse her being dishonest or my nails being ruined. By the way I was tipping very well!!! read more

What a great find ! Only $25 for gel nails best deal in my area. This place is cozy, nice staff and a million and one gel nail options. I called 30 mins before I went in and they took my appointment with no problems. I showed up and instantly liked my manicurists. They even do a nice honey scrub on your legs! I am the kind of person that will only go to a certain person at a specific nail salon. Today, I decided to take a chance with Merry Nails as a walk in for a full set of pointed acrylics. I walked in and was nicely greeted and immediately offered a seat. The ladies were so kind inside with great prices so I decided to get a pedicure as well. The pedicure was great, but the real gem from this visit is my acrylics. Amy did my acrylics and spent 2 hours meticulously sculpting them. They turned out better than I've ever received, and now I'll be coming back to Merry Nails for my acrylics rather than my regular place in Woodland Hills. I'm about 6 months pregnant and I've been having a harder and harder time reaching my feet. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon to no wait at the salon. The chairs where just emptying out, lucky me. They had a wide selection of colors though some looked old. There was a great variety of magazines on the coffee table to read, a plus. They seemed clean, utensils were sterile, and massage chairs were working. The woman was friendly without being overly chatty. They do the regular routine of cleaning cuticles, foot scrubbing, lotioning, and massaging. Nothing spectacular but yet worth what you've paid. I've got pretty toes and thats what I wanted. I came here and got a gel manicure, a pedicure and eyebrow wax. I was really happy with my gel manicure to begin with. However, it has been a week and my once strong nails are now brittle and breaking. I noticed that the technician was very aggressive in taking of my previous gels and while I was concerned, I didn't say anything. I won't be coming back. Wow, from the exterior this place looks like one of the zillion other chop shops that are on every block of the valley. But once you sit down and Lisa begins her work, you discover you're literally in the hands of a master. Her acrylic application is mesmerizing. She is *meticulous* and spent more time perfecting an almond shape than maybe the last 5 techs combined. Her polish application is no different - precision is the name of her game. Allll the way to the very edges and close to the cuticle without any polish on my skin. (I've left other places with blobs of polish on fingers or worse, had my skin sanded down in an attempt to removed the polish from my skin.) Not Lisa! This is an art form for her. And she's very friendly, fun and sweet, making for a really lovely experience. Now are you sitting down? The acrylic fill and gel polish cost me all of $35 !!!!! I had to ask twice when I was told the total. I paid twice that 2 weeks ago at a lousy place that did a craptastic job. Lisa and this shop are the best-kept secrets of Ventura. This is a perfect little spot! It's not big but it was easy to get in on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm which is awesome. It's totally low key and not a scene which is also relaxing. They have the spa chairs and good mags. What makes it 5 stars though was my pedicure. It looked absolutely PERFECT. 2 weeks later...it looks exactly the same.
