I have to say we love the food here BUT this location in dallas across from klyde warren has done the same thing to us three times so unfortunately this is our last time visiting. We walked in just now and there was at least 10 empty tables and they told us it would be 20 minutes because they had no servers as we literally count 6 of them hanging out by the back room computer. Another party of two walked in after us and the hostess quoted her 40 minutes when there's literally so many tables open. We left because this just didn't make sense to us and headed to the Greenville location where we've always had a pleasant experience. read more

This place was a random pick during our weekend in Dallas. We showed up around 1 and were promptly seated next to the bar. It's pretty loud but friendly and happy atmosphere. Our waitress was very sweet. We started off with the top shelf margaritas and cheese dip. Holy cow y'all these were STRONG, so I had two. Lit. The cheese dip and salsa were on point. I ordered the Chile Relleno and my husband got the brisket enchiladas. The only negative I have about my dish was the breading on the Chile, I'd prefer it to be thinner and with a crunch. It also was not that hot but we were starving. I devoured mine and my husband enjoyed his enchiladas. The flavors were so good. This is a cool place near the American Airlines Center. Lots of people stopping in before the game. The salsa was excellent. I had the brisket tacos and they were very good. The most impressive thing about this restaurant was how FAST the service was! It was packed for dinner on Thursday and we were served our food within minutes of being seated. Their chips + salsa + quest were addicting. Would definitely recommend getting the Mole Poblano enchiladas. read more

3 stars go to the chips,salsa and the asada plate. Reserved a table for our wedding anniversary because of the reviews and the pictures. I saw another review saying they came for there anniversary and plating presentation was beautiful. When we arrive we were seated promptly, the host was very friendly and took us to our booth I was wearing a dress as soon as I sat down I felt that the seat was cracked. I don't complain about stuff like that so I just moved to another section of the booth but I expected way better seating. There was no candle, no fancy tables, like it shows in the pictures on the websites. It was very loud but that was expected on a Saturday night. I had previously studied the menu days before and already knew what I wanted. Like we do at all restaurants we get different dishes and sample off each of them. My husband got the asada plate and I got the mole enchiladas which were the most raved and reviewed plates on here. Our server didn't come until about 10 mins of us sitting there, chips came before he did and those were amazing, best salsa and homemade chips. Once our server came he took our drink order and I of course got the Avocado margarita that everyone raved about, my husband got a beer. My margarita came and it was horrible, tasted like soap water and I'm not a picky drinker lol. I forced my self to drink it because of the price. It wasn't really cold or strong,and that Saturday night was extremely hot so I was expecting a cold margarita for dinner. The mole enchiladas were okay, my husband and I think the ones I make are better, so really nothing much to say about them but I can see why someone who doesn't eat or cook a lot of authentic Mexican food would like these. My husbands asada was amazing, it was tender,juicy moist and very well seasoned, we also loved the corn tamale that was served with it, but we've had asada like that at another place. Overall unimpressed and disappointed, waiter was just doing his job not overly friendly and didn't acknowledge that we were celebrating our anniversary. Authentic is in the eye-of-the-beholder .... lets just say it was Damn Good Mexican cuisine (not tex mex !) Excellent Carnitas and fish dinners. I recommend the Guacamole, and although it may not win prizes it was simple, flavorful and fresh - reminded me of summer. Good food, great drinks and an awesome patio! We went there for two things, the patio and the avocado margarita and both did not disappoint! If you like sitting on a patio and sipping drinks, this place is great for that. You almost feel like you are in Spain, sitting in a local restaurant. As for the avocado margarita, that is tasty as well! Service was great, the server was very attentive. Food came pretty quickly too. As far as our meal, we ordered the Cochinita Pibil (Yucatan style braised pork), the meat was very tender and the flavor outstanding; and we tried the Budin Azteca (tortillas layered with cheese) plain and I ordered the carne asada as an accompaniment. The Budin was excellent, but I was disappointed with the carne asada. The server talked it up to being the best thing on the menu, I thought it lacked flavor, it was too greasy and there were large chunks of fat mixed in. We ordered the guacamole and queso for appetizer, the guac was excellent, the queso not so much. Overall the meal was good, just a couple things we would have changed. The margaritas are delicious; funny the skinny one had the most alcohol. The avocado one is the best, followed by the skinny. We also tried the serrano berry and the cucumber. Yummy! We are so happy that Dallas finally has some memorable dining choices. Too many chains fill our city so this seemingly sustainable trend is awesome! Nice location down the street from the Ritz , the busy action of the Cedar Springs/upper McKinney areas and close to the Kyle Warren park. Plenty of parking in the adjacent lot. Outside taco bar and patio looked enticing for a cooler day. Blower mists were keeping the dining patio cooler though. Our late lunch dining here was delicious with a wonderful server too. Came on a Tuesday at 11:10pm with a small group. We were the first ones there and seated immediately. I ordered Arugula salad. It was beautiful! There were different colors from mango, jicama, and peanuts. It normally comes with goat cheese, but I left it off. It also had a light vinaigrette. Very refreshing! read more

The Budin Azteca with vegetables was tasty! I haven't seen a dish like that before! It has layers of soft corn tortillas and cheese. Like a Mexican cheese lasagna. Then it is covered with a verde sauce with vegetables. It was so satisfying for a veggie dish and I ate every bit. Try the queso dip and guacamole as appetizers. Our table finished those off quickly! So my in-laws LOVE Mexican food and always go to places like On The Border to eat when they come visit. (drives me crazy!!) So I decided to google the number one Mexican restaurant in the DFW area and this place popped up. First of all, I recommend reservations. We didn't have any and waited an hour before being seated but I totally blame my lack of planning. There is not really a big waiting area so be prepared to wait outside because they do free valet parking so you get stuck. The staff was AMAZING!!! The hostess was on top of her stuff. Our waitress was training somebody but still gave us one of the best services I've ever had. Our glasses were never empty, she explained the dishes perfectly and I just can't put into words how fantastic she was, even while training, she didn't seem distracted or miss a beat. The food was every bit as good as all the reviews. I split the chile relleno with my hubby and it was probably the best one I've ever had!!! The chips and salsa were the best I've ever had. Having just had a great meal down in Austin of comparable cuisines it is hard to give Meso Maya a great review. First off, the place is super loud. Then there were the attitude laden hostesses that could have cared less. We opted to sit in the bar area at a communal high top. Service was attentive and efficient. Four apps were a mixed bag. The guacamole and queso were excellent while the pozole verde and chicharrones fell flat. I was particularly disappointed with the chicharrones as the description made it one of my most awaited dishes of this trip. I wanted something different that the carne asada but our server convinced me it was the best thing on the menu. I should have trusted my gut. Over cooked and under spiced and quite tough, this was one of the most uninspiring carne asadas I have ever eaten. My daughters budin Aztec with shrimp was very good (what little she let me try!) while my friends cochinita pibil was ok but the flavors were a tad muddled. All in all not a bad meal just not up to par with the rest of the restaurants we have tried on our Dallas/Austin trip. read more

The best Mexican restaurant that I have ever been to and I have been to MANY! This was authentic Mexican - not Tex-Mex. The salsa, queso, and guacamole was so flavorful and the queso didn't gel up like so many that I have had in other restaurants. The sauces on our meals were amazing. I can recommend the enchiladas with sage and cilantro- I think they were called Serrano enchiladas. I had the creamed corn and it was amazing. The drinks were amazing too - had the house margarita and the last margarita on the list. The waitress had a great sense of humor and was there when we needed her - what a great dining experience! What I reviewing is the difference in my expectations of what i would get from a portion size vs what the reality was when ordering through Postmates. I have eaten in the restaurant several times and thought what I would get would be the same portions of food. Very disappointed because what i got was nothing like the restaurant. I ordered the Ceviche which I have had a number of times and the quantity and quality had always been great. This was less than 4oz of food for $11!!!! And most of that was lettuce and pico - very little actual ceviche. I also ordered guacamole and was very aurpriswd that unlike at the restaurant we received no chips. My husband ordered the carne tacos and they were significantly smaller than a normal order. Overall for over $45 this was very disappointing and honestly a waste of money because i now have to find something else to eat.
