Great addition to Cape Coral! Have had late breakfasts here twice so far and everything we've had has been delicious. Service has been friendly. I especially loved the fried chicken (and waffles), my husband loves the corn beef hash, and my brother in law loves the philly cheese steak. This was our first time here, stopped by for a late dinner. The food was fresh and homemade. I had chicken pot pie topped with fresh biscuit dough, it was delicious (makes me want to come by for breakfast to try the gravy and biscuits). My husband got several sides, salad, home fries, grilled vegetables (zucchini and yellow squash) and mac & cheese (creamy and cheesy). All of our food was delicious. The service was top notch, Alan was great very energetic and always there at the perfect time. Started with their $5 Bloody Mary which was delicious a well seasoned mix with a wedge of lemon and a celery stalk. The portions are quite large my wife's chicken and waffles was half a fryers chicken and a full Belgian waffle. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned that they serve with a strawberry butter that was quite tasty. They also serve with a spicy maple syrup that's a perfect match. I got the biscuits and gravy. That come with two big fluffy biscuits and well seasoned sausage gravy two eggs cooked to order and hash browns. I ended up taking the hash browns and half my wife's chicken and waffles home and was super stuffed. They serve breakfast from open to close along with beers, mimosas, and bloody Mary's. I can't wait to go back from something more savory. I've been to about 10 different restaurants this week, from higher end to just short of fast food, Metro Diner was my favorite. I had always wanted to try Huevos Rancheros, it did not disappoint. And the Bloody Mary went perfect with it. On an even better note, I paid with cash and my waitress said "I'll bring you your change" not "do you want change." I really appreciate that. We were in town visiting friends all week and they kept mentioning taking us here because the food was amazing, oh man they were SO right! There was kind of a long wait which I was cool with. My boyfriend and I spotted this place a few days ago while eating lunch at Culver's and knew we had to check this place out for breakfast! We came today, and we weren't disappointed! Very homey, welcoming vibe and the friendliest staff in the world! We had a very kind waitress named Brittney(I apologize if it's spelled differently!) She was super sweet and went over the menu to us as it was our first time. I decided on the biscuits and gravy platter that comes with two eggs any way and a side of hashbrowns. I also got a side of avocado toast. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles. Everything was absolutely delicious! They give you large portions and the funniest thing was that when my boyfriend thought he had all the chicken on the plate, the hostess that was helping out our table said "No, you still got half a chicken left." They make everything from scratch, including the fried chicken and we definitely underestimated everything - you can definitely split either plate with somebody! I like this restaurant. The food is good and portions are generous. I go here fairly often. My concern is the employees aren't wearing masks. Every business I have been to requires their employees to wear them, vaccinated or not. We have seen that vaccinated people are still getting sick and can still spread it. It is safer and helps the customers to feel a bit more comfortable in these uncertain times. The customers can't wear masks when they are eating so they can't protect themselves. They also don't know if someone has really been vaccinated or just chooses not to wear a mask. As the Delta virus takes hold, I hope the Metro Diner masks up. read more

Food is marvelous with the classics and unique items to choose from. The service was efficient and friendly. What really stood out was the kitchen (at least what you can see from the bar). I bought 200$ in gift cards from the Bonita Springs location around the Holidays last year and they gave these 10$ cards for every 50$ I spent... I came back down to Florida in September thinking invoice use these cards? Very rude wait staff - kept calling me 'honey' even though I was old enough to be her father and asked her to stop calling me that. Additionally, completely messed up my order. They took it back to prepare a new order and my dining partner completed her meal before I got my order. Barely an apology. Had to make a sandwich when I got home. Review should have been 5, my error. But I have to say we went for dinner last night. I ate a waffle, my husband had the stuffing waffle and turkey. According to him, it was thanksgiving on a plate! The turkey was delicious, stuffing was crispy, mashed potatoes were creamy. It also comes with cranberries. (he hates cranberries) Unfortunately this yummy dish will only be served in Thanksgiving. I have yet to have a bad meal. If you're stopping in ask to be seated in Donna's area. She is not only friendly and courteous but always pleasant to talk with. She greets you with a smile ( mask is on but you see the twinkle in her eyes) directs you to the day's specials on the board and answers any questions you might have. She checks on you throughout your entire time you're seated as we have yet to be approached by the manager working each time we've been dining. Most meals are exceedingly more portioned than what you could eat and that goes for the awesome warm apple cobbler with a dip of ice cream and whip cream on top! It is such a large portion after you've had a very filling meal that she brings 2 spoons out so your desert can be shared! All in all you'll have a great and friendly meal and service and definitely will want to come again. Remember you get what you pay for and that goes without saying great service deserves great tips! Each of the four times I went to Metro D in the Cape it got worse & the crowds have dwindled. The chicken pot pie or waffles are great but every time the waitress takes my order on the iPad it ended up with the wrong order, missing sides or food that comes with the meal. I've had to wait for beverages, sauce, sides and 20 min for a reorder. Food was some times cold. The bussers clear tables and bring the food (gross) and when it's wrong (like all four times) you wait for the waitress to come by. You see the manager run around quickly but its the same experience. The cooks look younger too. It's clean but the floor is super slippery. read more

I ordered their western omelet and took a couple bites. I couldn't eat it, it just tasted off...left a bad taste in my mouth! Eggs were not seasoned at all. The veggies and ham was just a bitter tasting watery mixture sitting on the plate with the egg on top I just couldn't eat it. My husband said just to take it home that he would eat it later. Wasn't until I got home and realized that my omelette had NO CHEESE!! That's probably part of the reason it tasted so bad. My hash browns were cold, and so was my toasted english muffin after waiting for my butter. I've ordered the Western Omelette at IHOP, Perkins, and Bob Evans and it was so much better!! Rating would be 1 but my husband likes their chicken parm. The first thing that hits you is the smell. Because it has an open cook line you have a whole lot of sweet and savory smells mixing together. Not an appetizing smell. Tonight I ordered to-go meals. I ordered the kids chicken tender meal that is $4.99. When I got there to pick it up they had charged me for the adult meal. The waitress said she would fix it. She handed the plastic box to the Cook behind the line (5ft away from where I am standing) and said "throw away the french fries this is supposed to be a kids meal." The cook took the chicken tenders out of the plastic box with one hand threw the fries out and then picked up a white cleaning rag and started wiping out the plastic container. Just as he was getting ready to put the chicken tenders back into the box, I yelled out " you are not using a cleaning rag on my to-go box?!?!" I suppose he was wiping French Fry grease off the bottom of the container. When he realised I saw him, he threw the box away and got a new one. The cook standing next to him did not say a word, did not offer an apology, nor did the one actually doing it. I'm around F&B all the time and I can tolerate a lot, but that was gross. I rarely eat at the same restaurant twice in one week but we just couldn't help ourselves! My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we visited the restaurant. It was very busy for a Tuesday lunch which I noticed quickly and took as a good sign. I had one of the all day every day mimosas and was not disappointed. I also had biscuits and gravy and my husband got a meat omelet. Our server was very nice. First time was great, second time was phenomenal! Our servers name was Zuley and not only was she attentive and pleasant, but also extremely knowledgeable and helpful to us. We enjoyed talking to her very much. Ask for her next time you dine in! We sure will be! Also, I've never had chicken and waffles and there recipe is amazing! Zuley made a hot sauce and syrup sauce for my husbands chicken table side which was surprisingly good. Good meal overall but runniest eggs this side of Cape Coral. Asked for eggs over medium (not an uncommon request) and received eggs over super easy. Sent back and next round was essentially an omelet. Brown, hard, and yolk was cracked. Over Medium Instructions: turn egg over only once, then use your spatula to tap the yolk until it reaches medium consistency (not runny) . This can't be at the highest heat setting, which is challenging for their diner on a busy day. Still, even the bowling alley on Santa Barbara can cook this to perfection every time on a busy Saturday morning. We did enjoy the San Francisco Benedict and the biscuits with sausage gravy.
