My wife and I tried this place shortly after they opened and the prices seemed fair enough and affordable for most people, but the food was also in that meh mid-range quality. I will say they were super busy and every new business has trouble handling the rush when first opening, but it wasn't the best first impression. We may try it again to give them a second chance and see if they have settled in to their groove now that they have been open for several months. A chance encounter on the beach in Captiva brought us here. We met the owner Kelly and her daughter while parasailing. Kelly invited us to her diner for breakfast. We had extra time on our last vacation day, so we made the trip to Cape Coral to check it out. IT WAS WORTH THE TRIP!!! The service was friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious! Another great dinner at Metro Diner. If you haven' tried it yet you are missing a great experience

The 5 star rating is an overall rating. I eat here often, at least once or twice a week, considering I live quite a distance. The food is always excellent. Where ratings decline is usually due to service. It can be excellent or nonexistent. The inconsistency can be a negative. This Sunday I came in for the highly recommended eggs Benedict. I was seated, and waited. Another waitress asked if I had been waited on, I said no, and she took my order. She immediately came back to me and said I was in Bob's section but she relayed my order to him. A table of six was then seated next to my table. Bob greeted them, took and served drink orders, served them, then took their meal orders. Their first course was served and I had yet to be greeted by Bob. The waitress who did take my order for Bob noticed I had nothing on my table and said she would check with Bob. A few minutes later Bob appeared the the adjoining table's food and dropped off my mimosa. Another staff delivered my order, asked if I needed anything else. Bob then appeared and asked f everything was ok. I said I had just received my food. I finished my drink and would have liked another one but I never saw Bob again until I asked for the check. I left Bob a $.50 tip. Please don't let you service staff ruin your wonderful restaurant. read more

Our party of four was very disappointed in the food at Metro Diner. The outside of the new building is attractive as is the inside, and we were intrigued with the menu items advertised on the building. We thought it sounded like we could expect tasty, home-cooked, down-to-earth food. Two of us ordered the meatloaf platter. The meatloaf was dry and over-cooked and the gravy was not appetizing in appearance or in taste. We were served our appetizers individually, with one chili order forgotten. When it was delivered our hot food came out soon afterwards. Not good timing. Most of the strawberries on the entree salad were mushy and unattractive. They should not have been used. Really wanted to like this place!! But we won't be back. read more

Wow! Charlestown Shrimp and Grits are amazing! Who ever heard of strawberry butter? They did and put it on the waffles for the best chicken and waffles ever! Turkey pot pie (small) is enough for two (trust me) sane with the small portion of biscuits and gravy :p The servers are fantastic... have great attitudes and the food came out so fast! Seriously y'all... the place was packed and we got our food within maybe 10 min? Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu :) read more

Wonderful diner that serves traditional typical diner food with culinary flair. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day and have daily blackboard specials posted. $2.99 Bloody Marys and Mimosas all day are plus, served by a friendly staff that have a genuine concern for the guest. Had breakfast at the Metro Diner. An omelet with onions and peppers. Good thing I live close by. I spent the next hour in the bathroom. The peppers and onions tasted like they were frozen and old. I did not eat half of the omlet. The hash browns were ok. I heard so many great things about this place. There are too many other great places in the Cape and Fort Myers to choose from. The service was friendly, but we had to wait a while for our check. I definitely will not be back or recommend to my friends. read more

The food was good. I had Chicken Pot Pie - delicious and recommended. My hubby had the fish & chips. Large portion of fish. Took most food home for another meal. I ordered a white sangria and hubby ordered bloody mary. Waitress brought drinks and spilled one on my hubby. She apologized for the accident and said I owe you and will take care of this. Manager even came over to see if everything was alright after the accident. We were fine. We got receipt and nothing was comped for the accident. I asked why not? Tried out the new diner that opened this week. Place was filled to capacity but we were seated at a booth in a few minutes. Looked over menu and while I was really in the mood for chicken and waffles I chose the Fried Chicken Plate instead $15.49 for half chicken mashed potatoes and pan sautéed zucchini. My girl opted for regular Chicken Pot Pie. Beer was $3.49 a bottle for domestics another 50 cents got import. Mimosas were $4.99. Food arrived quickly and for me my first bite into the leg was pure heaven Crispy juicy tender chicken just like Momma used to make. Wing was just as good then came the thigh right away the color was different much darker and unfortunately way over done what should be the most moist and flavorful piece of chicken was dry and tough. Same thing on the breast very disappointing. I will hope it's just opening week learned by curve. However if Fried Chicken is your number one seller you had better get it right. Mashed potato and veggie nothing special , Biscuit was very good. Pot pie was flakey crust small pieces of chicken large portion I would rate it about a six. All in all a little pricy on the Fried Chicken but worth the price if they get it right. Tonight they did not! read more

Amazing. First time here. Previous reviews accepted I don't agree. We arrived noon on a Sunday and were promptly seated. Waitress uses an iPad to order right from the table. Food arrived so fast it was like they knew we were coming. We were so excited by the menu we over ordered and then over ate. Corned beef hash was great. Big pancake good and sausage gravy and biscuits great as well. We will be regulars. read more

food choices are wonderful , food is good . bit pricey. servings could be a bit larger but not small . good for a quick lunch. dinner, I would go elsewhere. but you mus try the waffles with strawberry butter, which they do not offer with breakfast, but you can ask to substitute your pancake for one waffle. with the butter xtra on side. chicken and waffles are the best here, again, they need to pick up the portions and offer those waffles at breakfast with that butter compote. or i would of given it 5 stars read more

Great atmosphere, wonderful service and happy ppl. 3 Bc the caloric amount on these dishes is out of control extreme.... some of which would be so simple to drop 200cal or more off just by eliminating an ingredient. Like the crab cake Benny's (which were amazing btw) but they are 900cal!! How!? Why! When they arrived to the table I noticed they had put the pan fried crab deliciousness on-top of an English muffin....well right there you can get rid of 120 Cals by ditching the muffin and using the crab cake as the "muffin" maybe add a fried green tomato or a little chutney then your poached egg. ‍Regardless the food was delicious and my children devoured all of their children's meals. read more

2/28/20, Friday, 7:45pm, Ordered three items online for delivery. Chopped Chicken Salad... There were EXACTLY three thumbnail size pieces of chicken with a half filed container of bagged salad. I'm not making this up, it was half a container! THIRTEEN DOLLARS? REALLY? Highly disappointed, I jumped into the car and drove across town to express my disappointment to the "Manager". I hand the box to the "Manager" who proceeded to stick his index finger into the greens and point out that there was a sufficient amount of poultry in his expert opinion. I disagreed and requested the return of my money. At no time did he offer to fix the problem. He addressed himself only as "The Manager" with no name attached. There was no apology. He threw the box into a small trash can located behind the register near the front door and walked away without saying a word. He did this clearly within my view to express his distain. He returned a couple of minutes later with two fives and three ones, handing them to me and then walking off. Again, not saying a word. There is always an endless supply unsuspecting tourists victim walking through the door. I'm a local guy. I own a house here in Cape Coral. I eat at least four meals a week out here in the Cape. I won't be returning to The Metro Diner. read more

Metro diner is great addition to Cape Coral. Went Friday night with the family and had the meatloaf it was delicious. Our server Jamie was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back often. The service is excellent! However my fried chicken and waffles were way too cooked and when I looked into it, it was cold on the inside. I stopped eating it, asked for a refund, and not only did I get my refund, I was provided with a free fresh round of Chicken+waffles, and this time, was top notch! Thank you Metro! read more

This was the best meal we've had since we've visited Cape Coral. We are from Long Island, New York and have access to a lot of fine dining. My husband had the chicken tender platter. I know its not the most exciting dish to order but the chicken was so moist, chunks of fresh white meat (not frozen chicken tenders) and the breading was so light and not greasy. I had a simple Belgium waffle. Delicious and light. The rest of the menu looks interesting and creative. We were greeted with the most pleasant staff. Our waiter looked like he could be in the movies. The atmosphere was cute, clean and updated. Such a pleasant experience. We will definitely be bringing our friends and family back. read more

We will start with the good points. The place is clean and the staff are all super friendly. The menu is not huge but still has many options for breakfast and lunch. My wife ordered a bunless burger and a side salad. She raved that it was one of the better burgers she's had recently. The garlic aioli was very well done. Just the right amount of garlic to not overpower. Salad was large for a side and fresh. Now to the disappointing part. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich (chicken tenders) with fries. The fries were stale and tasted as though they had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. The same exact thing can be said for the chicken tenders. Dry, stale and lukewarm at best. Our order came out insanely fast which confirms the fact that the tenders and fries are made in bulk and are just waiting to be ordered. We also had to wait until we were almost done eating to have napkins brought out to the table. I will probably give them another chance since my wife did enjoy her lunch. read more

This is a brand new built facility so it's spotless & everything is new inside which is nice. Food was brought out swiftly & was good solid diner food.
