My favorite brunch place in the Cape. It isn't cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. I was a little upset that the sweet tea wasn't free refills and the server didn't mention that to me she just kind of brought me another one. But that's the only complaint I would have. Since the Covid shut down has forced the hotel to only serve to-go breakfasts in a bag, we walked across the street from our Holiday Inn express and found Market Diner. So glad we did! The eggs were perfect, bacon crispy, and everything was just as good or better than I would've made at home! They even made my husband an egg white omelette which was not on the menu... they went above and beyond for us. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast. Where do I begin? In the past we really enjoyed this place but the last 2 visits very disappointing. Last night we went in, not too many no people. I ordered a sandwich with a side of mayo, my husband ordered seafood platter and we got appetizer of cheese fries. Food was brought out - no appetizer, no mayo, no cocktail sauce for shrimp. We ask Rusty ( the server) where our appetizer was that he even at the beginning if we wanted before our dinner and obviously by his look he forgot it. We get it 10 mn later no ranch dressing! Rusty could care less. He had the nerve to ask if we wanted a box for the cheese fries???? Are you kidding me?. We will never go back here. $2.00 to cross bridge and a huge disappointment. read more

We have been here for breakfast several times. We have had great food and service. Most of the time we didn't have to wait very long to get seated. Once my husband asked for eggs over easy and they came out hard. They were quick to fix the issue. I had an issue with hard grits, the bottom of the pan. I have wanted to try this place for a while now. It is always busy in the morning so I stopped in one afternoon. I was immediately greeted by the friendly waitress. The restaurant was clean. I had the Breakfast Pie and hash browns. My daughter had the Cinnamon pancakes and home fries (which I sampled). The Breakfast Pie is a "Metro Diner Original". It was fair. Basically it's egg, peppers, onions, mushrooms and potatoes in a little bowl cover with wayyyyyyy tooooo much cheese. I love cheese! Who doesn't? I don't like my food disappearing underneath it. There was more cheese than anything else. It should've been called the Cheese Pie. My daughter's cinnamon pancakes were sweet and cinnamon-y but not dense like a pancake should be. The two pancakes had a lot of holes in them and very airy. Not sure if that's how they were supposed to be, but they kinda tasted like I was eating a piece of cinnamon bread than a pancake. The hash browns and home fries tasted like every other hash brown or home fries you'd get from Bob Evans or Denny's. Not special. Not seasoned. Not fantastic. I gotta say I expected more out of this place. Now I'm sure breakfast is much better but we had the meatloaf and fish fry. The meatloaf was decent very oniony. The fish fry was just eh edible. We didn't get any sauce to dip it in, we had to ask for cocktail sauce. Then when we left I realized I was never given my Caesar salad I had ordered. It's cheap food, so if you're on a tight budget you can feed people for 10$ each. The server was pleasant just seemed very busy but the place wasn't packed so I don't know why the missed opportunities. read more

Omg ! Chicken and Waffles!! Waffles are topped with a strawberry butter dollop and you are getting 1/2 or a fried chicken. Yes - breast, thigh, drum and wing. The waiter came around and prepped a hot and spiced sauce - hot sauce and maple syrup that is delicious ! The chicken is good either way. The waffles were fluffy and over all it was amazing. 16 bucks for the meal but it's worth it. The picture was my box to go because I couldn't finish it but I also could pass up the chance to enjoy this meal. My LO had the kids platter and she ate everything which she hardly does. read more

I've been to this establishment quite a few times as a lee county native. Food is okay. Typical American style diner food not worth a hype. We've tried going here for dinner a few times and the place is closed early before their mentioned closing time. It's quite annoying. My mother & I wanted some good comfort food since it was rainy Sunday. So we looked on the site and it said "OPEN NO WAITING TIME". So we made way over there only to find out THEY CLOSED EARLY at 2:30 in the afternoon. Ridiculous. So we googled the nearest burger joint, and found honestly the best restaurant we've eaten at in a very long time called The Spot, just a few minutes down the road. Save your time, go to The Spot instead of Metro. read more

This was my first time to the Metro Diner and I wasn't disappointed! The menu was really diverse from all day breakfast, burgers, soups, salad, sandwiches, and dinners making it hard to choose! The Ruben was the best I've had in the Fort Myers/ Cape Coral ! The corned beef was lean and a great serving size on delicious rye bread! Had the onion rings and they were also the best I've had in years! Light, crispy, delicious, non greasy batter. Friends had French dip, chicken pot pie and chicken salad and everyone thought their food was great! It all came out timely and hot. Our waitress, Zuleida was awesome. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and absolutely loved the dish. My pancakes were good as well, but the crispy hash browns were my favorite...like shoestring potatoes. The best part of our visit was our waitress "Zulu" whom was the absolute best. She was very attentive, kind and friendly. We had no wait for a table, waitress (Zulu or Zule) was quick to greet us. Nice place and clean. Can't say enough good about the waitress in fact all the wait staff were friendly. The problem is more from the kitchen. I ordered my eggs over medium and bacon well, what I got were runny eggs and under cooked bacon. My husband ordered the same eggs over medium and bacon well. He got scrambled eggs and yes again under cooked bacon. We had a time issue so he ate what was put in front of him. The only creamer for coffee was the fake stuff, they don't have real 1/2 & 1/2.
