First, the service is good. The food? For me? No. We went twice 1 week apart. 1st time I had the pot pie. It was bland and I realized I don't care for the biscuit topping. 2nd time I ordered eggs, bacon, fries and toast. This one sealed the deal. The fries were warm at best. Fries!!! I asked if they pre-make them and keep them warm and they stated no. The toast? Butter didn't melt... again. Luke warm. Eggs n bacon were good although bacon was yup not hot. I ordered the chicken and waffles - a meal they're known for - and it was the best meal I've had in a very long time! Their fried chicken is indeed some of the best I've ever had and the waffles are perfectly baked. We love this place. There aren't many diners in the area, and the ones that are around are pretty small. The food is great, except my French toast was completely saturated to the point of French toast soup which is the only reason I didn't not give the resturant 5 stars. The staff is friendly, though it's hit and miss on whether or not you will have a server who is going to be reliable and not leave you hanging. We have been there a few times and have felt forgotten by our server, which at times is frustrating. But al the other food is good and they regularly change their specials, which means you can always try something new! read more

We have been intending to try this place now for months but it's so low profile that even though we ride right by it some days, we don't notice it - but today we found our way and it was great. We had breakfast, were seated quickly, not too crowded at 9:30am and were waited on promptly - like that they brought us water without asking - everything was delicious from the coffee to the meal - My wife had the Bissell breakfast and I had the Corned Beef Hash w/poached eggs - the biscuit I substituted for toast was very good, moist and large - and the grits were the best I have ever eaten and that is a lot of grits - very creamy and seasoned well. Corned beef was delicious, close to the type you get in NYC and that is the real deal. Portions were ample, we both left stuffed - I doubt either one of us could have eaten another bite. Oh my goodness the chicken and waffles here are so incredibly good! I don't know why no one in the area wants to do REAL chicken and waffles with bone-in chicken. But this place does and oh my God they do it right. The chicken is crispy and flavorful and the waffles are crunchy on the outside and soft and malty on the inside. That's the only thing I've ever had from here and I'm fine with that. It's going to take awhile before I'm willing to order something else because I just love this dish so much. The waiter that we had was really nice and the place seems clean. We came on a weeknight so it wasn't crowded at all. What a great place to have in Fredericksburg! It was our first time and I could not be happier with the cleanliness, service, food portions, prices and Gigi, our waitress. She is a happy happy person and a fabulous waitress. I love her vibrant personality. She made it a wonderful experience. Being that it was our first time, she thoroughly explained the menu and her favorites, I love when they go above and beyond. I even asked her to grab the manager for me so that I could tell him how wonderful she was. The food was phenomenal. My daughter got the kids meal and it came with 6 pancakes! She loved it. For a diner I was expecting something maybe a little more rusty but I was pleasantly surprised by the look. So for the omelette. It was light, fluffy, and creamy. It was oozing flavor inside with the delicious filling. I got it with a side of a biscuit and hash brown. The biscuit was okay but the hash browns were delicious. They were crunchy, flavored, and cheesy. Amazing. The waffles and the pancake were both just seriously what dreams are made of. 1st time coming here and it was great. Chris was my server and he was training a new server as well. They both were friendly and provided excellent service. The restuarant was clean and had a welcoming atmosphere. Our order was perfect. They did not miss or forget anything. And the food was fresh and hot. They also give you REAL maple syrup. Came here on a Saturday around 3pm and was seated immediately. We tried the cinnamon roll pancake shareable and the cheesy tater tots appetizer. Both were very good! The paper place mats advertised the pancake shareable, avocado toast, and some sort of beef with gravy but these items weren't on the actual menu. The cinnamon roll pancakes were on the menu but only as a full entree. The tator tots are bigger than normal and have a cheese center (there is no cheese sauce on top). They did not need the ranch sauce. The cinnamon roll pancakes came with pieces of chopped nuts (don't remember what kind). I had the regular size chicken pot pie. It was good but for some reason I was expecting a thicker crust made out of biscuits. It was a thin biscuit crust. There wasn't a lot of chicken in the pie but good amount of veggies. Towards the end of the meal when the pie was cooled, I could tell there was lots of fat in the sauce but I suppose that is not a surprise at a diner. The boyfriend ordered the corn waffles with mac and cheese and bbq pulled pork. He was very happy with his meal. The corn waffles were interesting and hearty. The mac and cheese was delicious. We both could not finish our meals and took half of our entrees home. Would come back here again but not too often because I want my pants to fit. read more
