Warm food as best. We will not go back Tito's is our new favorite. Food served is always hot.

Yuck. I am torn on the star rating to give. I truly think it deserves just 1 Star, but the manager's willingness to quickly remove my food items from our check and his offer (I declined) to make me a fresh meal, makes me not want to completely knock this place. 2 stars it is. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so a decent crowd, but no wait. The place is very noisy and we disagree with other reviews stating how clean the place is. I was actually surprised how unclean and Uninviting it felt for how new it still is. Hotstess promptly greeted and seated us. We were sat at the table right by the kitchen counter, in the middle of the restaurant. Oh well. Server arrived within 5 minutes. He seemed like a nice enough person, but sheesh, zero menu knowledge and he so awkward in such a way that made us feel uncomfortable. The kitchen counter seating was full of staff on break, eating and hanging out. One server had brought food from Cook Out, which she was eating at the counter. Staff took forever to clear empty tables, so every time a table got up, we got to stare at dirty dishes and wadded napkins for quite some time. We also noticed several people with that lost look on their faces as they waited for their servers to bring them checks. So, the food. I couldn't make up my mind and ordered sides so we could sample several items: biscuits, sausage gravy, cheesy grits and corned beef hash. Husband got the Crab Cake Benedict with a side of the advertised Shredded hash browns. Food arrived fairly quickly. The 2 biscuits were flat, brown, hard and cold. I had a nibble. Zero flavor. The sausage gravy had the consistency of glue-y jello with minuscule flecks of sausage dotted in. Again, no seasoning or flavor. The cheesy grits had just one layer of over cooked cheese on top; once that was peeled back - soupy, watery grits with zero cheese inside - had a sip of these grits and I believe there was zero salt, pepper or butter. Just white grit water. The corned beef hash also lacked any seasoning. It was a plate of crispy burned finely chopped corned beef and some smooshy diced potatoes. Couldn't find onion, salt, pepper or anything in this dish to add flavor. I had a bite and pushed it aside. I forced husband to try each item and he was like WTH , those are all horrible! I tried his shredded hash browns, they were pale and greasy, no crispness, flavor or color. Had a taste of the hollandaise. It was coldish and greasy/separating. The server appeared about 10 minutes later and I actually told him all my food was bad. He mumbled something and a manager showed up a few minutes later. He offered to make something new for me or remove from check. Didn't seem interested in why I thought the food was so bad, though. I accepted his offer to remove items from check. My husband bravely cleaned his plate and told me he didn't want to complain, too, but that it wasn't good. After the inedible items were removed from our check, our total for just the crab Benedict, a soda and a coffe, before tip, was just under $20 I wasn't going to bother with a review, but the kicker: About an hour after we left, my husband started cramping terribly. Was able to get home, where he spent the reminder of his afternoon on the toilet. Absolutely no reason to return to a place that is dirty, noisy, truly horrible food and food that makes you sit on the potty after Your meal. read more

We keep coming back! I order different things each time and everything is great! I love sitting at the bar and watching them prep the food. The food is always fresh and the service is always friendly. We go on the weekend for lunch and there is always a wait. FYI-They don't use the online wait as Yelp suggests. My faves right now are the chicken tender salad and the fruity waffle. Surprisingly I don't really enjoy their bacon. (I am a total bacon snob though.) Their sausage is super tasty though! I don't really get "dinner" items but they look good when I see them prepped. Highly recommend!! read more

I've been to Metro Diner a few times and I can say the service is always amazing. Not only is the service is amazing but the food following makes it even better. One thing I always look forward to while dining here are the specials. I always have at least one dish from their specials that day. Today, I had the Blueberry waffle with cheesecake filling, the steak scramble bowl and the Chirozo burger. (Don't know if I spelled that right) All three dishes were good! It also didn't take long for the food to come out and with COVID, everyone was seated 6ft apart, I'm pretty sure. I've only been here for breakfast or brunch but I'm pretty sure dinner is amazing as well. read more

Saturday night in Fredericksburg: try to find a place that's not crowded or lousy. Then you find the Metro Diner. Great food, reasonable price, good service. I had the Chicken Pot Pie and it was a great value, plenty of well-cooked food for the price. While I was there several families came in and seating was abundant. I highly recommend this place if you're tired of the chain-restaurant crush. read more

Such a pleasant surprise on a road trip from NJ to SC! The chicken and waffles with STRAWBERRY butter was delicious! The chicken breast was so juicy and wonderful Belgian waffle. The strawberry butter with pieces of strawberry was so good you didn't even need syrup. Wonderful service from the host to the waitress - quick, efficient and friendly. Today was our first visit and we were immediately greeted by a great host, Alan (Al). His smile and customer service upon entering the restaurant was so welcoming. First impressions are always important and he left a lasting impression with us. The restaurant and restroom was clean. I ordered a western omelet with hash browns and it was so filling and delicious! My husband who doesn't eat potatoes was able to substitute his side of hash browns for bacon. We have been to a lot of restaurants and they refuse to allow you to do that. At metro diner they do a good job at working with you to satisfy exactly what you want for breakfast. It means a lot especially when you have diet restrictions. Our server Antione was so friendly and helpful with recommending specials and good food items. We definitely will be returning. It was pretty good comfort food! Breakfast can be served anytime, too! I had the salad with grilled chicken over it... Delicious, but it was a tiny bit on salty side. So don't add salt... We also had a cup of Chile, which was tasty ! My friend had the Western Omelet which he said was great. For dessert with split two pancakes, equally tasty! Fridays are a bit busy, so be prepared to wait. Dinner for two about 40.00 with 20% + tip that we gave because our waitress was fantastic! We will definitely go back! read more

My boyfriend and I ordered a lot! -broccoli cheddar soup - delicious Chicken and waffles - good Biscuits and gravy - very bland Scrambled eggs - also unseasoned Bacon - good Home fries - delicious Most of it was good, the service was decent. The food didn't take too long to get to us. The biscuits and gravy was awfully bland, I tried adding salt and pepper but it didn't get better. I was really disappointed because, that's what I had my mouth set on before I'd arrived. When I asked the waitress to send it back I was very displeased with the way they handled the pricing. Instead of just comping me for the biscuits and gravy meal which came with eggs and home fries they broke it down so I had to pay for it bit by bit which makes it more expensive that way. For that reason alone, I would not return! read more

I have been trying different restaurants, chain and mom and pop alike and have been disappointed with some aspect of the service, food, or both. Metro Diner provided only complete satisfaction. Right from the get go with the prompt seating in a cozy booth I actually felt like I made a good choice in restaurant. Our servercame and attended to us quickly after being seated. I believe her name was Mariah and she was just absolutley excellent. Top notch vest service I've had in such a long time. I wound come back for her alone. Her service was so good it ultimately put me in a good mood. The food was excellent and arrived quickly. My friend had gotten the grits, which were REAL and not instant watery mush. The hash browns were also done quite well. Crisp and fried like they should be, not soggy and not fried like a potato chip. I could easily find this place to be my regular haunt. The only "issues" I had were actually non issue. The menu is in the smaller side and I'd love to see a greater selection and the omelette while delicious could have gotten some garnish for simple visual appeal alone. read more

Tried Metro again on July 25th. Food was great. I had the chicken and waffles and I really enjoyed them. You get 4 pieces of chicken (breast, thigh, leg and wing) with a whole waffles and a great tasting strawberry butter, delicious. This time around though server wasn't all that great. Honestly no personality, took 10 minuets to greet us and only return to drop off check before we were done eating. I figured she was having a bad day. Even my daughter and niece commented on service. I left her a nice tip hoping she would snap out of her funk and treat the next customers like guests. read more

I was disappointed by this breakfast. Our waitress was great, at first. Then, she kind of disappeared. We had to get someone else to bring more coffee and fix the food problems. I can with my sister. We both ordered coffees, looked over the menu, excited, and ordered food. My sister got biscuits and gravy, bacon, and potatoes. Her potatoes were cold. The gravy was runny and flavorless. I got the veggie omelet with an English muffin and fruit. They brought toast and had to switch that out. The omelet was missing asparagus, and it was not even warm. This was just too many problems for one meal. Might give it another shot, I'm not sure. read more

The group I was going to eat with arrived early and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. It wasn't so bad because it was packed for brunch/lunch time. I ordered the mimosa which was very good, you can't really mess up a mimosa too badly. I then got the eggs Benedict for my brunch meal and it was delicious. The eggs were perfectly runny and there was a surplus of hollandaise sauce. I like a lot on my meal, but if you just like a drizzle I suppose you could ask for light sauce. The only flaw was my cousin didn't get her burger when everyone else got their food the waitress either forgot to put it in or it just got overlooked, it happens I understand. The man from the kitchen came and he rectified it very quickly and didn't charge her for the meal. It was also very reasonably priced for as much as you got too. read more

Came here for a spontaneous lunch with a large group of 10 without calling ahead and they were able to accommodate us very quickly. After we were seated, our waitress was prompt and courteous. Some members of our party had dietary restrictions, and she was happy to work around the menu to customize their order. I got the San Francisco Benedict which has Canadian bacon, avocado, and tomato in addition to the poached egg, English muffin, and hollandaise sauce with a side of hash browns. The egg was cooked perfectly and it was a good portion size. With such a large group, I anticipated there would be a few errors, but our waitress was more than happy to quickly resolve any mistakes in our orders. She was so attentive, fast, and accommodating - I wish I could remember her name to give her a shoutout. One of the signature items on their menu is the chicken and waffles which I am 100% going back to try. You can get it with regular fried chicken or chicken strips (that are more the size of cutlets than actual strips) and served with spicy syrup. I heard great things from people who ordered it and can't wait to try it! read more

Holy crap! Freaking amazing! First off our server ANN was wonderful, second our food was out of this world! I got the biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs, hash browns, and a side of toast. My boyfriend got the Charleston shrimp and grits. Both were seasoned perfectly and the portion sizes were definitely southern comfort style. We both got peach green tea and it was PERFECT! I ordered the poached eggs with corned beef hash. The corned beef hash was the best I've ever had. Real chunks of corned beef with real red potatoes. Nothing out of a can. My wife had the avocado melt with poached eggs. Again, real.chuncks of avocado on whole grain toast. I was SOOO excited when I found out that they were open again! This meant that I could get my meatloaf that I had been waiting so long for. I ordered my meatloaf to go, got home, and dug in! Oh it was so delicious. And then mid bite into my second slice of meatloaf (because they give you healthy portions of food) something stabs me in the gum. After failed attempts of flicking my tongue around trying to loosen the foreign object, I had my fiancee come and dig it out for me. When he showed me what it was my heart broke. I love eating here and they just reopened but I dont like being stabbed by weird, unbendy, spiraly, metal like objects in my meatloaf.
