We ordered a board as an appetizer and waited close to 35 minutes for it before our server realized she never rang it up. We were upset as we wanted something to snack on as we waited for our meal. She offered to quickly have it made, but our food was almost ready and it did not make sense to us anymore at that point. But no other resolution was offered. The food was great, but it took a while to get our food. It didnt seem to be busy, yet they where slow. Im sure if we had our appetizer, we wouldnt have noticed the 45 minute wait. We loved the cheesecake and the mocha cake! Drinks where very nice and strong. Overall, i loved it here. Hopefully next time ill be able to get my board!

It was a really good experience. We started with the baked Brie appetizer and it was delicious ( forgot to photograph that). I'm a vegetarian and love the fried zucchini sandwich but today's lunch special was a spaghetti squash special and it was delicious! I highly recommend it. Hubby had the smash burger and fries and all was good. I had a special cocktail called Blue Eyes something that was very refreshing. Elise gave us very good service and as always, I got a piece of Tropical Cake to go, that will last for days. Other than parking being tough, this is a great place for girls days, lunch with the hubby, etc.

Let me start out by saying we live in the Arlington area of Jacksonville and have visited this Restaurants other locations in San Jose and Hendricks Ave. and both experiences were Very good, but Sat. morning Sept. 5th my wife's birthday we decided to try this restaurant since we were headed out to Orange Park so we decided to try the Roosevelt Mall location. Time was around 9:00am so I anticipated a wait but after 20 minutes we finally were seated. Wife ordered the Chicken n Waffle and I ordered the Steak n Eggs. Server was friendly and polite and took our order fairly quickly. Issue # 1: Coffee was brought to table with no cream Issue # 2: My order was delivered and the toast was barely toasted and No Butter on the toast, I had to ask for butter n Jelly. Issue # 3: Steak n Eggs you would think the server would ask if you want 57 sauce or steak sauce but was never ask so that was another item I had to ask for. Issue # 4: Hash Browns burnt on bottom, did not notice till I took a bite and then checked out the bottom and they were Black Burnt. Issue # 5: Wife's chicken was over fried and Dry, Still edible but you could tell the chicken had been cooked for a while and sat under a heat lamp which I noticed as we were walking out of the restaurant. Now I am not one to frequently complain but when you spend over $35.00 for breakfast you would expect an enjoyable experience and I know your saying well why didn't you just send it all back and demand a new order. Well after the time we spent it was not an option so we just chalked it up as a bad breakfast day and will never go to this location again. It was loud, hectic, and busy as al Metro Diners are and did not want to pitch a bitch so we paid the tab, tipped our server and headed out never to return to this location. I guess it was just our turn to get a bad breakfast. We will stick with The original on Hendricks for a good experience with breakfast from now on. read more

Wow! The Apple really falls far from the tree with this Metro Diner. This one is by far the worse in town. The only thing it has similar to the original on Hendricks Ave, is the name and menu. But the manager at the Roosevelt location is a very rude and brash person that obviously brings his personal problems to his job, because there is no other explanation for how he treated our family today, on father's Day! He actually called my Dad a Jerk, and told him not to come back to eat there again. And all of this because the bread from the sandwich my Dad ordered was moldy and the manager did not want to take it back! My Dad and Mom ended up not eating anything at all on Father's Day lunch, because this manager was so offensive. This is unheard of, the worst customer service I have ever seen! This manager is a lousy leader and treats his employees just as bad as he treats the Metro customers. He is very negative and this Metro diner will continue to suffer while he is working there. We have 5 separate families in the Jax area and none will ever again eat at any Metro diner and we will tell as many of friends and family to stop going as well. read more

I recently had breakfast at Metro Diner, and despite it being packed, my friend and I were seated right away. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with hash browns, a side of bacon, and two eggs over medium. Unfortunately, the eggs were slightly undercooked with some uncooked egg whites, which was a bit of a turn-off. I was also disappointed to find out they were out of the snickerdoodle coffee I wanted and had to settle for their Choco nut flavor, which was just okay. The biscuits and gravy looked different from what I've had at other Metro Diner locations--not sure if they make them from scratch, but it wasn't quite the same. The hash browns had that common issue where asking for crispy results in a crunchy top layer but soggy underneath. On the bright side, the bacon was extra crispy and delicious. The place was clean, and our waitress was attentive and friendly. We timed our visit well because by the time we left, there was a long line of people waiting to be seated. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant after hearing a few people say it was great, but unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the hype. I ordered the meat lovers omelet, and it was pretty disappointing. As you can see in the picture, it was drenched in oil, and they used sausage links inside the omelet instead of crumbled sausage. It had zero seasoning, and even after adding salt and pepper, it still didn't taste right. The veggie omelet wasn't any better. The hash browns were awful--undercooked, bland, and inedible. On the bright side, the avocado toast was delicious, and the waffles were good, especially with the strawberry butter on top. The chicken was just okay. The restaurant had nice outdoor seating, and we sat on the patio, which was a lovely way to enjoy the meal. The place was packed, but the service was friendly and efficient, so that was a plus. I give this place 2 stars because I heard so much rave about it and could'nt wait to eat there. First, I specifically said I didnt want to be seated outside and would wait for a table inside and they seated me outside anyway. Then I order the half portion chicken and waffles. When it came my chicken looked very dark, almost burnt. The plate as a whole looked pretty appetizing until I started to eat. The chicken was cold and yes, so overdone it was dry. My waffle was ice cold and hard as well. Sent the plate back and ordered the meatloaf. Seriously the zuchini was the best part of that dish. The mashed potatoes were just that, mashed potatoes with no salt or butter or flavor. 2 dishes in a row. My hubby's burger was alright though. read more

Great food! But keep in mind that the whole city knows how awesome Metro Diner's food is so there's usually a 20 min. wait - sometimes longer if you go right after church. I had the Fried Chicken and Waffle special and it was fantastic! The portions are large enough to share, too! I'd definitely recommend this place! read more

I ordered the two eggs with bacon and pancakes, plus the sausage and gravy biscuits, and another…read moreplate with eggs, bacon, grits, and hash browns. Everything was fresh, hot, and cooked right. The flavors were on point, and the portions were solid. The drinks were good too. Definitely some of the best breakfast I've had in a minute. I'll be coming back for sure.
