Under a heat lamp in the back, slap two eggs on it and out the door. The chips were burnt, beans the had fallen on the plate were baked on. Really bad, and from Metro Diner? Very unusual, that! I love brunch! And I love some good eggs benedict, so I was really looking forward to eating here as that seems to be their thing! I ordered the San Francisco Benedict with Cheesy grits, and was sorely disappointed. The cheesy grits were standard grits with a "lid" of melted cheddar on top that formed a barrier to my getting in to the grits below. I guess I expected the cheese to be in the grits or at least soft and melted to mix within but no. The benedict was okay but the avocado was not good. There were dark spots in the portions I could see. There is no way the staff that prepared this would have missed this. In my opinion, if it's not good, don't serve it. There was plenty of food so that is plus, I just wish it had been better quality. Service was friendly and fast. If I returned I would probably go for pancakes or waffles, those looked good. read more

I've always wanted to eat at one of the restaurants on DDD, so I was delighted to see Guy Fieri's picture just inside the door. Despite the place being packed, we only waited a few minutes. Our server came almost immediately. After briefly looking at the reviews, I decided to try the meatloaf, and I was not disappointed, it was outstanding! It's definitely melt in your mouth, the mashed potatoes were homemade, and the gravy intensely flavored. I insist the green beans were fresh, but my husband, the former cook say they were most likely frozen. He ordered the fried chicken Benedict. The chicken was wonderful, plenty of hollandaise sauce, on a fresh biscuit. Sadly, the eggs were hard cooked, but they offered to comp it without being asked. Ordered eggs Benedict. My eggs were raw... like unhealthy raw. So when the server offered to recook it, they just took off the raw eggs, that had leaked into everything below, put new eggs on the raw contaminated egg dish.... Absolutely horrible, if I could I would leave a zero star review. After being seated a table was seated after us and the server greeted them first not a big problem something I wouldn't complain about however the big issue is that I ordered a BBQ BACON BURGER and a BLT. The Bbq bacon burger came with the piece of paper that was on the meat patty to keep them separated from one another and the cheese was melted over it I didn't realize until I was a few bites into my burger. The BLT came on a plate with purple lipstick and when the manger came she said it was the strawberry sauce that goes on the ice cream. Strawberry sauce is not purple. read more

Well it looks like a great stop today for breakfast. We were greeted by Alex and in training Wes. Well he looks and sounds like a good fit! Alex explained how the menu works and the special board. So we are off! Quite a yummy menu too. I wasn't that hungry so I just had a ham and egg Sammy with cheese. Wow it was pretty big. I ate half and Bf had other half. It was a bit drippy tho. Bf got a chicken pot pie and it looked awesome with a side salad. The pot pie had two layers of flaky crust. One underneath and one on top!!!!Wish I was hungry today. Love this place. I have had Shepard pie which was very good. Gravy is good tasting almost homemade. I have also had breakfast. Love the bacon, taste like it's just off the farm. The Belgium waffles are soooo good I can't stop thinking about them. My husband has had their burgers. He said taste great, the ground meat taste like it was freshly ground. Fixings, bun, and cheese (maybe cheddar?) made for a mouth watering satisfying burger! The onion rings were crispy and paired well with the burger. Our server, Mike was attentive and pleasant. Great sense of humor. The hostess' attitude was off but we won't that against Mike. (Reason: we tried to give her back an extra menu and she looked at us like "ain't my job" and walked away.) The food was flavorful and plenty. If you walk away hungry it would be your fault. On our way to Amelia island we had planned to stop at crackel barrel but saw a huge billboard with an announcement for this place and wanting to try a new place we decided to check them out. So happy we stumbled on this place, it was packed when we got there on a MONDAY morning with what I assume is the locals from the area since the hostess and servers seemed to recognize and acknowledge every couple that walked in. I had the croissant French toast, not my favorite but it was good, had some eggs and my husband had a steak and eggs bowl and he kept raving about how delicious it was and how the steak was soooo tender. He had me try it, it felt as if I was enjoying a little piece of filet! They had pumpkin waffles and pancakes and hopefully they will have some in a few weeks when we return to the area. I did see they have q cinnamon Roll pancake and I can't wait to go back to enjoy them because they looked amazing. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

Avoid ordering online. We have been going to the Metro Diner for years, as regular customers. Recently, we ordered online as we often do, and arrived at the restaurant at 5:30 to pick it up, as indicated on the website. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed. Our card was charged, and we've been trying for days to get a refund. Every day, there is someone new answering the phone, with a different story and vague promises of a refund. Today, we spoke to Brittany, who explained what happened (floor remodel) and gave us a refund ID, saying it would take 3-5 days to refund. (Quick to charge us, but very slow to refund.) Also, of greater concern, Brittany made it clear she doesn't care if we ever come back. When we said we'd hesitate to order again, she said, well, "have a blessed day" and hung up. If there is this lack of care about customers, I wonder what does on during food prep? We will be staying away. read more

JO had the breakfast burger with hashbrowns on it and fries on the side. The waitress was so nice! She even asked if I wanted his eggs on the side and of course I did! Stopped at the metro diner on our way down to miami. Staff was great and attentive. The food was very good! I've been to another metro diner and this one blew that one out of the water. Definitely their menu has a little bit of everything and even things you wouldn't think of for breakfast. We had the "stuff n waffles" which is basically a stuffing waffle with chicken and yummy goodness! The cinnamon pancakes were AH-MAZing! My husband had a taste and ended up eating half my stack! Lol definitely recommend those. Also had the avocado egg sandwich and this was really good too. For the kiddos their Mac and cheese was good as well but not your traditional "Kraft" they did eat it all. And you they have an option of choosing fruit :) read more

It's in a shopping center and we were kind of suspicious about what we would find, but the reviews seemed solid so we tried it... and are glad we did! First off, super friendly staff. Seated promptly, told the specials, orders were taken, served quickly. I had the chicken and waffles. Glad it was close to lunch because this was a plateful. Hot out of the fryer, a half a fried chicken. No small dry chicken strips with this meal. And they were nice and tender. However, I took a star off because a couple of my pieces of chicken were not quite fully cooked. Also, they prepare their "secret dipping sauce" right at the table in front of you. The waffles had a good flavor with a topping of strawberry butter. A very nice sweet to match to the savory chicken. My husband had the cinnamon roll pancakes which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had some friends looking for a place to eat on Sunday morning and I looked at Yelp and knew right away that THIS Metro Diner had to be as good as the one in Tampa - we were not disappointed at all! Besides having a 35 min wait, but Hey! You get that at all the best places in Sunday morning! It gives us more time to hang out and talk! There was plenty of room for social distancing and when we got seated they were efficient and kind and we got our food in record time! All of our entrees were wonderful and very filling! I had the eggs w/fried chicken on a biscuit Benedict! Mmmmm One friend had the metro club and the other a type of croque monsieur. It was all delicious!
