My guest and I throughly enjoyed what we had and both of us would order again. I had a French dip that was fantastic. My early intention of not eating the whole roll and all the fries went right out the window as I cleaned my plate. Same with my guest nothing left in the plate. We arrived at this location around brunch time and were told there would be a 30 minute wait. 15 minutes later we were seated! We ordered mimosas and were promptly served a cool drink in a chilled glass that didn't spare the Champaign!! I ordered chicken and waffles and hubby ordered shrimp and grits. I was served half a chicken hot, crispy and delicious along with a Belgian waffle topped with their signature strawberry butter. According to the menu, it should have been accompanied by a spicy sweet sauce but what I got was more sweet than I liked so I added a few drops of the hot sauce on the table. My husband has eaten shrimp and grits at quite a few (some high end) restaurants from North Carolina to New Orleans but claimed Metro's version is the best he's ever had. They serve the shrimp in a generous portion of velvety sauce over a slice of deep fried crispy grits. The combination of flavors and textures made it perfect. We are currently trying out our 3rd location of Metro Diner and so far menu, service and quality of food is consistent. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu! read more

When Metro first opened in Palm Coast I was not at all impressed but as time when by the place really grew on me. They really have some of the best staff and management in a local restaurant. The service is always friendly and the food is always delivered to your table quickly and hot. The Reuben here is probably the best in town and probably the area. Not a fan of one then get a burger, especially the signature ones!! This Jacksonville based diner may be all over now but they stay true to the original and hopefully will continue to always be good. read more

A friend and I drove to Pam Coast to have breakfast with friends of ours. The drive was worth it to see them but not really for bfast here. First a waitress was carrying glasses to another table and she had her fingers inside the glasses with the drink in it for her customers to consume. That was red flag 1. Our waitress, I believe her name was Amanda was great doing her best during the peak busy hours. The grits, red flag 2 was soupy and watered down. The kitchen was slow and didn't really pay attention to getting orders our timely. Red flag 3 was the table who came 10 minutes after us and ordered after us were served first and had enough time to almost completely finish eating by the time ours came. The food was ok at best , maybe I am expecting too much . The waitress was nice but was not very attentive for only having 3 tables . It's Father's Day so maybe she is tired from earlier . The turkey dinner did not have dressing and that's standard all across the country . I travel for work and have eaten at diners as far away as Hawaii and had dressing under the turkey . Turkey : it was a processed turkey roll sliced up Dressing : nope because it is not here Potato's : yes they are real red skinned mashed but I don't think there was any butter or milk in them much less basic seasoning of salt and pepper . We also ordered the fried chicken , the bird it's self was pretty dang good . Chicken :Tasty , moist , crust was light and yet heavy enough to hold up to the giant chicken pieces . Mashed potatoes : yucky and a waste of calories . Did not get past two bites Biscuit was over cooked and hard so we don't know what it tasted like . Y'all, I went in a skeptic because there were some negative reviews scattered in. But for real, this place was fantastic! We had Sunday brunch. We had to wait a while for a large party but it was so worth it. The cinnamon roll pancakes were one of the most delicious things I've ever had. The breakfast was wonderful. The servings were enormous. The chicken tenders will so good and the ranch is homemade! The strawberry butter on the waffle was delicious. I would strongly recommend going here. read more

Went here for a late dinner on a work trip. The place was not overly busy and I was seated right away. Was there in the 7:00 hour on a Tuesday. I opted to sit at the counter and watched the cooks as I was a party of one. I don't recommend sitting at the counter if you are at all concerned with the amount of butter/oil is in your food. Grits are not a go to pick for me, but the Charleston Shrimp and Grits caught my eye. It is two fried grit cakes infused with cheese, roasted red peppers and Andouille sausage. Topped with shrimp, sausage, onion and peppers in a shrimp sauce. Garnished with chopped bacon and green onions. I like that this is a nontraditional grit dish with the fried grit cakes. It was delicious when it was piping hot with lots of sausage and shrimp. As the temperature of the dish cooled, it just lost its pop though. The portion was huge. The dish is very rich and I think a smaller portion would be acceptable. The service was good. Overall, I would recommend this place for typical diner food and some options of diner food twists. I give them 4 stars for taking on a traditional southern dish and putting a twist on it. read more

My husband and I regularly frequent the "Wekiva Springs" location. "Only lettuce and tomato with thousand Island dressing on the side" (in a typical new jersey accent). Can you imagine!!! *Ahhhh* Don't even try to go to Olive Garden with my family. We have four different salad bowls for four people! Anyway I switched up my usual chef salad and ordered one of their specialties, the phillly cheesteak, and boy was it so freakin good. The meat was so tender and don't even get me started on the cheese! The portion sizes are so big even my father was happy, and that's no easy feat let me tell ya! My parents both got the french dip, typical. They both enjoyed it, but my mother said it was a little salty. Did I mention she's from Jersey too. Oh Vey! As usual I stole a bite of my daughter's chicken tenders. We always end up throwing half of her meal away anyway, so let me bask in chicken deliciousness. She's two, don't judge me! For four adults and one child it came to $47 without tip thanks to my military 10% discount. My father had a bet that if it was over $50 I would pay. I've been wanting to try Metro Diner since they opened in Tampa but haven't made it over. While on vacation in Palm Coast, we decided to give it a go. It was full of people but not overly loud and had quick service. Specials change daily and sometimes while you're seated so keep checking the chalkboard. Specials included entrees, soups, sweets, alcoholic beverages and a coffee and tea of the day. Our server, Alex (a trainer), was one of the best servers I've ever had. He was quick, friendly and supplied tons of information for our first visit. He helped my husband, notorious for indecision, come up with the perfect order he didn't even know he wanted. The food was all excellent with massive portion sizes. My mother tried the blackened mahi, which was the best fish I've tried in a diner. My dad ordered the creamed chipped beef, which he said was great tasting but there was too much hash brown. He likes crisp hash browns and they were only crisp up on top. My husband ordered I believe the bold burger - a burger with garlic aioli and fried jalapeños. It's one of his favorite burgers he's ever had. He also got a side of biscuits and gravy he and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed since he couldn't decide between breakfast or dinner foods. I ordered a special - the pulled pork mac stack. A full day's worth of calories that was worth the calories. Cornbread waffles topped with maple butter, creamy mac and cheese and delicious bbq pulled pork. So pleased with this order! This place is a new fave, and I hope the Tampa location can match it! If so, it's going to be one of our frequently visited restaurants. read more
