What a charming taco joint! The sign is totally misleading. I wish I gave this place a try before. The inside is decorated in cute prints and colors. Their taco menu is pretty spot on.m and authentic. The tacos range from $1.30ish to $3, and they offer fideo and other classic dishes. The only downer is that their only open until 3 pm on Saturdays. My favorite breakfast taco was the machacado. With a splash of their hot sauce, it was fantastic! Can't wait to go back and order more! I also loved their horchata, which was extra cinnamony and even a little creamy. Definitely give this place a try people. Don't let their signage throw you off. If you're looking for cheap, authentic Mexican food than look no further! The food truly tastes homemade and doesn't take a long time to come out. The restaurant has a really nice and welcoming atmosphere. The host was very helpful when it came to picking out what to order. There are so many good options! Their tortillas are homemade and the carne asada tacos have become a personal staple of mine. They even had some free cookies when I went for Valentine's Day. The tortillas were all very fresh and great tasting! The cheese in the bean and cheese tacos was sharp added great flavor! The tacos al pastor and asada were so fresh and delicious. Stopped in here for the first time on Friday. The place was light and clean, both I take as good signs when trying a restaurant for the first time. I would like to see table side service, I feel a little hurried when ordering from a counter, particularly if there are people behind me. Also, the menu didn't have descriptions of the items which would be nice. There a couple of menu items I wasn't familiar with, like huaraches. Service was prompt and I really enjoyed the salsa, its not chunky and is smoother with a kick. I ordered the chilaquiles with corn tortillas. I liked the tortillas, they were light and flavorful. I don't like heavy tortillas. The portions on the plate were reasonable, they didn't overdo it like some places. Raul the owner was working the register and he was very nice. He answered questions that I had about the menu. I will be going back, next time to try the barbecoa! read more

If you are from west Texas (El Paso) and expect bread with your menudo, this is not the place to get it. I went in and asked them for bread and they said no. They wouldn't even budge and said only tortilla. I did a 180 and walk out of the place. The tacos are okay and that is the only reason I gave them three stars instead of one. read more

Their chorizo reminded me of home and the way my grandma use to make it, which I loved!! A friend of mine had the menudo and gave it an 8 out of 10 (he loves to try menudos from different restaurants). Other than that the beans were ok and same for the potatoes that came with my chorizo plate. I wouldn't rave about he tortillas either. This is my favorite weekend family breakfast place. Pretty authentic delites. My favorite signature dish is chilaquiles tradicionales with chicken breast and green sauce. So after seeing the signs go up a couple months ago the Metro Taco Stop is finally open! Normally I wouldnt get too excited bout a taco place but this one happens to be a stone throw away from my house and if really motivated only a short walk away. So went in with high hopes n a hungry stomach. Place looks great. Very light n airy n clean interior. Met the owner Mr Raul Zamora n staff who were very friendly and seemed excited to finally be open. Apparently theyd been doing s soft opening for the past week or so and will have their grand opening on Friday (11/30) @ 600pm which will include free samples n mariachis. Mr Zamora shared that he got the concept from Mexico City n this is the only one here. I had the chilequiles plate n barbacoa taco and my lady friend had the al pastor tacos. Chilequiles were good. Very cheesy n corn tortilla pieces crispy like i like then. Came with beans n potatos n handmade tortillas. Tortillas were kind of on the thin side n would like to see them a little thicker n fluffier ( like me haha). Barbacoa was good. I like mine with cilantro n onion but had to ask for some which they gladly brought me. Stole one of my friends al pastor tacos. It was very tasty n came with cilantro, fresh lime n fresh pineapple. Friend didnt care for the pineapple sweet contrast with the tacos but i didnt mind. Green salsa was also very good on my food. Coffee was also very fresh n good which is a must. Prices were also very good. Overall pretty good. As for critique: would like to see them offer tableside ordering. A little thicker flour tortilla. Great salsa,why no chips???As for authentic Mexico City style food I didnt see it on my first visit besides the pineapple on the al pastor. (Was expecting more of a "Guajillos 410/Blanco style of food). But will have to see during future visits. Also although being open every day theyre only open 6am-330pm. Hope they will consider extending their hours. So for now, my new neighborhood go to Metro Taco Stop recieves 4 out of 5 forks!! read more

Nothing special about this place ... I don't care how many Latin song you play, doesn't make food good. Food was luke warm when I came out and cheese was like plastic. Salsa ... no flavor ... beans , mediocre...coffee had a metal taste to it, not that great... tortillas... NO!! Obviously from a restaurant distribution place... semi cooked ... almost raw.. come on now! Mmmmm, I just got done eating the best huevos rancheros I think San Antonio has to offer and they were also the cheapest! The sauce was far from bland while not needing to be spicy, which is something I find with most Jalisco places. The tortillas? Best corn tortilla I've ever had. They held together, didn't rip, and tasted fresh (not out of the bulk tortilla package). They had a soft corn taste, not the sharp "why the heck did I get corn" taste that I often encounter. My husband loved his flour tortillas as well. I've never had good papas fritas in SA so I didn't expect them to be good (and they really weren't anything special).
