Mews Tavern is one of my favorite restaurants in RI. I love their expansive menu, draft beer, and the expansive set up of the restaurant. Mews is divided into three parts all with their own feel. Downstairs is the dollar bar which is 21+. The dollar bar is covered in dollar bills and has more of a pub feel to it than the other parts. There isn't a wait list for this part of the restaurant so I always try to come here first! The main tavern is also great, but they can get quite busy on weekends so try and join the Yelp waitlist ahead of time if you can! The food is also very good. They have something for everyone on their expansive menu. From burgers, to pizzas, to rice based bowls your party is sure to find something that everyone will enjoy! read more

Food was excellent and menu choices were phenomenal! So many different things to try and every one of them sounded delicious. A little different for me in that you had to check in downstairs and then walk upstairs to the restaurant. Pretty noticeable signs though to show you where you need to check in. I've been coming here for over 20 years and it's always been consistently good! As a college student, it was a fun spot to go with friends for drinks, and now that I live in town with my family, it's our favorite spot to go with our kids. The menu really has something for everyone, and the portion sizes are great. We always put a calamari app order in right away, and it comes out fast so my kiddos stay happy. The pizzas are always tasty, the burgers are great, and my new favorite are the brisket tacos. The service is fast and friendly, and even on extra busy days (because it's always busy), the wait isn't too long to get a table. A Wakefield staple! read more

Time to update my review and add a star. In town for Oktoberfest, we walked over to Mews. Unsurprisingly, they were slammed. Dining room full, lower level bar packed, waiting area standing room only. I remembered there is an upstairs bar and made a bee line that way. They were empty. We asked someone if they were open, and yes, they are, sit anywhere. Well we arrived just in time because in minutes the entire bar area was packed. Heads up, no one under 21 allowed on this level. There are standard tables, booths, and several group sized high tops with stool seating along with the bar up there. A waitress stopped by in good time with menus and was back in a bit to take a drink order. For dinner we settled on a burger and IMHO, this is one very tasty burger. It has that wood grilled taste, well cooked, fresh toppings, fresh bread. Altogether a nice burger and the reason I am adding a star to my rating. At half a pound of beef, it's a big burger, and for us just the right amount of food to share. Our waitress was able to check in on us even though it looked like she was handling the entire floor herself. She never seemed flustered and was quite good at her job. I am very happy my Mews experience finally improved. read more

Working at the lumber dealer down the street and decided to do lunch here! The tavern here is very cool, decorated in real dollar bills signed by the donor! It was service with a smile as the bartender handled the tables and the bar extremely well. We were never empty! The food was excellent! The burger was custom with caramelized-onions, bacon, lettuce and cheese served with excellent fries. The hot chicken was very good too. Both were very large portions. The quesadillas were very good also. Served with what I assume were homemade chips! This place is definitely a local gem. Plenty of parking in the back too, which is a big plus in Wakefield! read more

I stopped at Mews as part of the 2025 RI Food Fights Burger Blowout event. It was my first time there and the place was packed, so I was looking forward to the experience. It seems like a big place overall and I didn't have to wait long to find a spot at the bar. It was a lively atmosphere given that some people were there for graduation parties which was cool. The staff were friendly and attentive. I ended up getting their pesto burger which was delicious and filling. Other things I saw on the menu looked really good too. Overall I was happy with the experience and I would definitely return when in the area this summer. Highly recommended! read more

This was a pleasant surprise. What some might consider a hole in the wall I considered a great restaurant with friendly staff and ample parking. The restaurant is unique in the sense that they have a family restaurant on one side and over 21 bar/restaurant on the other side. A little confusing to navigate when you walk in but well worth it. We hung out in the bar area and got a pain killer and a take on a peach lemonade, both were strong and delicious! Music was a little loud but it's a bar so whatever. Fried pickles were delicious. This place is a must visit when in town. We were here for a swim meet at URI and stopped in for dinner. The website waiting list was terrific so we knew when to arrive. Despite it being a busy Saturday our service was top notch, our server was fantastic, going out of his way to check in and answer questions about the menu. Since we were first time visitors we even got a $10 coupon for our next visit! Oh, and the food was delicious!! My daughter had the fried pickles which were great and HUGE! She also had HUGE BBQ wings...I mean, the wings themselves were just giant. I had a fantastic chicken tortilla soup and the steak bowl. YUM!! My Dad had the cheese steak which he loved, the bread looked homemade, it came with a huge helping of tator tots. The environment is casual and engaging, more room inside thank you think! We sat in the dining room which I think is called the "tree room," super fun! There are also spaces like the pizza bar, tavern, and more! What a gem! We went after the college tour at URI. The food and service were top excellent. The French Onion soup was so good, and my calamari was one of the best I have ever tasted. My daughter's mac and cheese was very good. If I ever come back to the area, I will definitely stop by this restaurant again. read more

Was looking forward to my favorite 'Goober Burger' at the Mews. The burger came out cooked right but it was super greasy and you could not find the peanut butter on the burger. Which is pretty much what the goober is all about. Peanut butter and egg on a burger. Genius. But no. Just grease. Another member of our party had the same burger and same experience. Good food and good service. We came here after a college visit based on the tour guides recommendation. The wings are battered deep fried and then tossed in sauce. They were very good. My daughter who is a mozzarella stick critic said these triangles were the best she has had and made me order another batch. They had a nice pull and crispy. read more

Mews has such a big reputation in the state of Rhode Island and I live on the other end of the state! I visited once before I was a Yelper, years ago. Don't remember the experience much. I was down the street for a competition with my daughter and we needed dinner so Mews it was. Not a great showing for the standing mews reputation. It was a Saturday night right before 5 and we were seated immediately. Win! we had a private little area to the right of the door where it was themed dogs and had saloon doors. We thought this was a great spot but I think at first they forgot about us! We were there for a good 10 minutes before anyone said hello. Now we had someone who took care of our drinks and another employee who took care of our food. They did not alert us of this system and it was a little confusing. The food guy, good service. Our liquor lady, not a lot of customer service skills. She was off putting- dropped the beer and turned her back. The good: The Bourbon brussels were DELICIOUS!!! Maybe a little too heavy handed with the teriyaki sauce but the flavor- loved it! The blue cheese- certainly made in house and good! Not totally my style but it's way better than the bad blue cheese. The bad: The Bleu burger. I shared and my half had nothing on it. I saw my mother cut it right down the middle. The tiny pieces of lettuce kept slipping leaving me bunless. There was barely anything on it to make it anything more than just a burger. Lacked flavor. Just came home from North Carolina and that southern mac and cheese hit it out of the park. Mews mac and cheese is like 2 steps above Kraft. The Thai Chili Garlic wings... large wings but the sauce was anything but garlicy. They were super sweet. Too sweet and I like sweet. The ugly: My husband ordered a fish sandwich. He immediately commented about how small the piece of fish was and I agree! Then he bit into it and it was over fried that there really wasn't any fish inside the crust. He never returns food but he did! It came off the bill but they didn't bend over backwards to try and make him a happy customer. read more
