I've been going to Mex Cocina for a few years now. It is the best place for breakfast! Chilaquiles and amazing Pozole but the absolute best thing is the Cafe de Olla (or however you spell it) Service is always amazing! The staff greets you and seats you just as quickly as possible. They are very attentive. We go there at least once a month maybe more if we can! We've brought and recommend this place to everyone. What makes this place great is the service. The Chilaquiles Suizos are my personal favorite. My husband likes the red Chilaquiles and their pozole (while its not my moms pozole) it is really good one of the best we've had in a restaurant. Great place to add to your list to try! We were in the area and the restaurant that we had in mind was closed on Tuesday so we were forced to look for another location. Glad we did, because we came across this small but mighty restaurant. They have a variety of non alcoholic drinks and food. Tried the lemonade and strawberry horchata. They also offer cafe de olla so it's on my bucket to come back and try it. For food we ordered the mex enchiladas with cheese, shredded chicken and shreddedand the red costillas de res. They were absolutely delicious! As a Mexican restaurant I expected for them to offer complimentary chips and salsa but here, it comes with a charge. Which we still ordered with a side of guacamole. My friends and I had lunch at Mex Cocina Cafe on Saturday. We arrived around 11:30am, and the private parking lot was mostly full and there was some nearby street parking available. When we checked-in, we waited about 15 minutes for a table, which wasn't too long since it looked like tables and parties were rotating frequently. We sat outdoors, which was a makeshift setup in which we shared a park bench with the party next to us. There were three people in my party, so one of us sat on the bench while the others got the chairs; it was a bit tight, but we made it work. This is something to keep in mind if you need more spacious seating during your dining experience. I ordered an iced Cafe de Olla and Chilaquiles Rojo with machaca. The Cafe de Olla came in a large mug, and it was so refreshing and cinnamon-y. The caffeine hit later and it was strong for me! The Chilaquiles came with beans, rice, salsa, and an egg, and they were all so savory and tasty! The machaca costs extra, but it was worth it as it elevated the dish. My one gripe was that I wish the dish was hotter; it was kind of lukewarm when it arrived to the table, so it seemed like the dish was ready to serve for a while. The staff were nice, and they worked quickly to get our orders and cleared the table when we were done with our meal. Overall, it was a good first experience at Mex Cocina Cafe and I'd return to try more of their menu. read more

They were great about topping off coffee, but I would have rather had my food much sooner. The food was fine. Nothing really special, and my chicken wrap was mostly lettuce and onion. I'd maybe go back and try their Mexican dishes, which looked good, but I certainly wouldn't rush in. We dined on a Sunday morning and leaving at 11:30 am, there were at least 40 people waiting to be seated. Second time coming here and the food was as delicious as I remembered the first time. I went during breakfast hours (9am) but I was craving lunch. Luckily for me they can make any item, didn't matter the time. So I ordered the milanesa torta. Not only was it delicious...it was HUGE! Came here right after work, looking for some good Mexican breakfast. She got the chili rellenos with the cafe de olla. The coffee was absolutely amazing, she said it was one of her favorite ones. With her breakfast, she said it was made exactly how she wanted it and enjoyed the breakfast and hit the spot. I ended up getting the Machaca con huevo, and I thought the meal was pretty bland and needed more flavor to it. She even tried it and said that it wasn't the best ones out there. The smells and flavors of mexico are nearly impossible to achieve elsewhere. It's not only about the spices or following recipes. I eat at Mexcocina frequently enough to recognize the owner. This review is not of the food but of the character. Tonight my wife and I were at the grocery store and the owner of Mexcocina was in front of us. There was an elderly lady in front of him struggling to count coins and small bills to pay for her groceries. You can see that she was short on money. Without hesitation he pulled out his debit card and paid for her groceries. My wife saw him do that and thanked him for his kindness. He didn't do it for recognition but because it was the right thing to do. It says a-lot about his establishment. I will definitely continue to frequent Mexcocina. read more

There's a line! And pretty much worth the wait. Dining outside on a nice day is really nice here too. Cozy and comfy. Wait staff is very friendly as well as the seating host. A couple items that I would highly recommend are the chilaquiles with green sauce, the queso fundido is decent but it does come in an cute cast iron cow, so that made me happy (of course). The claim to fame here is the chilaquiles, so really you can't go wrong! And they were very good! Their beans and rice are fantastic here! I do also like that they serve smaller portions, not as large as some other Mexican restaurants, that being said there is still plenty to take home. As much as I love carnitas, I was disappointed that the carnitas here are not as crispy as I'd expect and hope. Although I've only been here once, I sat with a group of friends and we all tried each others dishes, so I did get quite a good variety and would definitely come back. The only downside during this visit was the carnitas and even though we sat for over an hour, none of our drinks were ever refilled. The place was very busy but we couldn't even track down our server to ask for more water, so that stunk. Could be a one-off though. Not a lot of parking but the nearby neighborhood is a quick walk. I took my wife here because I came to pick up the Mex Cafe De Olla coffee for his party. He called ahead of time so they knew I was coming with the coffee container. I heard of this place before and wanted to take my wife here for breakfast but haven't had the chance yet. It's basically street parking here unless you find a spot in the little plaza it's in. The place has a indoor and outdoor dining area. The food looked delicious and they were pretty busy in the afternoon for a Saturday when I came. The indoor atmosphere is nice but small inside so you're better off sitting outside. My wife wanted to try their strawberry horchata so I put in an order of that as well. The staff are very friendly and my wife along with all the party guest loved the Mexican coffee. My wife said the strawberry horchata was too sweet so she likely will order just the coffee when we go back which we will. read more

We were staying over night in Burbank and wanted to grab breakfast on the way home to San Jose. We found the perfect spot! The food is fresh and tasty. There are also many healthy options such as the Egg whites spinach omelette which I ordered. The buttermilk pancakes were amazing!
