It was the waiter who was cold to us. Even after reminding multiple times and food being served, we were not given cutlery/napkin. She showed ignorance and least bothered to be friendly. The ambiance and vibe were incredible and that was only during the lunch hour, I can imagine how amazing it is during the evening or brunch. We went here for lunch on the second day it opened for my birthday and can't rave enough about the food and service. Mariana was an incredible waitress, she offered recommendations and her warm energy and playful banter was so welcoming. We gave our compliments to the chef via Lindsey when she came to check on us and she actually was able to bring him by so we could do so in person. It was such a pleasure to meet Chef Gustavo and the meals were incredible from the Queso Flameado, marinated shrimp, to the Barbacoa Torta and Beef and Chicken fajitas. The icing on top was the Cuatro Leches cake (chefs kiss!)! We also tried the Grandioso margarita, Skinny margarita and margarita flight which came with a Hibiscus, classic and Spciy watermelon. The drinks were definitely made with love and were refreshing (no premade mix here). 10/10 I definitely recommend this place and we'll be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Mexican Sugar: Delicious food, but the service needs a major overhaul. We visited Mexican Sugar at The Domain for lunch and, honestly, the food was 10/10, but the experience was a struggle. Despite the restaurant being 90% empty at 11:30 AM, our group of three checked in with the male host who asked if we had a reservation, we politely said, no we didn't make a reservation and this is our first time at your restaurant. The host walked us over the bar area and sat us at a cocktail table, not in the empty dining area. We spent most of our 90+ minutes visit flagging down staff. The bartender took our drink orders and we didn't see him again. We had to flag down a random waiter to take our order because the bartender was busy. He was polite and took our orders and offered to refill our drinks. 35+ minutes later, I eventually had to get up find our waiter in the dinning area and ask about our food. At one point, the male hostess walked over to our table and cleared my silverware and napkin before the food had even arrived! I asked him for a replacement and he was not happy about my request. We finished our meals and I had to flag down a different waitress to pay for our food. She found our table order and we paid. I'm a dessert guy and usually take my desserts to go prior to paying. The waitress never asked if we wanted anything else dessert, coffee etc. The Bottom Line: Go for the delicious, scratch-made Latin cuisine and cozy vibes, but pack your patience. Management needs to be onsite paying attention to details in the dining & bar areas, they need to really focus on service, team work, communication and making guests feel welcome. read more

In town for business; flying solo tonight because hubby had meetings. I'd heard good things about this place so I thought I'd give it a try. I arrived during Happy Hour; they weren't very busy yet so they were able to seat me at a small table in the bar area right away. Then I sat there for about 10 minutes before someone brought chips and salsa by. No water. No offer to get a drink started. 10+ more minutes of watching servers pass by without making eye contact or cluster together to watch the World Cup game on the tv in the bar. Servers were checking on other tables that had already been served, but nobody stopped at mine. Perhaps they thought I was waiting for someone to join me? I had just folded up my napkin and placed it on the table to leave when someone wandered over and asked if I needed anything. There was that awkward pause when I had to decide if it was worth staying now that it looked like I might be able to order, or if I should just walk across to True Food. I figured I had put in the time and already knew what I wanted, so I stayed. The arepas appetizer was really good. I added the tortilla soup to that and was pleased with it as well. The meats were of good quality, the produce was fresh, and it was all attractively presented. I also got the white sangria- pretty and refreshing! So, the food and drink were good, but the sheer neglect at the beginning was a mood killer to be honest. Even throughout the meal, I was never really sure who my server was; who was I tipping when I paid? I have no idea. I just didn't feel welcome as a single diner. I'm giving 3 stars for the food, drink, and ambiance, but can't go higher because of the service issues. read more

This is a bomb location ! The restaurant transports me back to Belize. Its so open and i love the dimness and the candles throughout! The vibe is amazing the food is so "elevated" as my lovely waitress Erika pointed out and you can taste the in house freshness of the salsas to the Enchiladas . I had the roasted chicken enchiladas because you cant go wrong with that i wanted to play it safe. Was i amazed! It was super busy but the food came out in a timely manner and the drinks did take a bit but i wasnt even thinking about it because Erika made me feel content, reassured it was coming and that they are shaking away! always took care of my water and she is super funny! I made a reservation on OpenTable to go to Mexican sugar for the first time because they only took reservations. It was my husband's birthday and I figured it would be a nice place for us to go celebrate. We waited at least 10 minutes before anybody even came to our table and another 20 minutes for our drinks. All of the tables that were sat next to us were served we before we were. We didn't enjoy the Spanish mussels. They were fantastic. I want to explain nothing to us. Did not tell us about the food. We ordered the surf and turf fajitas, which came with a tiny maybe half size portion of lobster. When the waiter asked us about dessert I did then again say that it was my husband's birthday and then at that time he said oh that's great. You get a free dessert so we ordered the churros. After about five minutes, a woman came by with a flan and a torch lit a candle and threw it on our table. Didn't even say happy birthday. After we figured that was the free dessert that we were told about we asked to take the churros off of the bill. The food isn't bad at all and the price is reasonable, but the service definitely needs to be worked on. we will not be returning anytime soon or recommending them either read more

This is so sad. After having a very bad experience at the bar, I thought I would not return. However, a buddy of mine wanted to try this place. We sat at the bar for over 7 minutes, before we walked down to the other side of the bar to get a bartenders attention. Honestly, the bartenders were more interested in talking to each other, rather that acknowledging customers waiting to be noticed. How is it even possible that a bartender walks by new customers multiple times and does not even say "hello" or "can I help you". These employees at the bar are so unfriendly. No smiles and they are clearly hating their jobs. Who hired these people and how is a manager like that still employed? I have heard so many negative things regarding this restaurant regarding, the service or the wait time to even get a drink. People will share bad experiences much more that good ones. This is so "Captain Obvious". Is it that hard to say, "I'll be right with you"? Some of the WORST trained staff I have ever seen. NEVER going back!! read more
