My family and I went for Sunday Brunch. The weight was not bad because we did have reservations. The room that we went into was a little cold, but they were very accommodating to adjust the temperature. The food was absolute marvelous the chips and salsa off the chain, I ordered the pork chop breakfast and potatoes, and it was just simply delicious. My sister had the French toast and she said that was good too.m, the pancakes were OK. Service was excellent highly suggest that you go and check them out because it is really good Mexican food. I eat Mexican food all the time so I have high expectations and this felt more Tex mex. We tried the hibiscus margarita- extremely sweet so we had to swap out for the classic one. The ceviche was too fishy. (I know that sounds ridiculous but this is my go to app and it never tastes like this) A big thing to note is the kids menu has a quesadilla. My daughter took a bite and told me in was spicy so she refused to eat it. I took a bite and realized it was pepper jack cheese- to us- not a big deal- to kids- they are more sensitive to anything spicy. It was not advertised on the menu. Over rated, nothing different for Austin. The free salsa they give you with chips at the beginning for free has no spice. When you ask for spicy salsa, you have to pay for it. We walked in on a Saturday night, Mothers Day weekend, the manager & staff did a fabulous job getting us a table for 6 people within a reasonable timeframe even though they were packed! Excellent service and ambiance. We went during Happy Hour, but I'm glad we had a reservation because they were full for the whole night. Ultimately the food was pretty bland. We got the queso flameado, steak fajitas, and a steak, and the meat itself was high quality but nothing was seasoned to the degree you'd expect from Mexican food. The sides (guacamole, rice, beans, pico), were all pretty bland or very subtle flavors. The flan and drinks were the standouts - very good. Overall I had high hopes between the service, ambiance, and price, but those hopes were fully dashed by under seasoned appetizers and mains. read more

Place was busy on their first Saturday night. Had a party of five with reservations for a birthday and sat right away. Food was good. Margaritas were delicious , ordered those immediately but we had to wait almost an hour to get them. Bar was so backed up. Our server Roderick was absolutely amazing, he made up for it with desserts on the house! He was very attentive and fun! The ambiance is great inside and out. A group next to us hired a mariachi band that was great, but they played for WAY too long making it almost impossible to carry a conversation at our table. Will go again tho. The ambiance and vibe were incredible and that was only during the lunch hour, I can imagine how amazing it is during the evening or brunch. We went here for lunch on the second day it opened for my birthday and can't rave enough about the food and service. Mariana was an incredible waitress, she offered recommendations and her warm energy and playful banter was so welcoming. We gave our compliments to the chef via Lindsey when she came to check on us and she actually was able to bring him by so we could do so in person. It was such a pleasure to meet Chef Gustavo and the meals were incredible from the Queso Flameado, marinated shrimp, to the Barbacoa Torta and Beef and Chicken fajitas. The icing on top was the Cuatro Leches cake (chefs kiss!)! We also tried the Grandioso margarita, Skinny margarita and margarita flight which came with a Hibiscus, classic and Spciy watermelon. The drinks were definitely made with love and were refreshing (no premade mix here). 10/10 I definitely recommend this place and we'll be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Mexican Sugar: Delicious food, but the service needs a major overhaul. We visited Mexican Sugar at The Domain for lunch and, honestly, the food was 10/10, but the experience was a struggle. Despite the restaurant being 90% empty at 11:30 AM, our group of three checked in with the male host who asked if we had a reservation, we politely said, no we didn't make a reservation and this is our first time at your restaurant. The host walked us over the bar area and sat us at a cocktail table, not in the empty dining area. We spent most of our 90+ minutes visit flagging down staff. The bartender took our drink orders and we didn't see him again. We had to flag down a random waiter to take our order because the bartender was busy. He was polite and took our orders and offered to refill our drinks. 35+ minutes later, I eventually had to get up find our waiter in the dinning area and ask about our food. At one point, the male hostess walked over to our table and cleared my silverware and napkin before the food had even arrived! I asked him for a replacement and he was not happy about my request. We finished our meals and I had to flag down a different waitress to pay for our food. She found our table order and we paid. I'm a dessert guy and usually take my desserts to go prior to paying. The waitress never asked if we wanted anything else dessert, coffee etc. The Bottom Line: Go for the delicious, scratch-made Latin cuisine and cozy vibes, but pack your patience. Management needs to be onsite paying attention to details in the dining & bar areas, they need to really focus on service, team work, communication and making guests feel welcome. read more
