I ordered the popular chili verde burrito and she warned me that it's spicy hot. It was spicy and it was delicious with the perfect flavoring. It's been about 20 years since the last time I was here and it was as good as i remembered! We had a green chile burrito wet ($13.00). And a red chile burrito wet ($13.00). The green burrito had very tender pork, beans and cheese. It was spicy but not quite as spicy as it used to be. The red burritos was flavorful with beef, beans and cheese but not nearly as spicy as the green. Very Friendly service as well. Great food! Overall rating 4.5. We've been here three times in less than one week. Twice I took food to go, and once we dined in at the counter. JJ's favorite is the red burrito ($7.50). I also tried the spicy green burrito which was also excellent...delicious! These are very flavorful, juicy burritos and serving size is generous. I've also ordered the taquitos especial a la carte ($3.75), which was sufficient for me for a light lunch. Topped with guacasalsa, lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheese. Really good! Mexicatessan has been in the area for decades and has been pretty consistant in quality, taste, and service. My family enjoys our meals here and we know that we are supporting a local family run business. Our usual menu items include the Soft Tostada burrito (which is basically a bean and veggie burrito), Chile Relleno burrito, Chicken burrito, and Carne Asada burrito. We also love the beef taquitos which are not too greasy and the guacamole sauce that is served over the 2 taquitos is yummy. Hankering for a burrito, decided to try this local fave for Mexican food. Decided to get the carne asada burrito. Although very tasty with beans, rice and pico de gallo on point, in the words of the old lady on the 90's Wendy's commercial, "Where's the beef?" Unfortunately, the burrito was severely skimpy on the normal steak bits you'd expect. If the meat was more generous, it would definitely get a 4 stars and possibly 5. Came here for takeout to do my best to support local businesses that are currently being impacted. I got the Chile Relleño and my wife got the Chicken Quesadillas. We also got 2 asada tacos to share. This Mexican restaurant is in my neighborhood, and is open very early. I ordered carry out from here because I wanted to give it a try. The prices were reasonable, and the menu had a nice variety of options. I always try to find something unique in each restaurant's menu, so I ordered the steak milanesa torta and my wife ordered the pozole. For mine, I ordered a meal, which comes with a side of fries and also a soft drink. The people here are incredibly nice, and they also gave us a complimentary sampling of chile verde and chile colorado. The chile verde had a nice kick to it, and the chile colorado meat was very tender and juicy and the sauce was quite flavorful. The steak sandwich was good, though the meat was slightly on the tougher side. The pozole was quite good, but nothing stand out. However, everything was still good. I like that it is close to me, and it's a solid Mexican restaurant with good prices. It's not mind boggling, but it's a great way to satisfy a craving. read more
