So my meal was a bit hit and miss. To start off, the chips and salsa are amazing. The salsa, especially, has a nice kick to it. Then I had some of the crab bisque, which is probably one of the best soups I've ever had. So creamy, so rich, so good. However, I then ordered the chilli relleno and was really disappointed. I couldn't taste the pepper at all, the whole thing tasted like eggs, with a sweet sauce. I would come here again but wouldn't order the relleno. read more

I came here with a wedding party and asked for a simple substitution for a meal due dietary restrictions. Since I cannot eat meat due to ethical and health reasons I let the waitress know that although the only three dishes that were being offered which were fajitas, tacos, or quesadillas I could easily take one with the meat being removed. The waitress very rudely asked why do I want to take the meat out which was none of her business. I let her know it was because it would make me sick. I've been coming here for over 5yrs. love the food and good vibes. waitress and servers have always been polite and a tentative. in the past three weeks I've been three times. food was great but there's been a lack of service. same servers and waiters for years so I don't understand Why suddenly it seems like they don't care about their tables. they are gone for long periods of time 20 mibites without seeing them and the restaurant isn't busy. my table of 4 would've gotten 2more margaritas each of our waitress was around. we also would've got dessert but by that time we were frustrated with the lack of attention that we were given. No water no waitress. the other 3 tables received bad service as well. We always tip minimum 20% because our families are servers. Food has been taking longer than usual but that's ok if communicated and server is paying attention. Overall it feels like the servers are doing the minimum and its frustrating. I'm not a review guy but I thought you should know. not 5stars because of the service we were shown multiple times. read more

Alright I'll just give it to you straight - The chimichangas rule. Don't waste your time looking at the menu. Just get them. That being said, this restaurant demonstrates a few major weaknesses: 1. The salsa is thin. I mean super thin. I mean eating-disorder thin. This stuff is basically soup. When I have chips and salsa, I like to pile as much salsa as I can on each scrumptious chip. My ability to do this stands as an affront to the work of Stephen Hawking, as I attempt to disprove any law of physics to get that one little bit of extra salsa onto the smallest iota of non-finger-holding space on the chip. 2. The service was disappointing. When we asked for no-salt margaritas, we received salted margaritas. When I ran out of water, it was not refilled efficiently. 3. The enchiladas verdes were so weak compared to the chimichangas that it isn't even funny. Look, I won't even make a joke about it. That's how unfunny the comparison was. It was a decent choice with inexpensive prices. The menu was pretty limited. But they did make something special for me. The menu said their chili Relleno has raisins and some other fruity mess on it. I do love fruit but only in a fruit salad! So I asked for Green Chili sauce and they did change it for me! Most "Mexican " restaurants in the US are Tex Mex especially on the East coast and this is no different! It was okay not great. But the sause was really spicy and authentic! The chips were just bag chips and the Salsa looked like tomato flavored water so I did not even bother with the Salsa! But it is not bad, solid choice and service was fine! Do not take the 2 stars as meaning it is really bad. A friend of mine turned me onto this place about ten years ago. Since then, I've had many tequilas, nachos, tortas and Negra Modelos there. Every table gets warm chips and fresh salsa when they sit down. The waitresses are always very sweet and greet you with a smile. Everything on the menu is fantastic...the fact that it's always packed with locals and cops is proof of that. The meat was extremely thin. It looked like a slab of grilled deli meat that was cold by the time it reached the table. Overall, dish was paltry, sad, and pathetic--and for 15 dollars. This place has amazing and authentic mexican food! I have been going here for over 10 years now and I do not have any complaints about the food. The first time I walked in I thought the outside was sketchy, but once your inside it has a nice authentic environment. They give you homemade salsa with chips while you wait for your entree which is really good. As for the entrées, I really enjoy the chicken chimichangas, enchiladas suizas and the Carne Asada. My only complaint with this place is the margeritas. They taste very sweet, like they are made from a premixed store bought concoction. I use to live a block away from Mexico and remember when they opened years ago. It's just as good as ever. Yes, it's small and dingy. But, the food is excellent. I always get the combination plate of Burrito, qusadilla Y Sopa. You'll Love it. My other half swears by the Chimichangas. Also they have great nachos, order them topped with chicken as a group appitizer. The staff is friendly but, they move in slow motion. It's still very much worth the stop. I'll start with I'm a transplant from Southern California with high expectations for Mexican food... the house margarita tasted like straight mix, what they claim are flautas are really taquitos, which were overcooked with very dry chicken. The guac was nasty and the Spanish rice tasted like fried rice from Asian establishments. The second star is for the beans and salsa, which were decent. They brought over Ham steaks!! And when we questioned what was served to us, we were told they were, 'Mexican Pork Chops.!" Excuse me.. take this garbage away from us! The salsa was watery. The chips were STALE! The Drinks were expensive and they were served in cheap glassware the size of a rock glass. BEWARE of this place's neighbor. Their neighbor restaurant is a scam artist storefront called "Venezia's Pizzeria." We went to eat at Mexico Restaurant & Barand parked out front. As we were eating employees of "Venezio's" came in and started harassing us and accused U.S. of hitting one of the workers car! They actually came into the Mexico Restaurant looking for the owner of a white BMW and said they had us on surveillance ramming into a car that was in front of Venezia. First, we never touched their car. Second, the car was a MESS! It had a flat tire, the whole driver side was dented in and rusted and there were dents and paint chips missing everywhere. Yet, because we drove a new BMW and were white we where targeted for money and wanted payment for "repairs." However, on inspection the accusers were never able to come up with any video of us "ramming" into their car nor were they able to identify exactly where exactly we hit the car! This area is obviously dangerous, they target people who drive relatively nice cars and these workers are all TOTAL crooks! We left our nice meal at Mexico Restaurant and will NEVER ever be back to that area again, EVER! read more
