California burrito with queso is on point! Salsa is amazing! Drinks are cold! Carne Asada enchiladas are pretty good too! Would recommend!

Went with my mom one night and we ordered some ginger ales and nachos, and let me tell you, those were not nachos. These 'nachos' were a half bag of tortilla chips, thrown on a plate. with fake cheese slathered on them unevenly, and a salad on top. I have never seen lettuce on a plate of nachos in my life, I may as well have ordered a salad because there must have been half a head of iceberg on those. Then there were almost no beans, there was no salsa, but instead they had thrown a couple pieces of tomatoes on there, and that's about it. There weren't even jalapenos on the nachos and they were cold. The ginger ale was crazy bubbly, so that was nice, but I won't ever be going back because this place was a joke. read more

My husband and I are Texas natives and have been searching for good Mexican in the Morrisville/Cary area. Mi Cancun is officially our favorite! The margaritas, queso, and guacamole are AMAZING. The staff is always friendly, and the manager often stops by to ask how everyone is doing. Drink specials are a nice bonus. read more

This will be the shortest review I have ever written, but I mean every word of it. Everyone I talked to said this is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. That immediately made me want to not like it right away without ever going there. I was blown away. The food is delicious and now I'm on the bandwagon that tells everyone if they want the best Mexican in the area, then go to Mi Cancun. The only negative isn't really a negative other than to tell other reviewers to get a grip. The waiter was pleasant, took our order, checked back in when he should and made himself available if we flagged him down. It wasn't the most incredible service experience that has ever been on display in any restaurant anywhere as some reviewers would have you believe. We ordered, he brought it, we ate, he brought the check. All in all I'll go back again and again and recommend that others do as well if they're looking to a great Mexican restaurant. read more

My fiance and I are regulars here. So much so that many of the staff know us. We dined here tonight and as always the food was delicious. The mahi mahi taco recipe changed somewhat but still was very good. I normally would have rated Mi Cancun 5 stars but in this case I had to do four. Normally, the service is top notch regardless of how busy they are. However, the lady behind the bar was nothing short of inattentive. She seemed more interested in socializing than taking care of customers. In fact she was so inattentive that we had to ask her to take our order. We will be back because this is not what we have come to expect from Mi Cancun. However, if she is behind the bar we will sit elsewhere. read more

This is not the type of food you would expect for a Mexican restaurant. The food is OK but definitely plan on a different take on their food. Parking is a mess took us ten minutes to find a spot. The place was very crowded and there was a line but we sat outside under a umbrella so there was no line for us to get in. Make sure to check in for free cheese dip. The atmosphere was reasonable but not what you would expect from a restaurant like this. The staff were nice but don't expect a non-server to know anything about the food. All in all this is decent food but don't plan on getting any traditional Mexican cuisine here. read more

Amazing happy hour specials. Love their margaritas! The restaurant is very clean.The chips and salsa are fresh. The tacos are better than a lot of other places in the area. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. They have $1.00 tacos from 3-5 Monday through Sunday. They also have 1.99 Draft pints on Wednesdays. They have great prices, quality and service. These guys are great. Thru service is fast and friendly. The first time we were there the four was very typical to other Mexican restaurants. We love Mi Cancun. It's a family friendly restaurant with a very nice staff. I get the steak fajita taco salad, which is awesome!!! My husband gets the chori steak tacos and he loves them. Our kids get the burrito and cheese quesadilla. We've also had the fajitas and the queso. We have liked everything we have tried! Will keep going back again and again. My family and I moved from California six months ago and we are so happy to have found Mi Cancun. We've been there about 3 times and the service has been great, the menu is better than most Mexican places we've been to (here and back in CA). The chips and salsa are very good as well. Vry gud food and vry nice service. We were vegetarians and the options were multiple and were created to our liking.

Service was not that great and had a very long wait(20minutes) but told only 5. Food was what you would expect from a strip mall type place.

I must tell the truth: this place is not 5 stars for me, not even 3 stars. Most Chinese-Am restaurants tone down the spice to suit gringo tastes, as do most Tex-Mex spots. I have eaten at more than 50 Mexican restaurants in 7 states, so this isn't my first rodeo, as we say in Texas. I've had excellent Mex in Texas, New Mexico, and California. I've had forgettable Mex in Michigan, Oklahoma, and now NC. The chips are mediocre, a bit greasy. No idea why, but there were about 20 female customers and me. The "picante" sauce ain't picante. It tastes like tomato juice. I asked for some jalapeños on the side to perk it up, and they were just as dull. Some veggie seed suppliers now offer "mild" jalapeño seed. This must have been that. I had a #5 lunch "special" - a ground beef enchilada (menu doesn't mention it is hamburger meat), a chicken tamal (spelled correctly, not like their menu), rice and beans (melted cheese on the mush beans). The tamal had a rock-hard end, like it was somehow burned there, but the rest was not hard. Friend had 3 pork tacos, rice and beans, but hers was black beans (lucky gal) and salsa verde on the side. She can't bear any chili, so I captured her salsa, which was watered down, but tasty, really moderate chili taste. She said the best tasting part of the meal was the tortilla chips. Service was excellent. Torero's is a much better option. read more

This is now our go-to for mexican food. It is not really "authentic" mexican like totopos but that doesn't make it less delicious! This is a big step up from other mexican places like Los tres. The meat and chicken are actual meat and chicken and taste and look like it. Some places its a bit hard to tell. The cheese dip is great and you can get one free for checking in. Even the basic cheese enchilada is amazing as the sauces are homemade. You can really tell how good a place is by a basic enchilada. We have also had different steak dishes and all have been very flavorful. It is reasonable prices and the staff are really great. One time we got a piece of tough steak. We told the waiter and the manager came over. He not only brought something different to eat but also had them make his favorite dish for us to take home and try later. Not many places care that much that you have a good experience of their food. He wanted to be sure that we knew it was not typical of their food. We love it here!! read more

Decided to try Mi Cancun while here on business. Not gourmet, but the service was attentive, food portions perhaps a little too large for me, but the chicken & shrimp with chipotle were delicious.
