Service, drinks, & ambiance are spot on! The mambo taxi ... OMG! Does it really get any better when it's this hot outside ?!? Lol. But seriously, the main reason my husband and I go to the downtown location, or keep returning to Mi Cocina in general, is Jose! He's so great that we followed him from the Hulen location. We are always welcomed by staff & the drinks come out quick...no messing around! Lol Jose manages the bar to the highest level by taking the extra step to pay attention to the customers & fine details that lack at most places today. The tables are cleared/cleaned quickly & the food & drinks come out consistent and in a timely. It's always a great time! Will be seeing y'all again soon! read more

Super busy for a Saturday night but the wait was only about 25 minutes. We wanted something quick so the waiter suggested the enchilada plate. Great wait staff but the food was awful. Beans were extremely salty and the enchiladas were burned. Chicken was not even where you could chew it. The manager did apologize and take care of our bill . We appreciated her and how she handled it along with talking to the kitchen. Every restaurant can have an off night so we will try again soon. read more

An iconic brand in the metroplex with a great atmosphere, fresh food, my all time favorite margarita, and authentic service. Absolutely loved this place! Located right in the heart of downtown Fort Worth we stayed at hotel Sinclair right across the street and was wanting a drink. Their mambo taxi drink is the way to do!! Tons of flavor and plenty of alcohol! It says limit 2 on the menu and i can see why. That's my kind of drink though makes you feel it quicker! The atmosphere was very relaxed and laid back. Service was pretty attentive even though we were sitting at the bar and the bartender was absolutely slammed. The place was packed, due to the rodeo parade and another event at the convention center. Anyways while we waited we had a few libations. I was told to try the mambo margarita and boy was it delicious! The restaurant had outside seating but the heating lamps were out of gas. The staff was awesome, ambiance was great, and the food was ok. The proportions were healthy and the price was reasonable. I was served the nastiest slimiest Cobb salad I have ever seen. It looked like someone took wilted lettuce. Smooshed on a bunch of day old guacamole and then smashed it into the middle of the plate. They was fishy smelling shrimp on the side. That was similar edible. Nasty nasty will not be back. There were no discernible vegetables in this so called Cobb salad. A huge waste of money. Amazing staff and food. I visited my family in DFW from out of state. I missed real Mexican food and this restaurant totally delivered. From the host/hostess to the busboys to the servers... and even the manager. My family and I came around 2pm to eat before our 3pm play (around the corner from the restaurant). We ended up having to leave prior to being served due to not wanting to miss the play. We returned to the restaurant after the play and the staff was able to get us seated right away with the best service. They were very patient with us. read more

I was having such a rough week this week after I found out my dog got an STD. I didn't even know dogs could get STDs but apparently they can. Anyways, I was feeling super hungry and sad so I thought to myself, "self, where's a place that could really lift my spirits and satisfy my craving for Mexican food?" Then it came to me like a rush of wind blowing from the Northern seas, Mi Cocina! So I jumped out of bed and put pants on for the first time in days and drove on over. The beautiful face that greeted me at the door completely made my day. From the way she said, "Welcome to Mi Cocina, how many in your party?" To, "your table is ready, right this way..." I was in total awe. How could someone be this friendly and professional? Needless to say that Sydney left quite the impression on me. I am a changed person after that encounter. So I had my meal and it was good and I went home to my dog, who still has STDs but at least I'm not hungry anymore. read more

We love Mi Cocina in Sundance square but since covid-19 restaurants are kind of boring. The dining room was very quite for a Sunday night and, of course, everyone is wearing masks, gloves and the place smells squeaky clean. The food and drinks were good but I miss the hustle and bustle noise of the pre-covid days. As to be expected, the guac was fresh and tasty, the fajita nachos were perfect and the tex mex plates were tasty. Excellent service, all good.
