We go out of our way to come to this location. Great service, fantastic food using fresh ingredients, it is our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in the Metroplex. Jorge, who was our server today, has been our server previously as he's been there many years, and he is fantastic. I'm extremely impressed with this location our waiter Roger went above and beyond to make sure me and my children where satisfied . I was expecting the food to be similar to other Txt Mex restaurants but it was not ! The taste here super authentic and fresh . We had the fajitas and guacamole my kids ate all of it and they are picky eaters. The salsa seemed like it was made minutes before , the chicken was super tender .We even asked for some chips to go they liked them so much . At one point the Chef Alejandro came out to speak to us and other tables , he genuinely was interested on our opinions about the food. My husband and I have tried the Mi Cocinas in Allen, Legacy Plano, the Colony, and Preston Plano. The Preston Plano location is by far the best one we have been to! The drinks are always amazing, the food is great too! When our Mambos are running low, the bartender will come from behind the bar to our table to see if we need another. The manager is always present and loves to hear any feedback. If for any reason something isn't perfect, they'll make it right. I love this Mi Cocina! So many choices for Mexican food. This is not the one. Staff is always changing. The restaurant is in a cell phone dead zone. They do not have WiFi, what place does not have WiFi for there customers in 2019. Had to make a phone call left glasses on the bar had just ordered another drink, went outside had to walk across the parking lot to get a signal. When came back in my glasses had been picked up along with my meal and drink. The replenish it but if it had been busy someone could of been in my seat. Be very careful if you have a gift card. We had a 100 gift card we used it the last time, the total with tip was only $61.00 that left a balance of 39.00 Went to use it was told no balance left on it. one of the employees said the probably reopen your check after you left and added the balance to your tip. read more

The only reason this review gets five stars is due to Ameena's excellent service. She was incredible from the moment we sat down. The food was good, but has been much better at other locations. The first round of drinks was horrible. No flavor in my wife's tropical mojito, and my margarita was poorly made and missing the salt I asked for twice. The second round was better because we both ordered frozen drinks. Much more difficult to ruin a drink that comes out of a machine. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant for a number of reasons. Their mambo taxi drink is one of them, their salsa is great, and their mole sauce is the best I've had since trying it for the first time 4 years ago. I get takeout a lot and my order is always correct. Once my order was misheard over the phone and I didn't notice when I got there. I went back to get the similar sounding dish I originally wanted, not mad or anything - it was nobody's fault, really - and someone gave me a generous gift card. The food is consistent and delicious. The Changa...good God. I wish they had chile rellenos and sometimes the patio music is super loud but overall I'm a very satisfied customer! read more

In the DFW area for work through end of the year. Once a month I'll drive down to Plano and be at Bob's Steakhouse when the doors open. They usually have a seat for one and it's been great. Not tonight. So I walked down the road and saw Mi Cocina. Went inside and asked for a table for one. "Maybe try the bar", was the the reply from the hostess. "No, I'd rather have a table," I said. She looked at me and said, "I'll find you a high-top." I followed the hostess to the bar. She pointed to a high-top table without turning around and walked off. Okay, I get it. It's 5 p.m. on a Saturday and they want to keep the tables for larger parties. No problem. So I sit there for 8-10 minutes before a young lady comes over and slides (literally) a menu across the table. "You want something to drink?" "Yeah, I'll start with a water." She disappears for another 6-8 minutes. She comes back and asked if I was ready to order. I ordered a Mi Cocina margarita and the Poblano Chicken Enchiladas. The margarita came right out. 15-20 minutes later, the chicken dish came out...ice cold. Did it taste okay? I guess...it was freakin cold. I left a 20% tip. Why? Because times are tight, and I get that, too. Should've drove back to Frisco when Bob's was busy. Foodies beware. read more

By far the worse experience I ever had at any mi cocina I have been to in the 19 years of my life I remember each one. The waiter seemed to forgot about me and my parents. Chips and salsa were ok but the chips were cold. The manager started helping our table instead. It took a long time to get the food and to get the check.
