By far the worse experience I ever had at any mi cocina I have been to in the 19 years of my life I remember each one. The waiter seemed to forgot about me and my parents. Chips and salsa were ok but the chips were cold. The manager started helping our table instead. It took a long time to get the food and to get the check. I will not be back to this location, go the extra mile and go to the one on the tollway in the pepper square shopping center. Much better service. read more

In the DFW area for work through end of the year. Once a month I'll drive down to Plano and be at Bob's Steakhouse when the doors open. They usually have a seat for one and it's been great. Not tonight. So I walked down the road and saw Mi Cocina. Went inside and asked for a table for one. "Maybe try the bar", was the the reply from the hostess. "No, I'd rather have a table," I said. She looked at me and said, "I'll find you a high-top." I followed the hostess to the bar. She pointed to a high-top table without turning around and walked off. Okay, I get it. It's 5 p.m. on a Saturday and they want to keep the tables for larger parties. No problem. So I sit there for 8-10 minutes before a young lady comes over and slides (literally) a menu across the table. "You want something to drink?" "Yeah, I'll start with a water." She disappears for another 6-8 minutes. She comes back and asked if I was ready to order. I ordered a Mi Cocina margarita and the Poblano Chicken Enchiladas. The margarita came right out. 15-20 minutes later, the chicken dish came out...ice cold. Did it taste okay? I guess...it was freakin cold. I left a 20% tip. Why? Because times are tight, and I get that, too. Should've drove back to Frisco when Bob's was busy. Foodies beware. read more

Do you enjoy overpriced, poorly poured drinks? Do you enjoy being looked down on by a restaurant manager? If you do, by all means, go and eat at this Mi Cocina, because that is what you'll get. We took my brother and his friend out for his birthday and started out with top shelf margaritas. On the Border's "Borderitas" are twice as good as what we got. So, then we decided to save our pennies and just get some frozen margaritas since the top shelves weren't any good. The frozen margaritas came in tiny little glasses, and were on the low side of okay, about what you would expect from any mix-made frozen margarita. The menu sucks because it has pretty much no description of what the food is like. The food, outside of being nothing like what we imagined, was just 'so-so', not bad. Again, I think On the Border is much better. Service was 'okay'. We got the real shock when we got our tab. The "top shelf" (ha!) margaritas were fourteen dollars apiece. The miniscule frozen margaritas were 8 bucks each. We were shocked. So, I mentioned my shock at the price of the margaritas to the waiter. Had I known they were fourteen freakin' bucks a piece, I would have sent it back when we first got it! He then told the manager to come over, and up he walked with a look of disgust on his face. I won't detail the whole conversation, but apparently this guy thinks he's god's gift to restaurants, and Mi Cocina is the BEST PLACE TO EAT EVER!! What a jerk. Long story short, we will NEVER go to Mi Cocina again, and strongly encourage everybody we know to do the same. read more

I have been eating at MiCo for a long time. Lakeside is my favorite location and due in no small part to my favorite bartender Tito. He always remembers my drink, makes sure I'm served food promptly and provides great customer service. When I go out of town on trips, this is my first stop on my way home for my MiCo fix! read more

This is my favorite location. The patio by the water/fountain is very nice and the atmosphere is quieter so you can carry on a conversation with your date etc. not like the shops at legacy where the music is so loud that you need to scream. My husband and I are trying to find our next favorite Tex-Mex Restaurant - our go-to. And I thought with all that I hear around town that this might work for us. But, it fell short. It is very popular, but I think the food in bland and probably is better know for it's drinks. Our waiter actually found a mistake on our bill after we paid. So, we were impressed by the waiter. This is a review based on multiple visits and to-go order pickups. First off, the to-go online ordering is great. Just log online choose what you want and make side notes if you need to. Select a pickup time from the drop down menu within 15 minutes as the quickest time. Every single time we've done this our order has always been ready and correct. They will take everything out of the bag and show it to you just to make sure you are not missing anything. Their to-go orders are always great! Secondly, Dine-in experiences have been nice too. During the summer, we spent a lot of time on the patio having Mambo Taxis. They just keep 'em coming and are very attentive... especially with that number of people at the table you gotta hand it to these servers. The dining room area has good booths along the wall that are in clear view of the flatscreen tvs. I asked our server to change the channel to the Dallas Stars game for me and my request was granted! We had a great time watching the hockey game with great food and drinks. We had the Steak Fajitas and an order of the Mi Tierra Street Tacos and they were on point. The service was not too good. Had to wait a lot for order, for getting food and waited about 15 mins to get the check.

Food poisoning! We ate at this location last night. My husband became violently ill within 30 minutes after eating the Milo dinner. He was sick the entire night. I called the manager this morning to report this. He asked if my husband was allergic to lettuce or cilantro. He is not, although we believe that the produce was tainted with bacteria. We have also notified the FDA consumer report dept. and TX Dept. of State health in case other reports come in today. What an awful experience! read more

Cockroach in my water, beyond gross. I can't imagine how gross the kitchen had to be in order to get a roach in your water mid day.
