Love this place. It's crowded, always and for a reason. This is the place I have found that dry aged their flank steak. It is absolutely the best I have ever put in my mouth. They have several plates that have it and I am telling you it is perfect every time. (If you like medium rare) it is New Mexico style and a little elevated though not pretentious. The staff are always awesome. Time to go, after lunch or early dinner like 3 pm during the week. Weekends are crazy busy but it's still worth a wait. Drinks are awesome. I like a simple classic margarita with anejo tequila and they will do you right in custom cocktails. A little loud but if the weather is right they have a large patio outdoors. Busy Saturday lunch, but seems like the whole little restaurant complex is that way often right on Main Street in Grapevine. Outside seating available but too hot for us! Two dirty plates to greet us but replaced with clean ones quickly. Daniel nice server and seemingly well-versed on the menu but a few slip ups here and there though probably because he had a few larger at the same time. Table side guacamole awesome, but I don't recommend it with the bacon as it seemed to dominate too much when added. The flavor without the bacon is just fine and we chose the medium level for spiciness. Kids split the bacon and chicken quesadillas which is really plenty of food for both my 13 and 17 year old girls. My wife and mother split the steak fajitas, which had a great flavor though ever so slightly overcooked. My father had the chicken quesadillas which were a smidge dry but otherwise fine. I enjoyed the oxeye enchiladas although I requested over easy eggs because I like the yolk running over the enchiladas. In this instance slightly overcooked as well, but loved one side of green chile sauce and the other red. My mom and dad both had a corona, and so I think the bill came out a little over $110 for six so sharing plates helped with the cost and was more than enough food. The girls actually had 3 wedges of quesadillas left for take-home. Good value doing it this way, and again there seemed to be more than enough food for everyone. The tab even included sopapillas, which come out with five of them and some honey. I was full from the meal so everyone else got to try it. Feedback was positive on desert. Came here late, at 8pm before heading to a nearby event hoping to miss the busy dinner crowd. The place was still moderately full, we got seated inside immediately which was great since we were in a bit of a time crunch. The salsa that came out with the chips at the very start of the meal was just ok. Chips were good but the salsa had a green sauce mixed into it that was very acidic and sour. Maybe a tomatillo and lime sauce, but it completely overpowered the salsa. We ordered a couple drinks from the bar, my hibiscus champagne margarita was incredible, and to my surprise included a piece of dry ice with "fog". The other drink was said it came with a cilantro ice sphere which is why we ordered it but they must have ran out or just forgot about it because we got a normal ice block with a single cilantro leaf thrown into the drink. Things went downhill from here, i got my usual duck tacos that were great but we also got the chicken nachos which were the saddest and most disappointing "nachos" i think I've ever seen. Maybe 3 shreds of cheese and the chicken was paper thin and dry as a bone. We had 2 bites and couldn't eat any more. The soup we ordered was bland, lacking flavor, and texture. Nobody ever asked how the food was even after we said no when they asked if we wanted a to-go box for the nachos. We had two servers but both rarely came by and a when a third asked to top off our waters he only topped off one, leaving the other two glasses half empty. read more

This beautiful beverage that I had received this evening for my mothers birthday celebration at this lovely restaurant was very enjoyable. The dollops of sour cream and guacamole added a special texture to the drink that I think was very creative! They also had added pepper spices and Dr Pepper, which made the beverage have a slight spice to it, which broadened the spectrum of this delectable drink. In my 41 years of teaching, never had I enjoyed such a wonderful drink ever, the taste and texture combined had truly introduced me to many horizons that I have never tasted ever. I do not believe I can truly rate this beverage from 1-10 because I do not think numbers can do it enough justice, so I guess all I can really say is that this beverage was so great that anyone who tries it would say the same thing. read more

Honestly, the food here is mediocre at best. We were really disappointed with the quality across the board. The tamales were mostly masa with very little meat, and the "upsell" margarita definitely didn't taste like a premium drink.The taco salad was a total letdown--I got a "whole head" of lettuce, five beans, and three tiny pieces of tomato. I'm still searching for the cheese that was supposed to be in it! To top it off, the tortilla wasn't fresh at all, which is frustrating for a place that claims to cook from scratch.Service was only moderate; I'm still waiting for a water refill as I write this. Hands down the best fresh guac in DFW. I've enjoyed it for years, and it's always consistent. How can you resist that crispy bacon on top?! It's nice to customize it how you want. Their chicken fajitas also come with bacon layers on top and make the overall flavor pop even more. The margarita menu is large, and it's nice having healthy options for mix, not the sweet and sour boxed mix. The jalapeño margarita is legit! We visited Mi Dia in Grapevine last evening to give it a try - we had never been there. We have been trying to find a good Tex Mex restaurant, since Pappasitos acquired (and ruined) On the Border and changed all the menus and food prep - ending the use of mesquite wood grilled beef and chicken. On the Border was one of the very few restaurants using mesquite wood to grill their beef and chicken - which provided the best flavor of any Tex Mex restaurant around. We understand Mi Dia uses pecan wood to grill beef and chicken, which doesn't provide nearly the flavor of mesquite wood - which we learned after trying their Quesadillas and Steak & Relleno - which were good, but nothing special for the price. We also tried their Para La Patrona margarita, which was good... but... nothing special for the price $17. The service was great, as was the patio. But... all this comes at a premium price, over more common Tex Mex restaurants - and the food and drinks quality doesn't justify the premium prices. On the Border was a much better alternative, in their good years - nothing really compares / compared. With the possible exception of the "Original Herrara's" on Maple in Dallas - which was a much different experience - but had incomparable shredded beef burritos. So... we'd rate Mi Dia - (4 stars for food and 5 stars for service)... A much better alternative - if - you're up for an exclusive, premium priced Mexican restaurant is, of course, Javier's in Dallas (5+ stars) - nothing else really compares - but - it comes at a price! It's the place you go for special occasions! Unfortunately - we're still looking for a good Tex Mex restaurant which uses mesquite wood to grill their chicken and steak! Oh well... So we have been wanting to try this for a long time. My wife works in colleyville and they have raved about this place. My first impression was not so great. I spent way too much time trying to make a reservation. The Flower Mound and Plano locations accept reservations online. I tried multiple times to make us reservations and couldn't find an open day ever for two people. I even tried calling the Grapevine location after 11 am when they opened, nobody ever answered. I finally called the Plano location and they said the Grapevine location does not accept reservations for any parties less than 5 people. However, the other locations do. So I kept trying to call until they finally answered. Very annoying and took way too much time. So we arrived at Saturday.It was packed and took about 30 minutes to get a table. Much later into the night and I imagine it would be a long wait. We stood by the bar and ordered two drinks. I have to say their drinks are pricey but well worth it! The bartenders are awesome and great bar. Just a little small. We were finally sat down and met with some great chips and salsa. Quite honestly, our waiter was either having a bad night or just not very friendly. A little disappointed but we moved on. Did I mention their drinks were so good we ordered a second round. Sorry but we enjoyed them so much I didn't get pictures. I had two different margaritas and could have made them my dinner ! My wife decided on the chimichanga and I had the combo fajitas. We also ordered the table side guacamole. Now I'm surprised they brought it out pre-made. Every time I've ordered a table side guacamole they make it at the table side. However, it was off the chain good! They don't scrimp on the portion either. Never had bacon bits in guac before but holy cow it made it soooo good! Wow!!! My wife really liked her chimichangas and I liked the combination fajitas. The chicken and beef tasted really good. Lots of flavor! A little disappointed again that I asked for combo of flour and corn tortillas and they brought out a good size basket with TWO flour tortillas. I am absolutely going to come back and edit this review after another trip to Mi Did because I REALLY want to give them 5 stars but I can't for ONE reason and I'll get to that at the end. I'll start by saying this is a very sexy place! The patio on a nice night is an experience! It is made fresh table side and It will have your mouth tumbling with flavor like you were on the Paris olympic team! I don't really do guac often as I only eat avacado's when I'm on a health plan and working out but I decided to give it a go for the experience of being table side. To see everything be made fresh and you taste every bit of freshness! The lime shines through while the acidity is perfectly balanced by the bacon that are true joys in every bite. YOU GET A LOT OF GUAC!!!! The queso is robust! Smokey, smooth, a hint of spice, velvety, and full. A star in its own right. I ordered the Poblano Steak. I was very impressed by the taste! Well seasoned and you don't miss flavor in any bites. It appeared that it was marinated as well as dry aged for 29 days. The pepper had amazing flavor as well. I wish this was all to it however the knock that I have is that the food was cold. It was busy that night and the food didn't take long to be served so I'm not sure how that came to be. I informed the waitress and she was glad to have them remake it. Upon the second attempt, the steak was hot however the pepper and cheese was still cold. It didn't taste like it was made fresh, it tasted like it was reheated. It was a large glob of cheese that you could cut with a knife. I was hungry at that point and as I said before, the flavor profile was there so I just toughed it out and ate it. I was all set to go and my waitress informed me that due to the food not being of the appropriate temperature, that they removed the steak off the bill. We ate dinner at the Grapevine location on Friday, 4/24/26. There were four of us and the two diners who ordered the Chicken Queadillas and the New Mexico Tampiquena said their meals were very flavorable and tasted fresh. My husband and I split the entree feature of Waygu fajitas. The flavor was good, but the Waygu steak was so tough that you could not bite through it. When I tried to take a bite, the entire piece of steak came out of the fajita in one whole strip. My husband had the same experience. Waygu is supposed to be so tender that it melts in your mouth. That has been our experience with other restaurants. We were very disappointed. I also was disappointed with the food presentation. Our plate looked pretty with two large bulb green onions, but they took up 1/3 of our plate yet were unedible. My other complaint is that the El Jefe margaritas were $18.00 each. Way too expensive for an average tasting drink. The check was split 50/50 between the two couples, but our waiter had to reprint the receipt 3 times before he had a correct receipt for each couple. I had been to the restaurant for lunch one time and it was OK. Based on this last experience, I don't believe we will be returning. read more

First visit to a Mi Dia. I'd call this an upscaled Tex-Mex/New Mex hybrid. Great atmosphere (caveat: if you are bothered by loud, this ain't your place) and ambience, excellent service. Chips/salsa rating: very good. Drinks were also above average. The one disappointment: tableside guac. Was a little surprising as it seems to be promoted a bit, but it was notably low on flavor -- given the basics, it's pretty hard to make bad guacamole, but I had no interest in additional portions. Strange. Entrees jumped back into the excellent category. Street tacos of multiple varieties were delicious -- our sea bass tacos were outstanding. A burrito ordered by one member of our party was both tasty and ginormous -- a surprise (the size) given the general elevated / smaller portion vibe here. Today was duck carnitas street tacos which were very good. Would be nice if they provided an option to mix / match the four tacos in order to try different ones. Even if it was charged at highest price of the four if they had no way to easily charge "Individual prices of each of the 4". Little things that make the difference between a 4 and 5 star establishment. While the atmosphere is nice, the "spotlights" at least above the back booths are annoyingly useless especially when trying to read the menu where only a small portion can be lighted at a time. When looking for food spots to check out while I was in the DFW area for work, I focused on Southern, BBQ, and Mexican/Tex-Mex spots. Mi Dia stood out due to recommendations from locals as well as great write-ups here on Yelp and other sites. That was enough to convince me, so after all my work events were done for the day, a few of us decided to head over for some Mexican. There are a few Mi Dias in the DFW area; since we were staying in Grapevine we decided to check this one out since it was the closest. I actually tried to make a reservation before flying in and was told that they only book tables for larger parties. It's confusing however, because this location has an OpenTable page and their other locations can book smaller parties. Anyway, we took our chances and since we arrived relatively late it wasn't crowded and were seated right away. The aesthetics are kinda modern - a mostly earth tone color scheme with pops of red and modern fixtures. The menu is a mix of Tex-Mex with more modern Mexican, with a variety of apps, soups, salads, tacos, and mains. Before food, we decided to start with some drinks; I decided to get the Blueberry Habanero Margarita which was quite good. Our server said it was spicy, but it wasn't too bad - just the right amount of heat in the back of the throat. I'm partial to anything blueberry, so it was a win. For dinner we decided to share two taco dishes: the sea bass and the duck, and an order of carnitas quesadillas. Everything was delicious - the ingredients were fresh with great flavor. The quesadilla especially was a generous helping and they didn't skimp on the protein. The tacos came with sides of rice and beans which were tasty as well - this has the risk of being bland but it was seasoned well. Dessert we shared the churros - these were freshly made and delicious. It came with side of chocolate sauce and ice cream which were great complements. Service was excellent- everyone was super friendly and our server made great recommendations. Even when we packed up a few things to go, they gave us fresh chips and salsa as a takeaway. Overall, I had a great experience at Mi Dia - the surroundings were comfortable, food was delicious, and service was above and beyond. I love Mi Dia, the food there is so delicious! The staff is nice and it is definitely one of the fancier places you can go to for Mexican food. Great place for a date. There are so many good looking options on the menu that I'll need to go multiple time just to try them out. Just an fyi but their chips and salsa are amazing so be careful not to overdo it! This is the first time we have had a bad experience here. When we got there, the waitress we were supposed to have gave our table to a different waiter. Then, we got a bowl of queso instead of a cup. After that, flour tortillas came out, and they were not homemade. My husband asked the waitress about them in Spanish. She basically told my husband, "Do you really think we would switch out homemade for store bought? My told her he just knows homemade tortillas from store bought as he is Hispanic. She came back in a couple of minutes and said they were store bought. Our waiter only came to our table twice. When we asked for our check and chips and salsa to go, he took 10 minutes to come back as we saw him going around the restaurant, talking to other servers. So disappointed! read more

I had the blueberry habanero margarita, it was delicious starts off sweet and then you taste the spicy. It was spicy though and I handle heat pretty well! For dinner I had the steak and relleno, the texture of the steak was similar to a filet not chewy minimum fat and it had amazing flavor. This dish was huge, I brought home over half my steak. What a treat! This is def a hot spot in the hustle and bustle of the Dallas Metroplex. Upscale Mexican/American fusion made from scratch (hence the name). From the time we walked in, to the time we walked out, it was a great dining experience. Our waiter, Dayton, was exceptional with his vast knowledge of the menu, his recommendations and his pleasant demeanor. After looking over their very unique menu, we decided to have the Duck Carnitas Tacos. It is hard to describe the moistness, and deliciousness that the tacos had. It came with Spanish Rice and refried beans which were also great. Our daughter had the Huevos Rancheros which is her go-to at Mi Dias. Our SIL had the Chicken Fajitas. Everything was amazing.
