The food is really good at Mi Pueblo, I enjoyed the warm salsa that came with the chips. The menu is has a lot of choices without being overwhelming. My parents have always raved about Mi Pueblo and I was dying to try it! Sadly, our experience wasn't as great as usual. They were out of many things that we planned to order; tamales, horchata, and lengua tacos. The rice and beans were both bland and the chile relleno was filled with completely unmelted cheese, which was disappointing. The flavors were good, but the meltiness was lacking. I did like the mole enchilada, but there was not much of a sweetness in the flavors. I didn't get the chocolaty-ness that I was looking for. The one part of the meal that I would suggest is the El Pastor taco. I hope to come back again and have a better experience. read more

I was on vacation and was looking for a Mexican spot and this place looked Authentic and a lot of people were eating outside. We were seated and given chips with hot salsa (the temperature). This was new to me but for it being a hot day, it wasn't so enjoyable. When we got our meal, we asked for plates to eat with and no one brought us anything. We were eating out of the bowl that the food came with. We asked multiple of people and no one brought anything over. The hostess asked if there was a problem and my bf complained that we didn't get plates to eat with and that the server didn't check on us. We finally got plates and we asked for more chips. It just seemed the service was terrible, no one came over to talk to us about the situation and the time the plates and chips came to our table we had eaten the food. The food was overpriced and ok but it just seemed a lot to endeavor when your trying to have a nice dinner out. Also they don't have their liquor license so we couldn't eat drink and enjoy anything. Overall, they charged us $1.50 extra for chips we didn't eat. The picture was $35. It had cheese 3 shrimp one size for chicken and steak. Steak taco first - steak was tender, juicy small hints of cumin and garlic with every bite, perfect. Chicken taco - chicken was tender, juicy, small hints of oregano, perfect. Saved the BEST for last, Carnitas taco - mind blown. The pork was seasoned with cinnamon, not a flavor you'd expect pork to have but it worked. It married well with the hints of garlic and oregano....pork should always have cinnamon, delicious! Yes, come to Mi Pueblo. Spend your whole paycheck here. This was my first time going to eat at Mi Pueblo. First thing I noticed was how well the Mexican-culture environment was. The decorations are great. Aside from decorations, the food was nothing special but it wasn't bad. Something that sort of took me by surprise was that they only serve water and alcohol (there are no fountain drinks or juices for people who can't drink). Had an awesome vegetarian dinner for two! The cheese Flautas were delicious from the start to finish! Perfectly garnished with lettuce, creme and sauce! Nice change from typical offerings! I went with a standard classic veggie enchiladas, the gentleman was very helpful and made certain that they weren't spicy for me! The enchiladas came their delicious black beans puree and rice! There veggies were grilled with some charring and they were still crisp not mushy like many I've had elsewhere. They were topped perfectly and not over powering with green sauce. I also ordered the horchata! Magnificent!! Perfect balance of ingredients and not as heavy as others I've had before! We will definitely be back!! I have been eating here since they've been open sometimes multiple times in a week and I never get tired of their food. You couldn't find the restaurant unless you were looking for it as it is tucked away down an alley on the back of another building. The restaurant itself is small only a few tables but the temperature is always well regulated whether it's summer or winter(this is important as most restaurants either blast the AC or it's way too hot. Having family who cooks authentic Mexican food we are always skeptical of restaurants in the area that advertise their authenticity. After having lunch here yesterday we are excited to add a new restaurant to our favorites list. The good here is as authentic as you are going to get on Cape. We bought tamales as appetizers which were great. The chips were also great and I loved the salsa which had a little lick. For our main meals I bought the Chile relleno and my wife bought enchiladas. The Chile relleno was a bit over breaded but the enchiladas were delicious and all of the side dishes were good. In the end we loved our meals but wish they either had the TV or radio on. It was a little weird sitting in silence as we ate. That being said, it allowed my wife and I to have a wonderful conversation while dining. Moral of the story, eat here! read more

Visiting cape cod with the family and found this little spot on yelp. So happy we made the drive! Authentic Mexican food made to order. Everything that was served was fresh and delicious. The chips and salsa were so good! Salsa was freshly made and delicious. I ordered a huarache (large corn tortilla) with black beans,green salsa, lettuce, sour cream and carne asada. The best I've heard in the north east. I'm from California and it's hard to find great places out here that serve great Mexican food. My husband ordered a carne asada place and it came with beans and rice. He was very pleased with the portions and of course it was delicious!! My daughter had a kids meal that included a quesadilla and fries. That was ok it's a regular kids meals nothing fancy. Horchata was yummy! Ordered refills! Place may come off as sketchy, but don't be intimidated!!!! The food is as authentic as it gets even by Cape standards. Prices are totally reasonable but again, the food here is what matters, bar none. Had the Mi Pueblo plate displaying multiple Mexican flavors which includes a pork tomale and chicken enchilada. First of all the gentleman at this places was extremely nice. It's a hard to find place, it has two entrances and we ended up going through the bathroom entrance to access the restaurant. We just didn't know. Usually hole in the place type restaurant are really good, it was small and looked nicely decorated inside, looked like the food might be good. We were extremely disappointed. Excuse my typos typing this fast, I will break this down in terms of what we ate first: 1. Complimentary chips was fresh and hot with really good tomatillo salsa that was spicy so that was excellent. 2. Appetizer we had fundido something basically chips and queso. This was actually pretty bad and small portion see picture attached. The cheese was not creamy and as soon as it cool it was powdery or granulated if u want really not good. 3. Chicken taco is $3 for one tiny taco, it looked really good but had no taste at all it needed simple salt and pepper it was very bland. 4. The burrito was the weirdest. We got a chicken burrito there were barely any chicken inside. The worst part is it was very bland again and had peas and carrots. I have had many many burritos all over the country this was by far the worst in terms of tasting. The ingredients seem fresh. For some reason they give you the guacamole on the side and they charge extra if u want lettuce inside. The beans and rice inside was also not good. We had two types of burrito chicken and beef both were the same with barely any meat. I seriously could not find the chicken it was there just barely there. 5. We ordered the flaus which is like a tequito if u want, it had shredded chicken that was a little better but nothing special. Mi pueblo is a small eatery hidden behind some other businesses. I wouldn't have found it unless I was walking by. Has 3 booths and a table for 10. CLEAN. Place had Spanish speaking people ordering; you know it's legit. The house salsas d chips were warm, and the salsa had heat in addition to the bursting flavor. We began to salivate. We first tried "mi pueblo nachos". WOW! Every layer was loaded. It was a mountain of deliciousness. Next, Enchiliadas Suizas. Great tasting with the tomatillo sauce. Cape Cod has needed this restaurant for a long time. We have Mexican restaurants that are fine for after work hangouts or for birthday parties but now we have one where the highlight is the food. It's family run with pleasant service. It's not just small, it's downright tiny -- seats about a dozen in all. The menu is not huge but provides a range of choices with specials every day. Prices are very reasonable and portions are large. I feel about Mi Pueblo a lot like Bangkok Thai. If it ever attracts the crowd it deserves I'll never get in! read more

Mexican food on rather frenetic Main St. Tucked behind a convenience store (across from Fresh Ketch), this hole in the wall looks grim and drab but the food is pretty darn good. I love fish tacos but was bummed they use farmed nasty Tilapia (ugh)...I opted for two chicken burritos to go. They were massive. The sides of fresh tomatillo sauce and guac were amazing. The odd thing was the frozen veggies inside (peas and cubed carrot). The staff were very friendly. When I approached the door, it was all closed up on a gorgeous 75 degree fall day. My co-worker and I have been hunting for an authentic Mexican place in the mid-Cape and weren't disappointed. If you're looking for it to feel like a resort this isn't the place you're looking for. It's classic Mexican in that it's low on decor and aesthetics (the seat's sag, there is no decor to speak of) and it's down a back alley next to the Elbow Room. It's very much what you'd expect to find in Mexico, those with the best food often just focus on the food and the company you bring, and don't bother much with kitschy sombreros, cactuses, and mariachis on the wall. There's nothing wrong with the decor but there's an authenticity to eating this type of food in a no-fuss greasy spoon atmosphere (kind of like the Mexico restaurant up in Waltham off Moody Street, but not quite so fancy as The Cafe Romero down an alley off Newbury Street in Boston) As far as the food goes, this place is the real deal as far as food quality and price. The menu was straight out of Puerto Morelos or south of Tulum and north of Playa del Carmen outside the tourist zones. Nothing fancy here, paper and plastic, Fanta straight from the glass bottle, all family style atmosphere and quality-wise. The corn tortillas were fresh made, still warm and with a light sheen of grease directly from the pan (nothing warmed out of the microwave). The first sign of the real was the fresh tortilla chips and a mole-tinged pico de gallo. My co-worker had a taco trifecta, two types of beef (one that was swarma-like slightly charred and seasoned) and a chicken, and I had the carnitas plate. His chow looked fantastic and my pile of delicious carnitas were right out of su madre's playbook; Fork tender, together with the beans and rice for $11everything was authentically flavored, served simply and fresh. Nothing was sitting around in a heated pot and the service was friendly and fair. They'd do better to expand the operation and get it with some curbside appeal for sure but as far as hidden and tucked away gems go, this place is it. read more

Wow....my husband and I came here based on yelp recommendations and we couldn't have even further off. I am easily pleased in terms of restaurants but I'm very picky about Mexican food as I love if so much. Unfortunately we walked into a "hidden gem". I was under the impression from the sparse decor that maybe, just maybe it really was a gem and I wasn't trapped in a small dingy restaurant. I was wrong. It started with the fact that there was no heat or even a small heater in the beginning of a freezing November evening....then, the bathroom was dirty. I was so looking forward to a Margarita as they didn't have a menu, I just assumed there would be one.... Not the case. They had a few bottled sodas and tap water in styrofoam cups. They then brought out paper plates and plastic utensils....odd for a restaurant but I figured they were new. When the food came out mediocre in taste and a bit cold, we had about enough. I was going to give two stars....until a spider walked across the table, and then it became one star. I know they are in their infancy as a restaurant, but they NEED heaters, clean bathrooms, spicier food and real plates. As a local, I was so looking forward to good Mexican food.
