Found this "hole-in-the-wall" place to eat on our last night in Hyannis...it was so, so good. We ordered the shrimp ceviche for an appetizer...was really good in a sweet tomato sauce. Very refreshing and the chips are freshly made to order. I had the mole chicken enchiladas which were a little spicy and my partner had the pork carnitas plate. Now we've vacationed in Puerto Rico a lot but this carnitas was the best we've had. It's roasted and quickly fried to crisp up but wasn't greasy like we've had before. And I'm not a huge bean eater but their ranchero beans are off the chain yummo! They need to blend that up, bottle it, drop the mic and walk out. Be forewarned though...it's so authentic there's no A/C & was a little warm. read more

I got the Mole Enchiladas. I always figure a place is pretty authentic if they make their own Mole. The sauce did not disappoint. I would certainly recommend this dish. It came with perfectly done rice and beans and I even had enough to save as leftovers. It is a rare occurrence that I have extra food to take home. Big portions. Authentic. Very clean and friendly. Not a dive , just a very small and modest place. Extremely clean and the food is incredible. I live in NYC but lived in LA for many years and this is a tremendous Mexican restaurant. Ordered the veggie burrito (went there 4 times in 2 weeks, if that says anything) and got chicken burritos and a tostada special for my family and they were all amazing. Also, told friends and they got take for their house of 10 people and it was a huge hit. They finish the burritos in a pan after they roll them which makes them just a bit crispy. I love that. tres leches cake included in my first order was amazing, so I hear. I don't eat dairy. Words like "sketchy" in some of the other reviews sound like code to me. I don't get it, but I'm from NYC. Turn into the narrow alley next to a Embargo and park behind. Great ice cream place across Main St too. read more

Oh my goodness....This out of the way, hole in the wall place is a beautiful find. When we are in Hyannis - we set aside sometime to eat here. It's like eating in someone's house and their mom is cooking for you. It's nothing fancy....but the blend of tastes is reason to celebrate. Their portions are large. We love Mexican and this did not disappoint. It was obvious that everything we had was made fresh to order! We started with the complimentary chips and tomatillo salsa, chips were perfect and salsa was just spicy enough... For appetizers we had queso Fundito and Guacamole. Queso and guacamole could have both used a little more seasoning but there weren't bad at all. Entrees, I had a Shrimp Ceviche (actually an appetizer) Tostada, Enchiladas Suiza and a Burrito. Delicious! The only negative I can really add is the service could be a little better. It wasn't terrible, by any means, but this establishment is a mom and pop restaurant with their kids serving the tables.. Had to ask for a glass of ice twice, silverware, etc.... The only drawbacks are the sketchy alley-way entrance, lack of liquor licence, and what I will call an unusual bathroom set up (in the "foyer" of one of the entry-ways). I grew up in California so I'm used to places like this. It's totally unassuming down an alley , where you think maybe you made a wrong turn. But let me tell you, don't judge from first appearances! It's very small and colorfully decorated. Lots of Mexican art and framed paintings hanging from the walls which lends to the authentic vibe! I felt totally at home and was immediately transported back to my childhood. The food was totally outstanding and absolutely authentic! My husband and I enjoyed the chicken flautas and quesadillas with warm salsa and chips.! So many fantastic options on the menu! We wanted to order more but we had dinner reservations elsewhere. Honestly we should have stayed here!! You can keep your Americanized Sam Diego's, and Acapulco's! If you want delicious authentic food try this gem out. We can't wait to come back! read more

Wow! This is the best Mexican food I have found in New England. My husband and I went in for what we hopped would be an authentic Mexican taco and got so much more. We ordered the Mi Pueblo Plate, shrimp taco, and pastor taco. Everything was awesome. Each taco had a zesty sweet flavor and the stuffed pepper on the Plate was so, so delicious. NO BUENO. We saw almost 5 stars and are always looking for hole in the wall restaurants but God damn. We had complimentary white corn chips which were good but tomatio burn your mouth salsa was dirty af. We got carne asada, a chicken burrito and a beef burrito. The beef itself was nothing special and needed salt, rice was pretty good, the beans were watery and gross (refried and not). The dirty salsa was in the burritos as well so they were basically inedible. Everything was on paper plates and plastic utensils despite sitting down for a meal at a "restaurant" which is cool at home but not for a dinner somewhere. Basically there were a ton of red flags that we just kept overlooking when we shoulda left. Never again. read more

We found this place using Yelp and after a bit of searching from the street, we found the signs pointing down and alley, around a corner and to a typical looking door. Look on the side of the building, it's difficult to spot on the street. Inside the place is fairly plain looking with a few booths and tables. If you are looking for ambiance, margaritas, "common" Mexican restaurant experience, this isn't the place. Aside from the paper plates, plastic forks, lumpy booth benches the food here was exceptional and reasonably priced. This is THE place for great food, hands down. read more

Sometimes you just want really good, authentic food. This little hole in the wall is definitely the place to come if you want outstanding Mexican food. I started w guacamole (I mean, how could you NOT? They make it to order) and asked for it without cilantro. OMG- so yummy and creamy and chunky and fresh. It's the kind of guac you want after a hot day in the sun. I had enchiladas mole with shredded chicken, and it was more than I could have hoped for. The chicken was tender and well-seasoned but the magic was the mole. It was dark, funky, had enough heat to wake you up and enough brightness to let you know you weren't eating some pre-made from a can stuff. Absolutely divine. I was too full for the rice, but the beans were also a stand out- light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. This isn't a fancy date place, but we left totally happy and looking forward to a repeat visit. I highly recommend a visit. read more

The atmosphere is almost absent and there's a weird smell in the dining room, but the food makes up for all of that. I have been meaning to write a review for a few months... This past November I had returned from my annual trip to small Mexican towns on the Caribbean coast and was feeling nostalgic. We went to Mi Pueblo and I can honestly say that there was no difference between being in Mexico and eating at Mi Pueblo in Hyannis. Such a relief consider the faux mexican gringo options that are available on the Cape!!! Decor is just what you would get in a local mexican restaurant, tables chairs, no frills. As for the 1-star review, much of the traditional mexican menu is not spicy, that you would find in the other cactus, margaritas, sombrero Tex-Mex joints on Cape, but if you want an affordable authentic Mexican meal visit Mi Pueblo, if you can find it!!!! read more

THE very best Mexican food on Cape Cod, and having spent 30 years living in Texas and dining in outstanding Mexican restaurants all over the state and in Mexico, New Mexico, California, and elsewhere, we have earned our stripes ;). ¡Mi Pueblo está mucho bueno! I read a few of the reviews for this place and I think "hole in the wall" is about as accurate a description as one could muster. In the back corner of a building off Main Street in Hyannis (drive down the pothole infested side street adjacent to Embargos) I think, at best, there is seating foray e 20 people in this place. Who cares? Cheap formica tables and friendly, homey and yes, I will say it...nicely authentic Mexican food. ¡Comida que me gusta! The menu is smallish, and it should be. My good friends and I had the Guacamole with Chips and it truly seemed made to order. I may have preferred a bit more zesty lime juice (next time I'll ask), but it was relatively perfect. I thought for the size and portion it may have been a little high ($7.99), but it's a small complaint. Why? Well, be forewarned that all the dishes come on styrofoam plates and containers or plastic little cups. My water came in styrofoam with a lid, my Horchata as well. Kinda like I was getting coffee at some decent bodega. Oh, small note here, the Horchata was delicious! I make the stuff at home and this was perfectly ricey, with just the right kick of cinnamon and sugar. My friend tried 2 flavors of the Jarritos (mandarina y limon). He was satisfied with the cane sugar flavored Mexican sodas. They're tasty! Let the kids try some. On that note, another blessing. No kids menu of lesser offerings - just straight up tasty and freshly prepared comidas for the family & friends. The prices are great, and you all should share - family style! Update after reviewing menu...there is a kids menu of a burger, chicken fingers and a quesadilla. Sure, if you have to, but don't. The kids would be better fed on tamales, burritos and anything other comidas that the family could share. But I digress, back to the guacamole. The chips were light, crisp and fresh. I am not sure if they make them, but they were perfect. The tostadas on the other hand were the only disappointment of the night. It's supposed to be a shrimp and octopus ceviche with sweet tomato broth, diced onion, cilantro, Serrano, tomato and avocado; however, the octopus seemed nonexistent, it was a bit to sweet (needed more cilantro, Serrano and a dash of nice salt). Additionally, it was almost soupy and dressed all wet over a crisp little tostada. My thought is that the recipe needs a little work and perhaps the tostada could be cupped a bit to hold it. You could sip it, spoon it and crunch it a lot better than the little unpleasant mess that it presented itself this evening. Be that as it may, it was nonetheless fairly fresh tasty although I think the shrimp may have been cooked prior to civiche-ing. Amongst my fine company for the evening, we had among us three different dishes - and I did try them all. I had the Chicken Mole Enchiladas, there was also Mi Pueblo Plate and Pork Carnitas on the table. Each dish had ranchero beans and Mexican rice. I'll start with the beans, they were fantastic, cooked perfectly, redolent in flavor and finely textured in the bean and the sauce. The rice was good (typically a little overcooked), had carrots and green peas with a light tomato seasoned rice. I think the carrots were fresh not frozen (it was close), the peas were definitely frozen. No matter, it was very tasty. Here I will note that the table could have had a nice simple and flavorful Mexican hot sauce. We had a small bottle of toxic green looking habanero sauce that wasn't all that spicy, and there was about 2 tablespoons left in the bottle. Think Cholula or Valentina and you will have me @ "Hola." So, every dish had I think some cream fresca and queso fresco. The wetish Mexican sour cream ( could've been enhanced with a little lime juice and zest) and small crumbles of queso (more please) made every dish just move over the top a little more. The Chicken Mole Enchiladas were delicious - the mole had just the right blend of cinnamon, dried Poblano peppers, walnuts, chocolate, seeds and a touch of anise I think. The Pork Carnitas were succulent and full of slow roasted and simply seasoned flavor. The Mi Pueblo plate of enchilada suize, pork tamale and Chile Rellano might be the best bet here. Each had its own dimension and depth of flavor. Damn, the tomatillo sauce was so fresh and perfect I could have licked it off the table - or off the styrofoam plates! The tamale may have been one of the best I have had in some time. I'm still trying to taste it! On that note again, a little green approach would be great if they can find a reasonably priced substitute for their plating. Think paper that can stand the sauce! The seasoning here is nearly dead on across the board. Quite a feat in any restaurant in my opinion. No salt or pepper is in any way necessary, but the better hot sauces are needed. Don't be deterred by my 4 stars (I'm tough), but this place is one of the best in town. Get thee to Mi Pueblo! You will not be disappointed. read more
