We were watching a band in the area while visiting Solano Beach and after the show got hungry. My bf found this place nearby and the menu seemed promising so we gave it a try and I'm so glad we did. We got there kinda towards the end of the night but not too late. We sat at the bar and had a fantastic time chatting with Nick. He was so friendly and also a fantastic bartender. Gave us lots of recs for San Diego while we were in town. The espresso martinis he made were delicious as well. I think the restaurant is new and is so cute and clean (side note, the wallpaper in the bathroom is so fun I loved it!!!) To eat we ordered the Mezze platter, the crispy Spanish octopus, the snapper ceviche, and the empanadas. We really enjoyed it all. I think we both agreed the octopus was our favorite. If you know me or my reviews, we get octopus every restaurant we go to where it's on the menu. This was the first time we got the more than just the tentacles. I think it was the head as well? It was delicious and so different and tasted great. The dish was really crispy, and the sauce it came with was perfectly paired. My bf didn't like the ceviche as much as I did but I really enjoyed it. It was acidic/limey. I enjoyed it but he said it was okay/ too sour... to each their own! All in all, really enjoyed this restaurant. Would love to come back here, unfortunately we are back in FL, but if we come back to the area we will be back!

My birthday dinner and I could not have chosen a more perfect dining experience to accentuate my day ! Our attentive, knowledgeable and amazing server, Katy, recommended choosing from the shareable section : volcano tostada, crispy Spanish octopus , hamachi crudo, and pork belly tacos . And, we chose every one of them and were extremely satisfied . Out of those 4, the 2 that stood out in robust flavor were the volcano tostada and the crispy Spanish octopus! There is a full service bar. There is outside/patio seating or inside . We chose inside and still enjoyed the "al fresco " feeling by its indoor-outdoor design. As a long-term resident, I am absolutely thrilled to see chic and trendy new eateries elevating our local dining scene. And, Mia's...being a great addition to that scene!!

We had a girls night at Mia's last night and the food was just OK. We did love the ambiance of the restaurant tho... We each had a different margarita- the coconut, carrot passion and the aguachile. None of them were worth coming back for. If I had to choose out of the three- it would be the aguachile. We started off with the volcano tostadas- 3 come in an order. This was the best out of what we ordered. However- it was just ok. We then got the empanadas- 3 come in an order with a salsa and a chimichurri aioli. The salsa tasted like the filling of the empanada and the aioli tasted like tartar. My friend complained to constantly burping this up the rest of the night. I didn't think these were great... just ok. Wouldn't order them again. We ordered the seasonal oysters. These were also just ok. There was too much greenery on top that took away from the oysters. We finished with an espresso martini and carajillos. These two drinks saved the review. They were so good. Highly recommend coming in for the carajillo. The customer service was outstanding- also impacted my review. I would come back for the carajillo but that's about it.

Delicious Mediterranean spot in Solana Beach. We dined here before heading over to the Belly Up Tavern for a show and had an amazing meal! Dishes were flavorful with generous portion sizes and creative pairings. Lovely ambiance with trendy decor and friendly staff. We'll be back!

Came at 7PM on Sunday for light bites and we were able to be seated immediately for two people. There was parking outside of the restaurant along the street. Ordered the crispy fish tacos, hamachi crudo, and papas and mole negro. We wanted to try the octopus but it wasn't available. *hamachi crudo: the hamachi was melt in your mouth and the hibiscus ponzu was not just visually stunning but also bright and unique in flavor *papas and mole negro: I was a fan of how crispy and fluffy the potato pave was, mole was smoky and nutty *crispy fish taco: on the steeper end in terms of price point, but the cod was flaky and the cucumber pico de gallo was a nice contrast to the fried fish The space was very beautiful inside and service was friendly and attentive, our server had detailed recommendations. Great addition to Solana Beach!

HAPPY HOUR ALERT! BARGAIN ALERT! AWESOME HEATED PATIO ALERT! I'd seen that this place opened in Solana Beach and wasn't sure if I should try it. A friend wanted to meet for Happy Hour - and it looked like there were some fabulous bargains here, so that gave us a great opportunity to try it out. Can someone say... very delicious and very inexpensive? Happy hour is Tues-Fri 4-6. We showed up T at 4 pm and had the patio to ourselves. The heaters work great! Easy parking too on the street in front. Grace was our server. The Happy Hour menu is not listed on their website, but you'll find pictures of it here on Yelp under menus. COCKTAILS: Any of their cocktails are $10 at happy hour, v $14-16 regularly. I got the OAXACA OLD FASHIONED: Reposado tequila, mezcal, Nixta, xocolatl mole bitters, angostura, agave. Very refined and super delicious. Strong and sippable too! My friend got the CLASSIC MARGARITA and was very happy with it. APPS: We each got a FISH TACO ($3 each - a bargain for a posh place in SB) - and we shared the MEZZE PLATTER, $12 and very yummy. It comes with pita *and* with vegetables you can dip instead, and three dips: muhammara, tzatziki, and roasted red pepper and feta. They were all good, but I was crazy for the muhammara - just the right balance of bell peppers and walnuts. Yum! Folks, this happy hour cannot be beat. We had a perfectly good dinner this way, at bargain prices, on a cool terrasse. Check it out - and thank you Grace and everyone else who came to fill water or turn the heater up or down (they're strong and great for winter!!).

Visited Mia's on a busy Friday night and were seated outside. The restaurant was lively, and Jojo, our server, was wonderful. We started with the octopus, scallops, and ceviche, followed by the skirt steak, lamb, mushroom salad, and Aleppo chicken, and finished with the olive oil cake and rice pudding. The octopus was tender, flavorful, and well cooked. The scallops were beautiful and nicely done with bright acidity. The ceviche, however, lacked seasoning and fell a bit flat. The mains were underwhelming overall. The rack of lamb, ordered medium, was chewy, the Aleppo chicken was dry, and the mushroom dish was overpowered by heavy sauce. The skirt steak was decent but not memorable. Dessert didn't redeem the meal, the olive oil cake was dense, and the rice pudding had some undercooked grains. There's potential here, and I'll be curious to see how the menu and execution evolve over time.

I was so looking forward the opening of Mia's...then a friend invited me to tag along with her at the Grand Opening today. My friend, fellow Yelper Natalia, lives in Solana so she gets all the info of what is happening via the chamber of commerce. Thanks for this great grand opening and much success to this new fabulous venture. I loved the margarita and from the 3 appetizers I was able to try, my favorite was the carrot with a sauce that reminds me so much the Catalan romesco sauce. The restaurant is airy and cozy, as many places in Solana Beach area. Lovely and classy, with a warm approach to customers. I will be back for a full experience soon. Thanks so much for the opportunity to try out some apps and also to mingle with North county coastal folks.

Would really like for you to offer the option of flour tortillas so we can enjoy many of your existing dishes that use corn tortillas. Corn allergies are not unusual and most restaurants offer both.

Went for brunch and the servers were so attentive! The food was really good! My friends had a salad and the fried chicken sandwich, and another friend and I had the short rib flautas and they were light and crisp and filled with the short rib. The ambiance is super cute and I love the amount of space they have to accommodate you with multiple spots inside and outside. Truly loved the spot and they will definitely recommend! Took my wife here for her birthday and it did not disappoint! The location and vibe are spot on. The menu has a great selection of food and drinks, and we ended up ordering the crispy fish tacos, oysters, and picadillo empanadas. The empanadas were the standout of the day, honestly some of the best I've had in a long time. Pricing is fair for what you get, and the service was attentive and friendly throughout. We enjoyed a delicious brunch in their covered outside area. We ordered the short rib flautas, chicken sandwich, and pork belly tacos and shared the dishes between the three of us. All were yummy with wonderful flavors. Their french fries were amazing, super crispy yet pillowy & creamy on the inside. They need to put them on the menu as a side dish offering! My husband ordered the Bloody Mary and it was the perfect amount of spice and flavor. Delish! Service was great and the ambience great. read more

Mia's is a terrific new restaurant in Solana Beach, just across from the train station. The food is excellent (more on that in a second), and so is the service. While waiting for our table, we had drinks at the bar (I had a margarita) and we shared an appetizer: papas & mole negro, a crispy potato rectangle in sitting on mole sauce. My only regret is that we couldn't have another one. We were then shown to our table, and we ordered roasted organic carrots, a heritage pork chop, and crispy spanish octopus, served with dirty baby Yukon potatoes, Spanish chorizo, and a Romesco sauce that was out of this world! All told, it was a wonderful meal at a wonderful restaurant. FYI, they just opened up the deck in the back for large parties. Strongly recommended!!!! read more

Mia's has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are so very nice and welcoming. The food however was disappointing. I had the Riviera salad and added tuna. The salad was overdressed and my tuna was not fresh. A seared ahi with a strong smell and i did take a bite and knew right away. My friends at the table said they could smell it too. They immediately made it right and offered me a replacement. The menu is very fish forward and I was not going to choose something raw or seared again. I got the chile rellenos and that was tasty but mainly sauce and garnish and not much food. My friend loved her shrimp tacos but they are very tiny as well. Great meal for someone not really hungry. We also got the meze platter. The pita was great but the dips I tried were not too flavorful. They brought out a couple of desserts because we were celebrating birthdays,which was so thoughtful . Very unique, but neither were yummy. A rice pudding with a crème brûlée top and an olive oil cake that was really dry, despite a whip cream topping . Sadly there were just too many negatives for me to warrant a return visit. read more

Sat at the bar on a lazy Friday afternoon. Bartender was attentive and friendly. Drinks were okay. Asked if they had eapresso martini, he said yes but forgot to say they don't have espresso. Tasted like watered down coffee. Carrot margarita was good. Ordered a beer on tap that was not fresh. Food was also okay. Ordered the Chili Rellano. Came out barely luke warm and it was not busy. Salasa was tasty but cold. Miss the breaded egg coating. Fried cod fish tacos were good, panko is an interesting breading. Homemade tortillas were tasty. They did have a good selection of tequila. Not sure it will make it. Manager and servers were very busy pandering up to an investor to notice the rest of the restaurant. read more

Simply put... THIS WAS AMAZING! The overall experience. My wife had the carrot passion margarita and loved it. Service was sharp and I loved how they brought new silverware throughout the meal. We loved Mia's so much! The drinks were amazing, and everything we tried (just appetizers this time) was so good - we already can't wait to come back for dinner. What really made the experience stand out was the service. We came with our 9-month-old, and the staff could not have been more kind and welcoming. They were so sweet with him, playing with him and making us feel completely comfortable .. it honestly made our night. Huge kudos to the whole team, but ESPECIALLY our server Chloe, who is an absolute angel. We will be requesting her whenever we come in because she was so great. Can't wait to be back ... definitely adding Mia's to our regular rotation! read more

Great restaurant. The drinks and starters are 10/10. The service is friendly and relatively fast. Way better then Alce (previous restaurant). Where they lack is the main entree's. I have had a few and none were that great. Ribeye, flank steak, and shrimp chilli relleno were "ok" wouldn't order again. Go for drinks and apps and you will be happy read more

Mia's has become a regular stop for us as of late. We typically get lucky and get a spot at the bar. The food here is rather excellent, and we are big fans of the drink options at the bar, including a somewhat of a unique-ish take on a Carajillo. The staff is always very friendly as well. Although we haven't been here for a full sit-down dinner (yet), the happy hour food and drink options are some of the best in the area. read more

Loved this place! The mignonette for the oysters was lovely, the octopus was cooked absolutely perfect, and the empanadas were sooo good. Lisa Marie is a fantastic bartender, so on top of everything! And Scott, the manager, was incredibly helpful and personable, he was even changing kegs while making sure everyone was happy and things were running smoothly. I loved both the food and atmosphere. Highly suggest a visit to Mia's. (And they have happy hour!) read more

The hamachi and blue fin starters were ok. Something was missing. Nothing wrong with the fish, the dishes were just lacking in flavor over all. Perhaps it was because the oysters were so flavorful. Though we missed meeting the family dog, and we did meet Henry the owner. He was very charming and nice as he made sure that we were pleased with our menu choices. The Australian prawns were amazing. The Caesar salad was perfect. The wine choices were excellent choosing the Oregon Pinot. I hope this restaurant does well and is a good addition to Solano. Very charming. read more

My wife and I went to Mia's for her birthday yesterday. We were blown away. Pleasent atmosphere for a coastal spot. Amazing selection of tequila. Service was top notch! Highly recommend doing an appetizer dinner...really just so you can try them all. We did the oysters - best I've had in a long time - octopus and ceviche. Chef's kiss to those three. The entrees were good but I would say the apps were the shining moment. My wife also did a coconut margarita and it was pretty great. All in all, we will be back without a doubt. read more

Lots of locals at the bar, which is a good sign. We aren't that far away but it is a drive out to check this place out. The mezze platter was great and no problem getting extra pita to make sure we got to finish all the dips. They were out of the cauliflower so I had some of the tacos. Maybe I should know to avoid tacos at a Mediterranean place but we're in San Diego! Or cause we're in San Diego? The layout is perfect with lots of open space, a bar area, dance floor and a second level. It is quite large inside but you cannot see that from the outside. Acoustics are perfect and David Benoit is still the master of the piano. He had a guest vocalist Courtney Fortune which added to the evening performance. Parking is about the only challenge so we made sure to arrive extra early and grabbed a spot right out front. Also parking was free! I definitely recommend this venue for good service and great music.
