If your idea of good food is overly processed 'dead' food that gets unloaded from the back of a food distribution truck, and warmed, then this is a retro restaurant you'd enjoy. It's crowded by people who don't know good, fresh and tasty food. There's probably not a good cook in the place, including the kitchen. I've been taken there twice and the seven people I've eaten there with didn't like their food. This place isn't cheap, the service is forgetful, indifferent and sloppy and it's a mystery to me how Michael's continues to attract the senior citizen crowd. I was there yesterday, ordered what the waiter said was popular, and it ranks as the worst restaurant meal I've had in a year. We had to ask for coffee three times, with no server apologies offered, because that's how it goes here. Try the MUCH better food at Tony's burger place in the same strip mall. read more

Haven't been to Michael's since before the Covid pandemic. Decided, out of convenience, to take a visiting friend there for lunch yesterday. Ended up going back again today for lunch because the friend fell in love with the Huevos Ranchero (red sauce). I had had a pastrami on rye with the most delicious French fries and husband had loved the Huevos Ranchero with green sauce. And today they each ordered the same in addition to an order of French toast, an additional success. As for me, having spied a hot turkey plate going by the table yesterday, I opted for that to see if it were as delicious as it appeared then -- and it was. We are anticipating another visit in the near future to test the menu further, but so far, we can be counted as committed fans. Caution: our server advised that Michael's is only open until 2:00 pm, so don't plan on any late lunches! read more

We've loved this restaurant for decades. Sadly, when it was sold, it went so downhill. There is no love or ownership of quality any longer. Once they did their first close for summer vacation, they came back with lesser quality, smaller menu, and higher prices. We used to love the serving staff and now they are gone. My husband got the huevos rancheros off the specials board and was sick within 30 minutes. He's been sick all day. Not enough words to say how wonderful this place is. A Marilyn Monroe shrine . It's always buzzing with the locals that know how to find it the tourists that stumble into it. The portions are plenty big for 2, or for a big hungry person. It's all homemade, so get ready for an explosion of flavors in your mouth. Not sure if Monday is just a bad day or the staff is sleepy but any great feelings I had about this place on my two prior visits just went out the window The waiter was DOA In a nut shell : I wanted an ham / cheese omelette with pancakes. Easy order you void the toast and up charge for the pancakes right? Nope He charged me 14.95 for and omelette And 7.00 bucks for a side order of pancakes That's 22 bucks for and omelette and 2 pancakes. Taking my daughter and granddaughter to lunch,I haven't been to Michael's in a long time when my daughter suggested Michaels I thought what a great idea. We walked in, greeted and seated right away. 15 seconds later we received our coffee's. They took our breakfast order, refilled our coffee. (Coffee was great). My cup never lacked coffee. It seemed like I had fresh coffee every refill. Not something that sat on the burner. I ordered chicken fried chicken with gravy and biscuit It has been so long since I have had a good breakfast that was cooked by someone who knew how to cook. Gravy was excellent (not gravy out of a can). We were well taken care of by staff. Ambiance? Cool, calm, lowest noise level in a restaurant. No dishes clattering around, you could carry on a conversation without yelling. This is my "New" old favorite restaurant. I had not been in Michael's for at least a year I took a friend from out of town there and we had a luncheon breakfast. I had a spinach cheese and mushroom omelette with what they called home fries which were just little cubes of I guess potato with no onions, or anything else at all, they were awful, and the sandwich had frozen Spinach in it which tasted like hay. It was awful. My friend had a pastrami sandwich that had nothing on it. It was completely dry and awful quality seems to have really gone to hell I would rather pay more at the Best restaurant in Cathedral City, which is not there, then to go back there againto taste their horrible food I will gladly give my name is Carl Alves I give it 1 star ! read more

I would mostly consider for breakfast. But even so the food is very mediocre. Service is good and atmosphere is kitschy with lots of Marilyn and Elvis. Came in for lunch and something refreshing. Had a Cat City salad, which was great. My husband had an omelette with corned beef and hash, which was far from great. My son had the soup of the day and a fruit cup. Cat City Delight salad- 4 Omelet with corned beef, hash browns, toast- 2 (omelette was as bad as the corned beef.) 1/24/2025 breakfast- I thought I'd give them another opportunity to amaze me... I asked the waiter whether the biscuits were freshly made that day. He said that they don't make the biscuits and further stated: "Can you imagine how much work that would be to make biscuits each day?". I thanked him for his honestly and ordered toast instead. Would it be amazing if a local breakfast/lunch cafe actually made some of their own products onsite? Maybe they would become known for their great food.
