The person behind the counter didn't speak to me hardly at all, which is something I have grown to expect at most LYS. Some friendly banter about what I'm making with the yarn or something like that, not a major thing but it made me feel a little awkward not really being spoken to whatsoever. It has a dedicated parking lot in back which is wonderful for the location. I hope to see it thrive, but I might continue going to different yarn stores that have a bit of a warmer reception.

The owner was there with some women and they were talking and knitting together. When I asked for help finding the right yarn, she helped me immediately. I ended up buying some bubble gum pink yarn to make a little one a pink sweater. I'm very happy with my purchase, with the selection, and with the help I received. I wish I was more experienced at knitting so I could take advantage of some of the beautiful alpaca, wool, cotton, linen yarn she carried.

I call myself a "fiber snob" and really love natural fibers (wool, alpaca, silk, linen) as opposed to polyester and acrylic. And although this store had all kinds of fibers, I almost went off the deep end looking at the beautiful colors, fibers, weights, etc. of yarn. I don't live in the area, so this isn't somewhere I can visit often, but when I'm in Scottsdale again, I will visit again. The yarn I purchased is pink, squishy, alpaca/wool blend, thick (whatever I use it for will knit up quickly), and so soft. I can't WAIT to make something lovely with it. The storekeeper was lovely and helpful. Her store is well-organized and has yarns that are so nice. She also has many samples knit (perfectly) from the yarn she sells so you can see what the particular yarn will be when it's knit into an item (garment, scarf, hat, etc.). Everything was marked down at least 50% for their Black Friday sale...although I'm pretty sure the prices of some things are inflated just to be marked down. Anyway, our tree was originally priced to be over $300 and we paid $139.99 plus tax. It is pre-lit, 7.5' tall, and the LEDs change from white to multi colored if you want it to. There's a control box attached to the lights that allow you to select the color options you'd like. I thought it was a great value and couldn't be happier. I'm happy Michael's sold his because we were having trouble finding a nice tree for under $200. Similar trees of this caliber were going for over $300 at stores like Lowe's, Home Depot, Costco, etc.

I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at this Michael's today…read more I placed an online balloon order for a graduation and had two phone calls yesterday with the store confirming details about my order. When I arrived today, the first employee I spoke with, Anna, immediately had an attitude and told me that the confetti balloons I purchased cost extra to fill with helium and that they hadn't filled them because they weren't sure if I wanted to pay the additional charge. I asked why that wasn't mentioned during either of the two phone calls I received yesterday, especially since I was on a time crunch today. Her response was essentially that she didn't know and that I would need to find someone else to help me because she was busy. Then the manager, Jason, was called over to assist me. One of the letter balloons in my order was a J when I needed an L. I acknowledged that there had clearly been a mistake when the order was entered.. I was not arguing about it or blaming the store. However, Jason repeatedly told me that I had entered the wrong letter. After hearing it multiple times, I finally said, "I understand, you've told me three times. Whatever needs to be done is fine." He then responded by telling me AGAIN that I would have to pay for the replacement because the J had already been inflated and the order had been entered incorrectly. Again, I had already acknowledged the mistake and had absolutely no issue paying for the correct balloon. There was no reason to repeatedly point out that I had made the mistake or speak to me as though I was refusing to take responsibility for it. Mistakes happen. I ordered the wrong letter, and I was completely willing to pay to correct it. My issue is the unnecessarily rude and condescending way the situation was handled by both the employee and the manager. A simple, "No problem, we can get you the L, but because the J has already been inflated we'll need to charge you for the replacement," would have been perfectly fine. Instead, I left feeling like I was being scolded over a balloon order when all I was trying to do was pick up graduation balloons and get where I needed to be on time. Customer service and basic kindness go a long way, especially when a customer is being cooperative and willing to correct their own mistake. This interaction was unnecessarily unpleasant from the moment I walked in. And this isn't my first negative experience at this location. Sophie was wonderful and I appreciate her kindness
