I sent my wife to have an alignment done after I replaced the struts on her SUV. They treated her great and got it done quickly.

Went in for an oil change. Very fast service, super friendly non-pushy interaction with the manager, and the waiting room is clean and has lots of magazines. Manager explained everything step-by-step, was very conscientious, offered water even, drew a diagram, great. I went to Big O Tires previously and have to say they're WAY less pushy here and do a better job of explaining anything that's wrong with my car. I LOVE THESE GUYS! I took in my Ford Focus in January to have them look at the rear brakes and look at the front brake job that my boyfriend did. I also had a coupon for an oil change which I did. My rear brakes were fine, they didn't even try to sell me on them! They took me out and showed me the new shoes compared to mine. Totally impressed thus far. Asked them offhandedly about my F-150, which needed the bearings re-packed and tightened and an alignment. They said ~$200. O.O Sears quoted me $1,080! So, this last Saturday I bring in my F-150 and they do a full inspection. (Side-note: I had the truck in a different shop to fix the fuel pump about a month ago, and the truck had been sitting and not driven at all since then) Midas told me, your brake fluid is really bad, your transmission fluid is bad, (they have test vials that they put your fluid next to so you can see the difference, LOVE THAT), your tag lights are out (the light bulbs that illuminate your licence plate) and your serpentine belt is cracked. Holy heck, the other shop sent me driving off in a ticking time bomb! I can't believe they didn't tell us about that stuff! So, Long story short, ~$800 later and my baby is up and running perfectly. My boyfriend suddenly decided to check my tag lights the next day and saw that they weren't working, so we took it back and they just immediately put new ones in, no questions. They apologized for forgetting to do them. One last thing: They keep records of the work they did and what they quoted you. You can call them anytime and ask, when did I have my breaks done? Or, Did we only do my front brakes? When was my last oil change etc... Now all I have to fix is my leaf springs! Thanks Midas, I will always be bringing you my vehicles! read more

I went into Midas today for a noise in my rear brakes and some other issues. I was very nervous that they were going to tell me whatever they wanted to make money off of my problem. In a nutshell, they told me nothing was really wrong, and solved the problem through other means. They didn't even charge me! I was shocked. I took my car into the brake experts for a brake and suspension job on my VW Jetta. My brakes were unresponsive and my brake pedal was soft and would press all the way to the floor. They ended up rebuilding my rear end with all new axles and bearings. In regards to my brakes, they rebuilt the front end brakes as quoted. Regarding to the soft brake pedal, they said it was resolved but wouldn't say why or how. The brakes worked as expected for a while then went soft again. Unfortunately, they went soft while I was driving 65mph on Rte 99 behind a tractor trailer. My car went to the junk yard for a measly $200 and I needed 7 months of physical therapy for my back and shoulder. My first call after the accident was to the Midas shop and their response was "it was fixed". If it was fixed, then the brakes wouldn't have failed and I would still have a VW Jetta to drive. $1500 worth of work at Midas cost me a car and 7 months of extreme back pain. Would I recommend them again? NO WAY. L:ook at Folsom Car Care first. They have a local reputation and don't hide behind a corporate label. Midas' poor repair work and lack of investigation as to the cause of the soft brakes cost me dearly. I'm a last minute with my oil changes on my Honda Accord with almost 200,000 miles. I've gone to Midas without an appointment, and they were too busy good sign so I had to go to jiffy lube because I was leaving for LA. Well my dad was driving and noticed that my oil wasn't even filled to the top. Jiffy lube isn't so jiffy when they are busy. At midas you can make an appointment and literally be out in 20 min. The price is 28.00 includes tires rotation everything. Then I refer myself to the details of what any checklist of anything wrong as "what grade did my car get yesterday I got B" my alignment wearing my tire bald. So for 28$ I get reassured of the important things to keep my Honda running and safe and also ask from 1-10 How important to get fixed how much longer could I go ? They're honest, and very knowledgeable, kind and have a sense of humor. It's doesn't feel like a automotive "chain". Tim has been there forever. I recommend you make an appointment and ask plenty of questions to be a knowledgeable consumer. They are a full service place. So take advantage of the convenience. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! My experience was horrible! I went to this location because I saw the high reviews on Google. My initial visit was for an oil change and new brakes. Jeff called me and also recommend new filter, coolant flush and transmission fluid. Agreed to have the recommend preventative maintenance and spent $653.09. Within days after picking up my car I started hearing rattling as I drove over bumps in the road. I took the car back and reported that I am hearing this rattle and was a little concerned that prior to dropping my car off for the initial visit the rattle was not there. I was called and told I need new struts and would cost me another $934.91. I went ahead and approved the fix. Upon picking up my car after this being fixed I voiced my concern that my car did not make any noise prior to the initial visit and Gary got sharp with me telling me one has nothing to do with another. Within days after picking up my car the rattle did not go away. Spoke with Jeff that the rattle was still there. He asked me to bring it back and I did and this time they told me they could not find the source of the noise and would need the car for a couple days to investigate. I asked for my car back and told Jeff I was going to get a second opinion. Took my car the Acura dealership and was told the rattle was from the left front brake rotor backing plate bent up against knuckle. Paid the dealership $100 for the visit. Spoke with Jeff and provided the paperwork and he stated that he would need to discuss with Randy the franchise owner. Jeff asked what I felt was a fair compensation and I told him the fee for struts because the car did not make any noise when I dropped off at the initial visit. Jeff called me 3 days later and told me Randy agreed to refund the labor, $309.98. I told him this was not fair because I also paid $100.00 at Acura plus time away from work and mileage for driving there. Jeff told he would get back to me. I then asked to speak to Randy directly as he was having to go back and forth. Jeff told me that Randy does not accept calls or calls customers, WHAT????!!!!???!! Later, I received a message from Jeff NOT Randy that he agreed to an additional $100 refund. Seriously!! read more

I finally made an appointment for brakes. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. My odometer read 50k miles and I had not yet had them done. They were at the "loudly grinding" point so I knew I wasn't getting off cheap. I made the appointment for when they opened, which thankfully was at 7:30am. They already had 3 guys working, and I only had to wait a few minutes while they helped a person in front of me. They were able to do a full diagnosis within an hour (I walked down to the McD's for breakfast and free wifi, as they do not have any wifi in their waiting room). They knew I was on a budget, so they gave me a list of things to fix immediately, and then what I could do a little later. I needed new front rotors and one front caliper whose covering had been damaged, this all came to a little under $700. My next repair will be the second front caliper for around $220 total, and after that the rear brakes: resurfaced rotors and pads for around $300. Before going here, I called around for comparison with other quality shops and the prices were around the same. The calipers were not something I had heard might need to be replaced, so I'm uncertain whether the second one really needs replacing or not. They performed the initial work and I was able to get out of there by lunchtime. Their location is convenient, near plenty of food and shopping. I would give less stars but not an option, went in on sunday 12/17/2017 because they were one of the only places open on a sunday. I went in for an alignment for my vehicle which i was informed was $69.00. Anyways after waiting fot 2 hours the guy informs me i need camber bolts to adjust the camber to have it aligned. He then proceeded to charge me $39.00 for doing nothing since they didnt have the bolts. I asked him before taking my car in why did you miss represent what you were doing or could do. He stared at me with a dumb look with his glasses glimmering and his beedy eyes staring blankly, he barley even knew what the bolts did and were they went. Besides the point, i asked him before taking my car why did you not inform me if my alignment was off there is no way for you to adjust it today unless i have these bolts, and also why did you not state that if you cant give it an alignment today i was going to be charged $39.00 for a inspection fee!! An inspection fee? i didnt want to know if my alignment was off for $39 i knew it was off and wanted it aligned. This guy was an idiot and i dont say that offen. On top of all of he low insight on trying to snag a quick buck, i also asked for them to check my torque specs on my lugs, i watched the entire time the car pulled in and left the port the tech never removed my caps or checked the torque specs. But guess what mr beedy eyes claimed he did, i laughed at this guy because i couldnt believe how stupid he must have thought i was. Truthfully i didnt want to pay the $39.00 i wanted to snag my keys and bounce. These ethics at midas are the kind that loose customers for life. I may be only one customer but 1 person knows 100 so that says something. All in all i was miss informed and ripped off, and straight lied to about services they didnt and couldnt even do. I will never return to this location and i see why others told me to wait and avoid the midas in folsom. Take my advice go to les swab dont even waste your time here this guy was a goon and a snake it may only be $39.00 but add that up if he does that to 5 people a day lets say 5 days a week, thats $200 a day $1000 a week. And thats for doing absolutly nothing to your vehicle. Next time inform me you cant give me an alignment and inform me you wont check my lugs, and inform me you will charge me for inspections i didnt ask for. Its called being honest would have went a long way for me but instead i was snaked. The techs seem lost and the service writter is a scum bag period. I wouldnt even have needed them if i had my own machine to alignment machine and it wasnt sunday. read more

Came in for a second opinion on my brakes. They researched the issue and discovered rotors only needed machined instead of replaced. They explained difference between 2 pads and why one was more expensive. Work was done in a timely manner, my questions were completely answered and I felt great driving home with their repair and no more noise from my brakes! BEWARE!! I had brought my car in to have major work done on it. A week later, when it was finally ready, my car died not more than 10 minutes after driving away from Midas. Fortunately, my car restarted although very shakily so I drove it right back to them. After another week, my car was "fixed". However I've noticed now that my air conditioning is not working when it had worked previously. Midas would not look at my air conditioner unless I paid them to look at it even though they caused the problem. I had another auto mechanic look at my air conditioning unit and said the hose had not been sealed to the compressor after MIDAS put my engine back into the car. Either Midas lacks the skills to fix autos, are negligent, or just trying to rip its customers off by being sneaky and dishonest requiring future work and $$$. Needless to say I won't be frequenting this establishment ever again since they are so dishonest. SHAME ON MIDAS!!! read more

I am from San Francisco, I came up to Folsom to have some work done on my car, I have family here that I can stay with, and labor costs are about half up here as opposed to SF. I try to fit in a car repair if needed when I visit. Well this time it was desperate and family agreed I could stay with them for a visit no problem. I needed a tune up (Midas) and a new catalytic converter. I had gotten a quote from Midas for the catalytic converter which was high, and decided to have that done elsewhere. When I took the car in for the tune up I explained that I knew the converter had to be replaced but that I was having that done elsewhere. So while Midas had my car 2 full days, (had to order parts) I called the other place place to make the appointment for the converter. Apparently there is an engine family number that is on a plate on the car that I needed the number off of in order to get the correct parts. I called down to Midas and asked if they could give me the numbers off the plate. They claimed I do not have a plate on my car that has this information. Now Midas is willing to put in a new catalytic converter for me. After calling several places that deal with mufflers and catalytic converters, and all said the same thing, that with out the information on this plate they could not put in a new converter, and even if they could, I would not pass smog because the smog station needs the sticker numbers as well. Nobody will touch a catalytic converter without this sticker, Apparently the mechanic and future smog testers can face huge fines from the state if anything is done to the converter without this sticker attached to the car. HOWEVER MIDAS IS WILLING TO. Sounds fishy to me, so after holding my car for 2 full days, the part they needed to order had come in in the morning the second day but they still kept the car till 5 pm. I drive this car for a living and needed to get home and get back to work. So when I go to pick up the car, they give me all kinds of scare tactics, that I should have the car towed to the next mechanic and NOT DRIVE IT AT ALL. I drove it home fine the work they did do seemed to be fine. When I got back to my families home I opened the owners manual (in the front door pocket) and looked up where this plate was and low and behold, the plate was exactly where it was supposed to be. Not only that there was a removable paper copy tucked neatly behind it. Needless to say this whole fiasco cost me an extra day up here because the place that was going to do the converter could not order the parts. NOW AM I REALLY SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THAT MIDAS IS WILLING TO INSTALL A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER WITHOUT THE INFORMATION THEY NEED WHICH THEY CLAIM MY CAR DOESN'T HAVE, AND FACE HUGE FINES FROM THE STATE? AND THAT THEY HAVE NEVER WORKED ON ON VW JETTA BEFORE AND JUST DON'T KNOW WHERE THE PLATE IS? OR COULD NOT HAVE LOOKED IT UP IN THE OWNERS MANUAL WHICH THEY HAD IN THE FRONT DOOR POCKET.? AND DID IT REALLY TAKE ALL DAY TO PUT IN THE PART THEY HAD TO ORDER? OR WERE THEY MAD THAT I WAS NOT HAVING THAT WORK DONE WITH THEM? I will be calling the board that handles smog stations and report them that they are willing to install parts when they supposedly don't have the correct information to do so. I hope they get fined. I still spent over $700 with them for the work they did do, If they had just given me the information I asked for that was in my car, goodwill and I am spending $700 with them I would have written them a nice review. However I believe that this was sour grapes that their price was high for the catalytic converter. Their bad attitude cost me an extra day of work. Now I am mad and will be reporting them to the state board that handles smog. And will not go back. read more
