A warning light came on in our Subaru Forester, which we thought was a brake warning. We learned days later that it was actually a tire pressure warning light. We called Midtown, not wanting to be driving around with a possibly dangerous braking situation. We said there was a problem with the brakes, and they should do a safety check, and check oil and lubrication. They did not explain the warning light was for tire pressure. They came back with a long list of things that should be done, including a "tune up", and new timing belt. They said there was an oil leak. The estimate was for 2300 some dollars. We authorized them to do the work. When we checked our purchase documents against their invoice, most of the work and parts were not necessary. The water pump was new in spring 2014, and all the stuff related to engine timing and ignition was new then also, when the head gasket was done. They did not have this information, we realize. We should have done the comparison before telling them to proceed with their work. However, they did know what the warning light meant, and they did not inform us, nor did they check tire pressure so that the warning light turned off. There are several ways to view this chain of events. The most positive is that as far as they could determine, the engine did need a lot of work, and they took care of it. The least positive is that it was the end of a fiscal year, and they saw a way to augment their cash flow by doing a lot of work for some people who know little about their car. We had seen no signs of an oil leak, we had not needed to add oil, and the engine work in spring 2014 was well done, not inferior as they implied. Even in the positive view, they were remiss in not explaining the tire inflation light and fixing that issue. It is difficult to envision a situation where we would patronize them again. read more

I think that Jeremiah is great with customer service and treated me very well. The issue I have is the price and a water pump they had done a couple years ago. They run quite a bit more expensive compared to a few other quotes I got. I needed my front axle boot replaced, coolant flushed, fan switch replaced, coolant reservoir replaced. They put me at about 1000 for everything, I managed to find 3 other quotes putting me at around 650. I did have them do some work a couple years ago replacing my water pump and timing belt ( I believe it was a little over 700 for the timing belt and pump kit). Today I found out the water pump just went out again and I probably only put 16000 miles on it. I don't blame the labor, but have been told that they should have used a pump with metal propellers instead of plastic (that may also just be vw parts fault). The point is, I wish they had a better warranty for having steep prices as some shops offer a 3 year warranty for labor and parts. read more

Recently I dropped off a Subaru Impreza that hasn't been driven for over a year and wanted to get it checked out. Jeremiah gave me his word that they would look at everything from under the hood to drivetrain. Before any work was performed on the car Jeremiah gave me a call to give me a rundown with all of the pricing straight up, which was very reasonable with all of the work that needed to be done. When I got the Subaru back, I was more than impressed with the friendliness of the staff and Jeremiah and equally impressed with how well the car drives after the laundry list of repairs. I will definitely be going back to these guys for oil changes, the soon to be timing belt replacement, and any other repairs that need to get done down the line. I stopped by this place today with a broken atenna. Not only was the guy who helped me a jerk he offered no help at all. He acted like I was annoying him. Sorry if paying customers are a hassle. He also made NO real attempt to solve my issue. The only option he gave would have cost me several HUNDRED dollars!!!! I left there and went to Autotailor on 17th & High. Not only did the Autotailor people treat me with respect they presented SEVERAL options to solve my problem which they fixed for a big whopping $50!!! Something the A*hole at Midtown said was impossible. If you want to be treated like dirt and ripped off then I recommend Midtown. If you want respect and a fair deal give Autotailor a try. read more

This is hands-down the best auto repair shop I have been to. I brought my car in for a condenser repair and replacement of the front bumper and headlights. This could have taken several days and been cost prohibitive. But Jeremiah went to bat for me and ordered the bumper, sent it out for painting, and had it ready to go by the time I left my vehicle at the shop. He was able to do some pretty extensive bodywork and mechanical repairs in the span of a single day! The work is incredible. The front end of my vehicle looks brand new. And the air conditioner was fixed perfectly. The whole thing was done with meticulous precision. He worked with me to give me a very fair price and have my insurance cover as much as was possible. Honest, fair, and caring. The ease of renting a car was also so appreciated. Jeremiah arranged for the rental prior to my arrival and I had dropped my car off and was in a rental in a matter of a half-hour. When I got my car back, Jeremiah had also taken the time to identify and create quotes for a few things that might need work in the near future. And I definitely will be going to Midtown for said repairs. Could not recommend more highly. Good people. read more
