Reading the website turns out it's the same owner who did shorty's. Service was slow but I think they focused on those at the bar and not the tables; there didn't seem to be any wait staff. Food: 3.3 Service: 3.2…read moreAmbiance: 3.5 Value: 3 I traveled in to Manhattan from Brooklyn on a Friday at 11am specifically to get a cheesesteak. Fedoroff's is great but pricey, and I remembered Olde City wasn't bad the last time I had it years ago, so I trekked in. Mistake. I should have stayed home. Garlic Parm wings were big and well-sauced, but when I bit in I found they were a bit drier than other wings I've had. And $19 for a plate of wings seems high. Italian fries were the same story - seasoned well, but tough. Nothing like the great ones at Yankee Stadium. When I get tough food I always wonder if they served me reheated leftovers from yesterday. For the cheesesteak, I ordered the "Authentic" which is supposed to come with your choice of cheese (Whiz/American/Provolone/Cooper Sharp/Ghost pepper jack); but I absentmindedly forgot to specify my choice and the server didn't ask me. It was only when the food came and I saw the Whiz when I realized. I would have appreciated a prompt so that I could have gotten Cooper Sharp. It was his first day so maybe he didn't know better. There was another server behind the bar who he was training under. I will give the servers props for giving me the combo price without me asking for it ($18 for cheesesteak, fries, and soda/water). But overall, stuff could have been better. The place was dead. I was one of three people in there but still felt ignored. There's a lot of TVs and a lot of beer options so I can see it being a good place to drink and watch a game. But the food is just ok. Very different than what I remembered.

Something about regular crust is just meh to me...but this thick crust is fluffy, chewing, soft, and is the perfect canvas for some toppings! I was telling my brother that to me, the perfect pizza would be mama's too crust and the L'industrie toppings... and THAT my friend, would be the BEST pizza in the world, haha. I ordered the pepperoni on a saturday evening... or was it friday evening? around 9:45pm. It wasn't too crazy busy, but it was busy and loud. The line to order was quick, roughly a 1 minute wait? But to get your slices... the wait wasn't too bad, even though it felt longer than it did. I probably waited 15 minutes or so? Given the fact that there were 20 others ahead of me, that was not bad at all. By the time you get your food, if you wanted to eat there, you could easily find a spot to slide to, to stand and eat. Pepperoni pizza was delicious. Sauce is on the tangier/more acidic side, more tomatoey. and the pepperoni was great. Slight spice to it, but not as good as L'industries. Nonetheless, this slice was delicious. Hot, melty gooey cheese and lots of pepperoni overload. Crust is divine. I could just eat that by itself. Definitely a great bite whether on the go, drunk, or just because.

If I ever return, I'll have to try a square slice. I was able to order right away which was nice. Having waited in line for 15 minutes and then another 10 or so immediately before at the supposed #1 place within about a 1 minute walk nearby; I was glad that this had no wait to order. I did the Uncle Joe which was a vodka pepperoni sauce and I added pesto. The total was $8.50. WTAF. NYC I guess. I waited less than 5 minutes before getting the pizza. Of the 6 slice spots I had, this was by far the best tasting dough/crust. I had an audible reaction when tasting the crust. Extremely good. Unfortunately, the pizza had too much sauce. It was overwhelming. Simply too much sauce. I could only have about half before giving up. Both sauces tasted good, but the vodka sauce was so loaded that it was hard to taste anything else. A shame because this had potential to be a great score.

We have developed a congenial friendship which was founded on La Fermière yogurts. Emre knows that I price shop so invariably I know when the time is right to buy these delicious yogurts at Eden. I often buy Siggi yogurts as here they are $1.99 each. The ladies - Dolores, Affou, Mamata, Savita, Tofu - at the checkout are friendly, kind and remember customers. A few speak French which I practice with them. Being originally Greek, the Dolmas in the prepared food section, are plump and particularly tasty. It's worth buying a few to take home. Adam looks taciturn but always is kind to me. He is behind the deli counter preparing sandwiches and always gives me a quarter pound of the Jambon de Paris. Miguel and Medina are also here. A loyalty card is worth having and once having accumulated many points I paid the princely sum of $1.61 for a pretty bouquet of roses in assorted colors that cost $11.99. Now that's a steal! Eden Gourmet is the sister supermarket to my beloved sadly closed Eden Gourmet of 14th street. This too is packed to the brim with fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses, dairy, chicken and meats. A large variety of sparkling waters, frozen entrees, ice creams and assorted temptations are here too. A small bakery has cakes and pastries available. I pop in often to get milk or to see what's new and always to say hello to everyone. I always feel happy coming to Eden Gourmet Marketplace!

You'll get all the usual grocery store sections, including fresh produce and a deli counter in the back. There isn't a ton of variety, with maybe two or three options for most items. But those options are consistently high quality. Whoever is stocking the shelves has good taste! The setup for paying is a bit weird, they've got a long counter up front in lieu of the usual registers with lanes. It can make lines a bit confusing during busier times, but not a dealbreaker by any means.

I arrived at 2pm on a weekday and the guy was doing a deep clean while I ate my sandwich. Love this. I got The Emma - no clue how they arrived at this name. It's one of their more spicy steak sandwiches and includes kimchi and Broccoli rabe - absolutely one of the most memorable sandwiches I've consumed. While I was there - a food blogger came in and shot a video. This place is no secret. My only "issue" is that the food is expensive. I TOTALLY get they are using high end ingredients - organics - locally sourced - etc. those items are not cheap. But my sandwich was normal sized - no pickle or any add on item - and I ate in but was not offered a plate or a fork. It's a deli. But for $20+, I can't eat here every day or even multiple times a week. Like NYC, it ain't for everyone and it ain't cheap. But I'll be back!

Everything tasted fresh, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly without being too heavy. The portion was super filling, which I always appreciate when it comes to salads. It's a great spot if you're looking for something fresh, satisfying, and easy--especially on a nice sunny day when you can sit back and enjoy the view. Definitely a place I'd come back to for salads, wraps, or sandwiches

Think vintage wallpaper, little knick-knacks, and warm lighting. It's got character. I ordered the market salad with mixed greens, honeycrisp apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, and sherry vinaigrette. It was a hearty portion - super fresh and flavorful, and honestly more than I could finish (not a complaint!). I also ordered a Diet Pepsi with grenadine; they don't carry Diet Coke, which I almost docked a point for, but the mix was unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend it. My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.
